Totally spoilt an evening with my girlfriend. Cullen skink was too much thick cream and came with its own skin on top. Mushrooms with haggis looked like it had come straight from a cheap frozen food supermarket and salad on side was a disgrace and so limp. Main course steak and chips for £17.95 was an insult. Cooked wrong and served with some frozen French fry style chips, that again felt like had come from same frozen shop they got mushrooms from. And that was it... Nothing else that you… Read Full Review

My husband and I visited the railbridge for the first time last week. We were seated straight away by a young manageress where she told us the specials and we were offered drinks straight away. I have to say the overall experience was fantastic and the food was amazing, especially the meringue! I would really recommend this place and will definately be back. :) … Read Full Review

We went there in August 2011 for a meal prior to going to the Edinburgh Tattoo, we had been there about 3 times in the last 3 years. This time I was so put off by it I felt obliged to write this review.. The tables are in need of a good sand down and re varnish as the are all marked and look dirty. The service from the staff was good they seen us seated and were there taking the order as soon as we were ready. The food came quickly and that is where the biggest disappointment came, I ordered a… Read Full Review

We went here for our last meal of the bank holiday before heading home, we thought we would sit outside as it was such a lovely night, but when we arrived it was full, the waiter said "no problem give me 5 mins and within 5 minutes we had a table. we both had fish I had the smoked haddock and black pudding, which was excellent the two tastes really go well together and my partner had seabass which she said was cooked perfectly. The service throughout was excellent, the main waiter that was… Read Full Review

I feel that sometimes these review sites merely give people a platform to complain about things and after reading some of the more negative reviews i would like to give my review of the railbridge. Yesterday i decided to take advantage of the unexpected weather conditions and treat my wife to a nice glass of wine and a meal. We have been to railbridge a number of times over the past six months so knew it was the ideal place to go, with there large outdoor eating area that gets the sun all day… Read Full Review

after weekending in queensferry and for the past six years have been to this restaurant on many times over this time We were dissapointed at the last visit the staff were not as friendly and when we commented on the frozen chips and sauces in plastic packets we would have expected in our local \mcdonalds and witherspoons i was surprised they didnt take the comments as positive i thought the customer comments was the way to make things better and we did compliment them on the steaks..the tables… Read Full Review

We went on Valentines evening and it was just perfect. The atmosphere was just right with low lighting and candles on all the tables. The food was amazing, we both agreed that it was some of ther best we had tasted for a long time. The desserts were to die for (all home made)The service was excellent, not too fussy but you didn't feel like you were being ignored. Will being going back again and again… Read Full Review

Went last night and the place was packed downstairs, could only see 2 memebers of staff but they seemed to be everywhere at just the right time. we were shown over to the table and drinks were taken which arrived promptly. We then ordered our food and were told there may be a small delay as they were busy, no problem it was nice to get a restaurant that tells you this up front. Within 10 minutes we all had our meals which were superb,I have waited longer for meals in empty places. we then… Read Full Review

We went on a monday lunch thinking they would be quiet but all the tables were taken. despite being busy the service was excellent all the staff were very friendly and helpful. we order the tempura fish which was excellent and my friends had the chowder which they also said was excellent. we then followed that with coffees. we never felt rushed when we were there but the staff were always there to take the order when we needed something.
I would definetely recommend stopping here if you are in… Read Full Review

Initially the service was good, we were seated quickly and efficiently. However, no cutlery was supplied for my daughters main course. There was no salad dressing along with my rib-eye steak but the waiter did bring some when I asked for it. We had to wait a long time between main course and dessert and when it arrived, again there was no cutlery for my daughter. We ordered a large cappuccino and a tea - a small cappuccino and a coffee arrived! My husband ordered a scone with butter and… Read Full Review

Regular customers at the Railbridge Bistro. Me and my family enjoy going out to South Queensferry to view the bridges and have something to eat. I have been to other restaurants in South Queensferry, however, the Railbridge has to be the best value for money. Excellent variety of food, good atmosphere, friendly staff. My kids loved the train that goes around upstairs. They keep wanting to go back for the train, and I cant say no as we enjoy the experience of food and the view. I cannot… Read Full Review

What a lovely little place. My friend and I stopped in for lunch yesterday (Sunday) after spending the morning in town. We decided to sit outside due to the nice weather and the couple serving us were very friendly, approachable and it was nice to see them working with a smile in there face even though it was rather busy. It soon turned chilly however (typical scottish weather) so asked if it would be possible to sit inside and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in accomodating us. I had… Read Full Review

We went last night(Tuesday)and the food was good, but when we arrived we felt that we were interrupting the very young manageress,s conversation with the other waitresses. After we sat down the older lady that looked after us was lovely, she got our drinks and told us the specials, she came to get our order at just the right time and throughout the meal always seemed to be there when we needed something. No complaints about the food, I had steak pie and my friend had the fish and chips and we… Read Full Review

We visited The Rail Bridge Bistro, South Queensferry earlier tonight with our two young sons.
My wife and I both chose the Caesar Salad (mine with chicken, my wife without) as a main course, we expected it to be a main course portion, which it clearly wasn't. We queried this, thinking that perhaps a mistake had been made and a starter portion provided in error. To give them their due, they subsequently deducted the cost of my wife's wine and my cola from the bill.
The kids fish & chips… Read Full Review

They tried to charge a different price for the fish & chips than the one listed in the menu. When pointed out the waitress said "Thats the price programmed into the till" but did change the bill. Should have got bread & butter with the meals but that never appeared.

I thought I'd give this place a second chance having slated it a year ago. How wrong could I have been?
Ridiculously overpriced food that is poorly cooked and rude staff who have never heard of the phrase "Customer Service"
Its such a pity so many tourists will be taken in by these cowboys.
Never again - one star is one too many… Read Full Review
