I have tried many fake tan lotions, mouses etc over the past 10 years. One thing was certain - the first applications were always a disaster, streaking, patches etc. I read reviews of Famous Dave tanning stuff and to be fair it looked as though it was going to beat the rest hands down. I ordered the moisture tan self tanner with bronzer...received the wrong product ....contacted the owner and he tried to say that I did receive the correct product...neither bottles had pro self tanner with bronzer on them like the image on the site that I ordered from. Don't be discouraged by the price, it really is the best sunless-tanning product out there! Everything about it is good quality, and if you are not satisfied the company will give you a full refund. Great for at home use. The dark is golden brown, but not too dark. Not at all orange. No perfume, only a very faint tanner smell which they all have and this was not very noticeable. The lotion goes on nicely, especially with the tanning glove you can purchase. It blends in very nicely and dries quicker and drier than any other tanner I have ever used and I have used everything. I have been using Famous Daves Moisture Tan for several years, now, and have never found another that can compare. Absolutely no streaking, very natural tan, easy to apply. Never a streaky or orange look. Don't waste money on any other product. I have tried many from the cheapest, to the most expensive, and this is the only one I will use! This lotion is a must-have for pale people like me. I struggle to maintain a vibrant tan for longer than a week. So, this lotion will come in handy this winter when I go months without sunshine. I've tried other self-tanners, but there are none like Dave's. There is only a subtle scent. The lotion comes out white and does not stain or rub off on anything. Famous Dave's self tanner is the absolute best on the market. I am a redhead, very fair skin, so I use the one for fair skin and face. It dries quickly w/no odor and leaves a very natural looking tan. I've tried a lot of different self tanners because although I tan easily, there is a history of skin cancer in my family and I avoid sun exposure if possible. The lotion goes on very easily and has a very light fragrance that isn't noticeable once the lotion is applied. I usually put it on after a bath or shower and also use the Tingly Peppermint Scrub which is very refreshing and helps exfoliate/moisturize prior to application. I first tried Famous Dave's Moisture Tan a few summers ago when I saw it on Ebay. I was doubtful as to how it would work, because I have tried literally everything and anything under the sun; cheap and expensive. I bought the darker version of the moisture tan, and use it specifically for my face and neck area, simply because the bottle is quite expensive and this way it will last forever! I use St Moritz tan for the rest of my body as the colour is equally amazing and it's a third of the price so it makes sense, but I wouldn't use it on my face at all. I have been using Dave's Famous Tanning lotion for over a year now. This is the only tanning product I trust. Just like all tanners, you need to be patient and get the hang of how to put it on properly, but once you get your routine down, it's great! Exfoliating is the key, and after you shower 8 plus hours later, make sure you use lotion to help hold your tan on longer. This is by far the best self tanner I have ever used! I'm not able to go tanning anymore because I'm more prone to cancer now due to having an illness I had. This is the closest that I have come to having a nice tan that looks like I've been to a tanning bed. It doesn't turn my skin orange, it doesn't have a smell to it, it dries fast, and it does not get on your clothes! There is nothing bad that I can say about this product. If you want easy, reasonably priced, stain-free and scent-free, then this is the product for you!
I use it year-round as a body lotion, while at the same time getting a natural and beautiful tan.

Okay so first and foremost different fake tans look different on each individual, depending on how your skin has reacted with it. I bought famous dave's gold edition tanning mousse and the application mitt- which was £3.99. I would say I have medium fair skin and the colour just looks fab, its more golden then dark, but thats the colour I would go in the sun anyway- it certainly hasn't made me look orange. After going through many fake tans this has to be the BEST by far..... I put it on using a tanning glove and it goes on a treat...the glove isnt an expencive one it was about 99p from superdrug.
The colour of the tan at first is slightly pinkish but then developes into a gorgeous golden brow, leaves no streaks and i can just top it up whenever i like :).
I love this tan and dont think i will ever use another tanning product.

The worst i EVER used sadly. I had to toss it in the waste basked the same afternoon I opened it. It turned my legs screaming cheese-like orange. It was an orange that shocked me that anyone would sell it that way. How could they care about the buyer with it going to a color like that i thouht? Interesting... doesn't the Fair Skin tan need a couple of applications before it shows up on the skin (even then it's very light cos it's a gradual tanner) and your skin was "screaming orange" in one afternoon?! Right... Also, check the website, 100% satisfaction guarantee.

100% satisfaction guarentee is not correct, I checked the website and made a complaint after the bottle didn't work and instead of mousse i ended up with brown liquid gushing out all over me. They do not refund - I have this in writing from their customer services team. I cant comment on the colour of it though because I never got that far, my carpet and furniture are now a lovely shade of brown though :)

I bought the Famous Dave tanning mousse in the Gold edition and thought it was fantastic.I have tried a couple of different false tans and never liked the result but this for me just looks as if i have had a spray tan done. I found Famous Dave's Moisture Tan really easy to apply, it's a thick cream that absorbs easily and doesnt leave the skin sticky or greasy. No need to use gloves, just make sure you wash your hands well after use, especially around the fingernails etc! The colour is lovely and natural, not a "fake" look, and if you apply a couple of layers you will have a more noticeable tan but I find that one layer is plenty (I am naturally quite pale). I've been using famous daves tanning mousse for about 2 months now, its very hard to apply unless you have a professional glove which cost around £10, the colour comes out in a pink/red which looks silly on me as I'm an olive skin tone! it develops into an okay colour after about 4 hours but as soon as you have a shower to wash the excess away it all just comes off and your left with a wierd orange colour. Wow, did you use it correctly?! Maybe you used too much if the colour guide didn't look right, and also showered too soon if it didn't develop into a proper tan. I find that it only ever smells if I sweat, e.g on a hot day or if i've been to the gym. Also, tanning mitts cost £2-£4.

