still got my nokia 6300 so as my partner, we use them mainly as they have the best organizers we have found. one problem is. When making calls they tend to make your ears burn so don't use them for long calls. great as an organizer but not for making calls.

written by Sico2 on 29/10/2010

I bought the phone few months back for over £120 as pay as you go sim. I did overpay for it, but back then it was first sleek design by Nokia. I still have it, only had to buy new micro SD card, as by updating the software the standard 128mb got locked with a password and you couldn't unlock until you went to the service and pay for the password, where new 2gb card cost me £5.
In general nice design, not too heavy or bulky, 2 years of clicking, smsing, answering phone and no trace of usage or wear.
I wouldn't recommend it to a friend now, because today there are many more lovely, thinner designs with many more features with similar price tag phones on the market. Back then it was a pioneer.
Still have, still am using it. Has a nice 2mpx camera, that captured first hours of life after my baby daughter birth.
Good battery on standby, useful features like sleepmode and screensavers.

I think it's a good phone. The Nokia 6300 is sleek and very easy to use. For the price you're paying, obviously you shouldn't be expecting many functions. I would recommend this to anyone who's interested for a basic phone which has the usual functions and is slim n sexy! The battery life isn't too bad. I only charge it every 3 days, which is good compared to my previous motorola, and sony which i had to charge every night! The system never lags or restarts by itself, which was one of the major problems I suffered with before this. So overall, I'd say this is a pretty good phone, if you're looking for something simple n basic!

I just wanted a cheapish, solid phone, nothing too fancy and easy to use.
The Nokia 6300 ticked every box. Looks stylish - and has great functionlity. Its not too hard on the old pocket either, i got mine from tesco contract mobile and have to say - it was sent the next day and had no problems. Im really happy with it and would definatley recommend it.

Have used Nokia for years & generally feel they are pretty good value. This phone disappointed me from the start though. It's ok overall, but not sure it's a huge improvement on the last 6300. Don't think the design of it was particularly thoughtful. Am now very tempted to go with the iPhone as it looks so much easier (and more fun) to use.

“It felt substantial yet sleek ”

It felt substantial yet sleek
It isn't robust... it's too 'boutique' and didn't last me beyond a week - hence where I've given '5' it's because I can only be fair since I didn't get to know it before the screen broke in my pocket & it went to the charity recycling folk... Do not recommend the Nokia 6300.

.Excellent overall. Current time owned 15 months and see no reason to upgrade purely for cosmetic reasons. It does what a phone's supposed to do - what more do you want?

“The Nokia 6300 is still a very popular contendor in...”

★★★★☆

written by kiyawhite on 30/11/2008

The Nokia 6300 is still a very popular contendor in the mid-range mobile phone market, although it's almost two years old. It's immense popularity is what made me buy it.

The phone itself looks incredible. It's very stylish and beautiful - very classy and suitable if you want to do a bit of showing-off. The sleek 'Nokia' logos are great finishing touches.

Start-up time is okay. After the tidy Nokia welcome opening theme (featuring the "connecting hands" trademark), whether you skip the welcome or not, you're subjected to a blank white screen for a couple of seconds. That's not irritating, you might think, but it was when I was desperate to ring the police to report a fire at the local park. Oh well, the phone isn't going to be perfect. Maybe I should've been normal and have already had the phone switched on.

Most mobile phones now function also as MP3 players. Hence the Nokia 6300 isn't an exception. What I really like about the player on this phone is the ability to listen to music files through the very impressive loudspeaker. Sound on it is very clarified and isn't as lacking in bass as you'd expect for such a small speaker.

The screen is very, very bright and is viewable right up to the brightest of sunlight conditions.

Onboard memory capacity is dire, but this is completely overcome by the fact that the phone comes supplied with a 512MB microSD card which can be upgraded to an even higher capacity storage card in the future.

The biggest disadvantage of using this phone is its battery life. One charge lasts me just one day when I send about 20 texts per day and take a photo or two, which isn't at all good. It's annoying that I have to charge the battery every night but at least each charge is suitable for 16 hours or so.

The vibration feature isn't very strong. On many occasions, I've had the phone on silent in my pocket and never realised that I've received texts or phonecalls because the vibrating has been to pathetic.

