“Don't risk it!”

Written on: 21/05/2013 by macster1981 (1 review written)

Absolutely shocking. I've been with Green Flag for 10 years, across 3 cars, and before I broke down in my current one last week, I'd had to call them out to the previous two once each. Both times the firm they used came out reasonably quickly - the first time recovering me to my parents'(although initially querying why I wanted taking there! "Er, well, that's where I'm going!") and the second time finding the fault and helping me fix it if it happened again. However, both those times I... (read more)

“Breakdown on bank holiday”

Written on: 06/05/2013

Have had cover for 2 years and had to call on them for the first time today. Luckily we hAd not hitched the caravan up but car broke down 3 miles from home. FAM were called and took over the hour to arrive. Despite being local service , they couldn't find us on a well known main road and then could not help at roadside or even suggest a garage to go to. We recommended our own known garage and got a tow. Certainly not worth the annual fee for that service. Will not be renewing and will also... (read more)

Stranded in central France with a small child for 4 days without any help with hire car. After breaking down in central France, we were eager to continue our journey to the Cote d'Azur but unable to as car was taken to dealer garage, it took a day and a half for them to assess the fault(s)and come up with an extortionate fee to fix the car and five days in which to do so. After many expensive phone calls to green flag, they assured me they would "set a task" to arrange hire car, this never... (read more)

Called green flag as I have cover through my bank account. Needed someone to fit a replacement battery in my Citreon c4 grand picasso. Came out very quickly but not very impressed as they had been advised it was just for a jump start. Lots of tutting later and advised that I would need to pay something towards labour which is £20 for 30 mins or part. My run flat tyre blew near to Scotch Corner. Phoned Direct line who called Green Flag. After nearly 2 hours, phoned again. 15 minutes later a tow truck appeared . He said he couldn't take us home , although we have nationwide cover, but said that a garage in Penrith had a run flat which would fit the car. After another 20 minutes another truck appeared and dropped us off at the garage. As it was Easter Monday, the garage charged an additional £50+ vat. At no point were we told that this... If you intend to breakdown in Gatwick great they have a good service nice polite and can’t do enough until you are moving again, where I live (Cambridgeshire) they use Parker Fry terrible, rude, unhelpful and aggressive. I have 3 cars all on their own polices with Green Flag, I won’t come renewal. Terrible service if you get Parker Fry sent to you. Rubbish really don't go there. The assistant said he would call the office to see if he could upgrade, but when he phoned, and left it on loud speaker , the operative said no there was nothing they could do ..... that he had other jobs to get too, ... so sorry mate you have to just leave her !!!! She was left stranded in a service station late at night, and I was as distress knowing this and that she was lone with no charge left in her battery. It's pretty clear in the sales information whether you are getting national recovery or recovery to a local garage. Maybe read the policy next time instead of blaming the company?
I've been reading through some of these reviews and quite a few of them seem to be from people who haven't bothered to check what they are buying. If you take out an annual policy for £30.00 it's not likely to give you 5 star cover.