I bought Famous Dave's Moisture Tan after reading all the great reviews for it. I didn't come across one bad word about it. I tried it for the first time last night and totally agree with this comment! I followed the instructions - I exfoliated in the shower and applied the lotion after the shower by using a fake tan mitt, waited approximately 15 minutes before dressing (into a light summer type dress), went to bed about an hour later and woke up during the night stinking of fake tan. I had a shower first thing this morning and I still smell like a 'gone off biscuit' sitting here at work! I am really streaky also, despite applying a barrier moisturiser to ankles, knees, elbows, etc. The only thing good I can say about it is the colour is quite good - when not streaky! Not a great £25 spent.

Famous Dave's Moisture Tan is a brilliant fake tan, I'm very fair skinned and it gave me a really natural looking tan, not too dark, not too light. It doesnt stain your clothes because it's a white cream and it's not at all messy to apply like most fake tans I've tried. You have to follow the application instructions though, for example don't apply a moisturiser before you apply the tan because it may stop it from developing, and make sure you apply enough of it and apply it evenly. I've used self tanners for years since i have pale skin. Dave's is one of the more useless self tanners I've used. The color is weak. It's rather hard to apply, doesnt go on well. I decided to give this Famous Dave's Moisture Tan fake tan a try after seeing it in lots of magazines (rave reviews), and it didn't disappoint! Really easy to apply, it's a white cream so it doesnt stain your clothes but it's still easy to see where you've applied it. I've used loads of fake tans over the years mainly St Tropez, so i'm used to looking slightly brown/slightly orange. I used the Famous Dave Mousse and i have to agree that it does smell while it's developing, but my problem was putting it on. It dries that quickly that I found it hard to blend properly and ended up with patches on my skin that looked like mud that needed to be wiped off. I have very pale skin and have tried dozens of tanning products, and Famous Dave's Moisture Tan is by far the best fake tan I've tried. The colour is exactly the colour I would tan naturally (after 2 weeks in the sun!), and is definitely not orange like so many others I've used in the past. I guess if you're looking to achieve a dark fake bake tan, this product's not for you but it's perfect for my skin colour, whereas fake bake looks like mud on me! (read more)

I bought the Famous Dave's Moisture Tan tan and I really dont like it! It goes on orange and leaves your skin feeling dry. I really wish i never wasted my money on this product and stuck to buying Xen tan its way better leaves your skin feeling smooth and has a really nice smell.
Famous Dave smells ok but once you put it on your skin and it drys in it smells like you have slapped curry sauce all over your body.

I have used various sunless tanners over the past several years and have been disappointed overall. I am a natural blonde with fair skin (reddish undertones) so I don't tan easily and usually burn. I bought the Famous Dave's moisture tan lotion and mousse set and was really happy with both. The Mousse gave me a darker tan than the lotion, I'd recommend using the mousse when you already have a bit of colour if you're really pale like me. The lotion gave me a really natural looking tan, not at all orange, and I was brown after just one application. Firstly if you're going to use Famous Dave's Moisture Tan it will turn you darker and you won't turn orange or patchy if you use it correctly
i'd keep the following in mind before ordering and during application;
-firstly the bottle is quite small, and if you're really stupid like me you'll look at the picture on the website instead of the amount and assume it is larger, but this isn't an extremely important point
- don't be fooled, even on fair skinned people such as myself this product...

Bought the Famous Daves 200ml Dark Mousse recently after trying many other including Xen Tan, St Tropez, Fake Bake etc & I am very impressed! Mousse goes on evenly & dries quickly & there is not a strong 'fake tan' smell. After 3 hours I had a lovely golden tan which didnt look fake at all, no orangey hue or streaks! One application of Famous Dave's Moisture Tan had very little effect in darkening my skin so it took about three applications to get any noticeable tan. At £20 a bottle that works out very expensive. And although it is fragrance free when you apply it, a couple of hours later it smells just like all the others. I have uneven skin on my legs, they are hardly ever smooth and blemish free so I've struggled to find a tanner that is even and doesn't make me look even worse!!! But the struggle is over! I got Famous Dave's today, exfoliated and applied it as evenly as I could and not only has it developed into a beautiful colour but it's covered over my flaws and my legs look better than they have in ages!! It did still have a very slight after smell, but I found it to be far less than most shop bought ones I've tried, which it does state on their site. It went on very easy and spread well with no patching and minimal useage. I found it to be a very realistic colour. Not at all orange. Maybe spoke a tad too soon.
After 3 days I have found that my legs have developed a crazy-paving effect. The tan looks like a jigsaw. Maybe it's because I did apply two heavy coats within 3 hours. Nevertheless, I will let it fade and try again in a more subtle manner.
