Good Points: Dual-Core. Simple and Stylish, feels quite well made. Built in camera, semiportable, good mouse track pad with 4-way scroll pad. Good keyboard and display.
Bad Points: Weights a bit too much too be comfortable for everyday portable use. Battery life also mediocre (2-3h with min brightness and undervolted processor), so need to be near power outlet for long time use. Keyboard lacks numbpad, although there is seminumbpad by using funktion key plus numlock.
General comments: I bought Acer Aspire computer to write my master thesis. It had a good price/performance ratio. Mine was actually 5101, but I upgraded the processor to TL-50, effectively making it a 5102. There is a distinct usability difference between single core 2.0ghz compared to dual core 1.6ghz in the favor of dual core. Back when it was single core it felt sluggish, now I prefer to use it more than my desktop computer. I also upgraded to windows vista and ram to 2gb. The computer feels very nice for everyday use.

A DISPOSABLE LAPTOP COMPUTER WITH A LIFE OF FOUR MONTHS
Bought Aug 2006. HDD died Dec 2006. Kept sending it back to Acer and they kept sending it back with the HDD still dead. Currently back with them with no ETA for its return, just "waiting for parts" fob-off. Suggested they replace it instead, foolishly hoped for a bit of goodwill but just got a tide of disclaimer notices on email.
Save your money.

The Acer Aspire 5102 is a great looking laptop but it acts like a single core. The graphics are meant to be the express 1100 which is better then the previous model, the express 200m on-board graphics, but to me it seems the same. The keyboard is very nice, slick and easy to press over with fingers and it doesn't come with the Windows installation disk - just the paperwork. I know this might be a short review but make sure you consider what I have said about the graphics and confusing dual core ...
