my first visit and will be my last. ordered apple pie for pudding, extra £1 for a tablespoon of cream. when it arrived took one look at it and new it had been re-heated in a micro wave,pastry was wet and disgusting,manager asked what the problem was to which i stated that it had been reheated in micro and u should never do that with pastry his reply was "yes it was heated in micro we always do it that way and we've never had any complaints before." silly silly man.

We visit The Rail Bridge Bistro fairly regulary and the food is generally quite good (but a bit overpriced)but we are prepared to pay a bit extra for the fantastic views an pleasant atmoshpere.
I recently had a poor meal (rissotto like rice pudding) and was very disappointed with the staff response (although they acknowledged that the food was not up to standard). Stick with the fish and chips, steak pie etc if you don't want to be disappointed.- Read Guest's review (80 words)

Excellent food and service, lovely location Rail Bridge Bistro is one of our favourites in South Queensferry. Also, if the weather is good you can sit outside and soak up the atmosphere.

Could not agree less with the last review. we have just visited the railbridge again, and once again the staff and food were lovely. we asked for something that was not on the menu and they went out of thier way to make it for us even although it was a busy day. we have visited many times and always had lovely food and service and would hate to think a couple of bad reviews would put people of trying this wonderful restaurant. no one can be prefect all the time but it is what they do when you le ...- Read frankaboutit's review (131 words)

Goodness me ! The Rail Bridge Bistro, South Queensferry - What an awful place ! I'm an American tourist who absolutely loves coming to Scotland but golly, this place just doesn't do Scotland justice ! Unless your extremely well off, this is a tourists nightmare ! Hey, great views but come on guys, you just can't expect people to pay and then enjoy one of your meals when it's cold, badly served and little of it ! Sure, the menu sounds great but when you get right down to it, it's certainly not va ...- Read Americanpie's review (223 words)

Have eaten several times at the rail bridge bistro and have always been disappointed. Excellent location, excellent design and decor, welcoming staff, yet exceptionally poor and overpriced food. Had the haggis and cheese baked potato. both potato and haggis barely warm, cheese was bright orange and grated on top. Because of location this place has a "captive audience" - we were there with elderly relatives whio found walking too far a bit of a strain.- Read DARNELL20's review (93 words)

I was at the The Rail Bridge Bistro on Sunday 19th April 2009 - lovely place, lovely staff but I was disappointed with the food. I had the chicken with haggis. Haggis was lovely but the chicked was a tastelesschicken leg on top of the haggis, hardly any sauce or veg, 3 boiled potatoes. They could at least have made it a chicken breast. At £13ish I think this is outrageous. My partner had, basically, fish and chips which was just under £10. Outrageous. We wont be back

bad mannered staff, I actually had the cheek to complain! totally ignored. I even emailed the The Rail Bridge Bistro owner who didn't even have the decency to reply to me Overpriced and small portions (sometimes cooked properly). I'm a local and admit to trying it a few times, each time it got worse. wont go back and never plan to. much better options in the ferry than this overpriced restaurant.- Read ciaran73's review (71 words)

The Rail Bridge Bistro, South Queensferry, has friendly staff, nice setting, good starters. Main meal a long wait, then arrived very disappointing, (Seafood Trio), fish seemed to be overcooked, served with salad (no veg) and potatoes appeared to be burnt which tasted terrible.Started hoovering upstairs, felt we were rushed out, hard to have a conversation with the hoover going on.- Read Guest's review (61 words)

If you haven't been to The Rail Bridge Bistro for a while, give it another go as there is a new manager in place. Food was really good and service was great. Staff managed to accommodate my family (including two kids and two wheel chair bound grandparents) without any trouble. The menu was ideal with a wide choice and many of the main courses available as starters for those with smaller appetites. The children loved the train running round the balcony and my Dad was fasinated with all the ol ...- Read Roxy2008's review (121 words)

We went for lunch on the day the QE2 was in South Queensferry and the place was very very busy. It looked like there was no way to get a seat but a staff member appeared and got us a table for two up stairs by the window, he even spent the time to suggest places to go to get the best view of the boat. The service was first class from the waiter and waitress who served us and the food was excellent. We had a beef burger and a chicken burger and you could tell they had been made fresh that day. Our daughter has moved to Edinburgh from Wales so we expect to have plenty of opportunity to try out restaurants in and around the Edinburgh area again - we'll definitely be going back to The Rail Bridge Bistro in Queensferry though - they've set the standard for Scottish restaurants as far as we're concerned. p.s you MUST try the seafood chowder which is divine.- Read anne3427's review (132 words)

At The Rail Bridge Bistro I experienced;
High prices - I feel that £10 for a burger with no salad or coleslaw is outrageous
Poorly cooked food - I was served cold chips and mussels ( £15 - EH?) that appeared not to have opened yet
I feel it's such a shame this beautiful restaurant was let down with such overpriced and poorly cooked food.- Read DougieDave's review (70 words)
