    Hotpoint CTD40P Tumble Dryer

Absolute rubbish - First one I had broke down continuously after 11 visits from engineer they eventually replaced it but only after a great deal of shouting on my behalf *(incidentally they count one fault as one visit - so if the engineer has to call four times to fix the same fault they count it as one call - unfortunatey if I have to wait in on four separate days it still counts as four days abscence from work).
As I said the offending item was eventually replaced, after the guarantee expired the thermostat died, was replaced , died again eight months later and died again six months later. Luckily I am able to replace these parts myself or I would be charged £100 a time for the engineer to fit them with the parts warranty. Still its around £30 a time for the replacement parts.
Needless to say I have given any product bearing the Hotpoint name a wide berth since I have owned this.

VERY POOR MACHINE STOPPED WORKING TOTALLY AFTER 8 MONTHS "SUPPOSE THATS WHY IT CAME WITH A FIVE YEAR PARTS GUARENTEE" MIND YOU NEED TO CALL OUT A HOTPOINT REPAIR ENGINEER AT A HUNDRED A POP, AVOID THESE LIKE THE PLAGUE

The Hotpoint CTD40 is a good piece of equipment, works well for me. Does what it is supposed to do. No real mechanical problems in first 4 years.

This Hotpoint CTD40 tumble drier has been worked hard in the 4 years that we've had it, but I expected it to last longer. There has also been a plague of tripping out the plug circuit downstairs, and it seems to get wet inside. Works well, when it works! Looks stylish. I would not buy another CTD40, and am wary of buying another Hotpoint condenser dryer.

This Hotpoint CTD40 is the second and last Hotpoint dryer that i have purchased they are not built to last more than a year without problems parts need replacing. tripping of circuit breaker is caused by condensation on the heater elements which although the Hotpoint service technician could fix by taking the back plate off and drying heater element with hairdryer .I never bothered phoning him out after coming out 2 times to repair as i used to do this myself. Now the dryer is just out of guarant ...

I will never buy another hotpoint again, this one looks good and dries clothes but that about it. I thought mine was very unreliable had this dryer for about 6 months has broke down twice due to what i can only think to be a design fault

If you only want an overpriced dryer that in my case worked for 20 months only then I'd fully recommend buying it.

Otherwise I'd avoid this Hotpoint. Either get a cheapie with a view to having it for a while or invest a more costly decent brand.

If you must buy this product then definitely make sure you take out insurance or an extended warranty together with purchase. If something major goes wrong outside first 12 months then you face £160 for an extra one year of parts and servic ...

The dryer broke down within the first 4 weeks and has broken down on a further two occasions within 6 months of ownership. When the dryer is actually working is does its job OK. We will not be buying another Hotpoint dryer next time!

I have had this condensing tumble drier for approx 13 months and in that time my Hotpoint engineer and I have got on first name terms. The first problem was within 6 weeks of owning it and it has been a constant battle to keep the machine going ever since. I have four children so we DO do a lot of washing, but I do expect a brand new machine to at least last out ot's guarentee.

    1) The 'Set and Forget' programme has never worked properly - it stops when the clothes are still damp.
    2) We have ...
