“Spam calling through RAC's Signa”

Written on: 30/07/2015 by ShaneUK (2 reviews written)

I'm not sure how well my breakdown cover is, as I've not broken down yet but there is one aspect that grates me, selling my data. I never click that box that allows to share within carefully selected third parties as I despise spam hard calling, RAC however seem to have found a way round that ( or so they think ) by just giving your details within the Signa group. Everyday for the past week, and intermittently before that I've been called by someone within the Signa group ( part of the RAC… Read Full Review

“Terrible”

Written on: 28/07/2015 by Page310 (1 review written)

Hello, I checked my account today and money had been taken for a renewal which I was unaware of. I contact RAC around March time 2014 I believe as I changed cars and had also moved but it turns out my address had not been updated. I rang customer services who transferred me to your renewal department where I was told as the payment had been taken outside the 14 day cooling off period which was the 24th, now the 28th I was unable to cancel or get a refund and have to run with it for the year… Read Full Review

“Response time more than 3 hours is completely...”

Written on: 27/07/2015 by johnvm (1 review written)

The RAC would have left my wife stranded for more than three hours, broken down on a busy crossroads in the centre of an Oxfordshire town. She complained when the RAC phoned to tell her that it would be more than 3 hours, but they were unwilling or unable to change their schedule. That's completely unacceptable. With the help of a friend I reached her, assessed the problem (clutch fault), phoned a local garage to recover the car and cancelled the RAC call-out. I would cancel my RAC… Read Full Review

“Communication break down”

Written on: 29/06/2015 by charlie19 (1 review written)

It was my misfortune to suffer a breakdown of my Kia Sorrento in France recently, however I felt reassured that I had the full backing of the RAC European Breakdown Cover to fall back on. And to be fair everything went smoothly with the provision of a Hire Car, and Taxi to take me to Rental Agency. I also let I be known to the RAC agent from the outset my departure date for return to the UK driven by the need to be back in time for an urgent Medical appointment. Which he acknowledged. What… Read Full Review

“Outstanding service highly recommend”

Written on: 20/06/2015 by Dalethechippy (1 review written)

I purchased RAC breakdown cover with my bike insurance for a bike I had just brought. The first time on the bike and 15 minutes later it broke down so I phoned the RAC and was asked for my details, as I had only purchased my bike insurance the day before RAC had no record of me by name or bike details but said this was no problem and sent out a mechanic that sorted it out. Day 2 again out on my bike with my wife and broke down as before RAC had no record I asked if the bike could be taken to a… Read Full Review

“Appalling customer service”

Written on: 16/06/2015 by simonfisher1 (1 review written)

Called RAC out to change wheel because of a puncture. 10 days later that same wheel fell off the car while it was been driven by my wife. Very fortunate that there was not a fatality. On assessment, the wheelnuts had been cross threaded when the wheel was changed over by the RAC. This was backed up independently by: 1 garage owner, 4 mechanics and 1 person with a degree in mechanical engineering who all agreed 100% that the wheelnuts had been cross threaded. RAC's response was it was not there… Read Full Review

“RAC's trailer assist (PRP) refused to come out”

Written on: 07/06/2015

they will take your money and when you are stuck with a horse trailer at the side of the road they will refuse to come out. Thats if you can wait 30 min in a call queue for them to bother to answer the phone. After an hour an a half a normal RAC patrol man turned up but he refused to jack up the trailer in order to change the wheel and refused to contact PRP as he said they were nothing to do with the RAC. Well the RAC were the ones who took my money for this service and the PRP card has… Read Full Review

“Profiteering and hard sell”

Written on: 07/06/2015 by OldPhysicist (1 review written)

One evening I called out the RAC breakdown service when I found that the battery was flat, since I had forgotten to switch off the lights. The man arrived after about 45 minutes. He started the engine with his charger unit. So far so good, and that was all I really wanted or needed. However he also checked the quality of the battery and reported that it should be replaced due to age. Like a fool I agreed to pay £110 for a new battery. He also checked the oil and found that the level was at the… Read Full Review

“beware of " no fee refund " policy”

Written on: 01/06/2015 by stuartredbarn (1 review written)

We renewed our 2 car policy at a cost of £230 knowing that we were shortly to change the main car on the policy for which we had European cover. After the first two months we traded in the main car for a one year old car which included two years of complimentary breakdown cover with Honda . The majority of RAC cover was therefore no longer required and it would seem reasonable to expect a proportionate refund of unexpired cover . The RAC , however , will not repay a penny on either partial… Read Full Review

“LEFT MY DAUGHTER STRANDED”

Written on: 24/04/2015 by fedmundson (5 reviews written)

I changed from the AA after more than 10 years with them, NO COMPLAINTS, and went the RAC. What a mistake. I took out family cover, any vehicle. My daughter had a puncture on her way to work on a country road. She rang for assitance and was asked for her car registration number, which she gave. The RAC would not deal with her because they did not have that registration number registered with them. Evidently the RAC have several different products including one that is vehicle based. As a newly… Read Full Review

“I should of never left the AA”

Written on: 05/04/2015

After 14 years with the AA and perfect service from them I decided to save a few pounds and go with the RAC, what a mistake! I had vehicle based cover and was left stranded as the mechanic couldn't fix it and they wouldn't recover the van because it was too long. (the AA recovered the same van the year before). So I rang the AA who renewed my membership and came out to me, The AA did a temporary repair which took them only 5 minutes to do. The RAC will not give me a refund… Read Full Review

“The RAC seriously damaged my van, and will not...”

Written on: 17/03/2015 by FBurns (1 review written)

At around 10.30am on 16/10/2014 my we called the RAC as our luton van's wheel bearing failed. The patrol man arrived about an hour later, confirming the fault. He booked a recovery, a contractor, who took over 2 hours to arrive. Despite being clear the van was a twin wheel and partially loaded, the driver announced the van was too big for his 7.5 ton truck. Four hours later (18.30) I called the RAC to find the job had been closed due to a truck attending. So we waited for a second truck to… Read Full Review

“READ BEFORE TAKING OUT RAC INSURANCE ”

Written on: 11/02/2015

You would think that the RAC would be here to support the motorist, saving costs etc etc or so I thought, until I tried to change my address on my car insurance policy on their self service site. To my amazement I was going to be charged £38 and since my wife also had her car insurance with the RAC that was going to cost us a staggering £76, just to change our address online. I contacted them and after a long conversation, they agreed to waiver my wife's costs, however they then reinstated… Read Full Review
