    Good Points: Picture quality is excellent as is upscaled standard definition dvds. Sound is top notch. Will play any HD DVD's from any country.


    Bad Points: Unable to play my huge collection of region 1 standard definition DVD's. No 1080p output. Needed to update the firmware as encountered problems with cd's and s/d dvd's but Toshiba quickly sent me the necessary disc (or you can do it over the internet) and it worked a treat.


    General comments: The lack of 1080p output on the Toshiba HD-E1 is fine with me as my plasma can only display up to 1080i. Gutted at the lack of region 1 s/d dvd but in general very pleased with the performance. The price is now very low, so now's a good time to dive in as the price is right. Bogging shame Block Buster video don't rent HD DVD's.
