Good Points: It did all it should do for 15 months
Bad Points: Second time it's gone wrong
General comments: Had the first Digihome PVR80/160 for 2 months it stopped receiving TV Channels altogether but could pay all recorded programs. For the technical the RF stage had gone down. It was replaced by Argos where we bought it, no fuss. Now 15 months and out of guarantee the replacement has exactly the same fault.Electronic items should last longer than 15 months. Argos say it's not a repairable item.

The Digihome PVR80/160 has a 7 day EPG ,easy to use ,set programs to record and they do record the picture quality is the best I have seen, also pause live TV is good if you want to make a cup of coffee. Recommend to a first time buy of HDD recorders.

Just updated from the old style 80g model to the new style160g which has a whole host of new features, as does the new 80g model, including record 2 channels whilst watching another and series recording, I believe the new features are due to the new "Freeveiw playback" code which means any PVR showing this logo has to come up to the new standard.

when watching recorded items why does the sound go off, to get it back i press stop then play to get sound back. Also i have had it freeze up on me at playback, it then renders useless.
the box will perform nothing. i have to turn the power off at the socket, put it back on and allow the box to re-install, luckily everything recorded is still on the hard drive. Would love to know if other people are experiencing the same

No software updates as yet, makes me feel uneasy
Can only record one prog at a time
Can only time shift after pausing, not at any time as with sagem.
overall a good product does what it says on the box.

Having just come to the end of my tether with a ferociously complicated JVC combined VHS and DVD recorder I was ready to give up tv altoghether so to get something which was a) cheap. B) useable is fantastic.
Go for the 160GB version if you can afford to - once you've got some films recorded you start to eat into the disk space.

Firstly, can I point out that this review, although primarily about the Digihome PVR80 can also be applied to a whole host of other PVR's under various assumed identities, but all made by the same manufacturer, Vestel. It comes badged as Techwood, Goodmans, Grundig, Sharp, Hitachi and others with the only real changes (apart form price) being cosmetic and the choice of hard drive size!
The Digihome variation can be purchased from Argos for a very reasonable price and is available in 80Gig and 1 ...