Overall, though, this phone is brilliant. The enormous let-down is the battery life. I live in hope that Nokia will develop a new battery for the phone that can be purchased to give longer battery life, but it won't be fair that I'll have to pay extra.

“Good phone in general I've had 2 as business phones,...”

★★★★☆

written by jahaangle on 21/11/2008

Good phone in general I've had 2 as business phones, S40 software is robust but not a match for the S60 OS found in the N-Series phones. For a Nokia the phone is very stylish and slim. 2MP camera produces excellent pictures outside but struggles in poor light without a flash. Some of the menu buttons are a bit small and the silver D-Pad is a bit narrow. The actual phone buttons are of a good size and are responsive. Battery life is a bit poor and degrades quickly as the phone gets older. Screen is excellent however and the 240x320 resolution really helps. An excellent business phone.

I have had this phone two years now and I am still delighted with it. It has been perfectly reliable, the screen has proved robust and actually this whole phone feels well made, tough and easy to use. I would definately recommend it as it has pretty much all the features you need. Maybe newer versions could add better size jacks, GPS, larger microSd capability and a much much better battery life.

The Nokia 6300 is a excellent all round phone. If you need to make calls ,listen to music and the radio or take the odd photo or play games this is the one for you. Everything you need is on this phone. It even has a sound booster to block out disturbances.

Bluetooth, mp3 player, radio, camera, expandable upto 2GB memory card, there is nothing else a standard user desires and that is what makes this phone a good buy.

It may not have all that you want, but it does have what you need.

written by on 23/08/2008

The Nokia 6300 battery is pretty bad on this phone, have to charge it every second day.
The phone will randomly restart itself and takes ages for the memory to start back up.
Also I can no longer use the phone as when I go into the inbox it says operation timed out. I have a few new messages in there and cant read them.

Once again disappointed with nokia... but what can I expect from a batch made phone!

“When I bought Nokia 6300 phone last year I loved it..! ”

★★★★☆

written by anto2k7utj on 16/07/2008

When I bought Nokia 6300 phone last year I loved it..!
I compared the images that I took on it to other manufacturers 2MP cameras, and the 6300 was far superior!
The battery life really ruined this phone.
Come on nokia, will you ever learn that battery life is very very important.
The main reason I loved this phone is because of the texting ability. Its great to text with =]
Also the music player was great, very stylish.
The speaker is very loud and the music quality is crystal clear.

This phone is very easy to use and I would recomend it to people who are looking their first phone. Or have little knowledge about mobile phones.
After a few months of having this phone I decided too give it too my dad (who didn't have a clue how to use a phone :P) and he instantly learned to use it!

Seriously annoyed with Carphone Warehouse for selling me this phone when I was buying a hands free kit at the same time and they knew I used voice dialling consistently.

written by Access786 on 25/05/2008

You people at Nokia need to wake up, we pay good money for Nokia phones yet they are not to standard.
1. The battery life is terrible. A fully charged battery lasts for 1 day when using web based applications> GPRS
2. The keypad was designed for small people with small fingers. Keypad is flat and doesn't allow sufficient grooving/spacing in between. This is irritable when typing messages.
3. The navigation key should have been smaller allowing the end(red) and answer (green) key to be bigger. Go back to the drawing board. Consult the Nokia 6020 it has excellent battery life, keypad and navigation keys.

“I've been given the Nokia 6300 as an upgrade from the...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Artisan on 02/05/2008

I've been given the Nokia 6300 as an upgrade from the Nokia 6320i and I'm really disappointed. Funnily enough I actually use this as a phone for business, a point that has been overlooked by Nokia in their attempt to make it appeal to texters and those that take meaningless pictures all the time.

The most annoying thing about the 6300 is the voice dialling which worked perfectly well on my original Nokia using my own voice to confirm the name. On the 6300 every contact is automatically given electronically generated voice dialling which sounds like Stephen Hawking. This either doesn't recognise the name or dials the wrong number which makes it useless for in the car.
Other people in our office had Ericson phones which came with data cable unlike the 6300 which uses a different cable to my previous 6320i meaning more expense. The Bluetooth works well but drains the battery even faster which means that I cannot use the phone for a full working day without charging it up.

The result of all this is I've put the 6300 back in its box and I 'm using my old 6320i

Come on Nokia get a grip!!!
