Recently called out the RAC for the first time via their breakdown service. I was stuck at a hospital following a night shift!!.The RAC responded within 20 mins following my phone call, and the operative was Polite,friendly,and did his absolute best to get my aged car working again-sucsessfully which got me home 40 miles away! “LEFT MY DAUGHTER STRANDED”

I changed from the AA after more than 10 years with them, NO COMPLAINTS, and went the RAC. What a mistake. I took out family cover, any vehicle. My daughter had a puncture on her way to work on a country road. She rang for assitance and was asked for her car registration number, which she gave. The RAC would not deal with her because they did not have that registration number registered with them. Evidently the RAC have several different products including one that is vehicle based. “I should of never left the AA”

After 14 years with the AA and perfect service from them I decided to save a few pounds and go with the RAC, what a mistake! I had vehicle based cover and was left stranded as the mechanic couldn't fix it and they wouldn't recover the van because it was too long. (the AA recovered the same van the year before). So I rang the AA who renewed my membership and came out to me, The AA did a temporary repair which took them only 5 minutes to do. The RAC will not give me a refund… Read Full Review

“Brilliant Setvice”

Phoned RAC today spoke to a lady I didn't have my card details she went through a security check abd was so polite and helpful. She said not to worry, within 15 mins an RAC guy arrived, checked battery and alternator, said flat battery got the car started. “The RAC seriously damaged my van, and will not...”

At around 10.30am on 16/10/2014 my we called the RAC as our luton van's wheel bearing failed. The patrol man arrived about an hour later, confirming the fault. He booked a recovery, a contractor, who took over 2 hours to arrive. Despite being clear the van was a twin wheel and partially loaded, the driver announced the van was too big for his 7.5 ton truck. Used rac 3 times 1st time the driver disguarded what i said what i said was wrong with my van and towed me and left my van on double yellow lines had to argue with him to remove it off the lines. And it was exactly what i said air trapped in my fuel system. All rac said be greatful they dropped me back. 2nd time they left me waiting 2 and half hours on the motorway after they said they be a hour. I put in a complaint an was told that they have done nothing wrong its not their advisors duty to ask women if they are alone or with children ! Company is a joke an as for there complaints managers well rude an arrogant !! Now with the AA at least when you phone the 1st question is about your safety an the longest wait is 1hr !!!

“READ BEFORE TAKING OUT RAC INSURANCE ”

You would think that the RAC would be here to support the motorist, saving costs etc etc or so I thought, until I tried to change my address on my car insurance policy on their self service site. To my amazement I was going to be charged £38 and since my wife also had her car insurance with the RAC that was going to cost us a staggering £76, just to change our address online. “Worst Customer Services Ever”

I have dealt with RAC on three occasions recently, flat battery, broken window and engine problem. In all three cases I received totally incompetent, and sometimes dishonest responses from their arrogant, rude and passive aggressive call centre staff. I had to spend the night sleeping in my car because they didn't book me a hotel room when my car window was unable to be closed. They don't call back when they say they will. Someone interested in a car I have for sale asked if they could have it inspected by the RAC, which I had no objection to. The RAC inspector came (with a bad attitude from the start) started the car and asked for the paperwork, which I gave to him. In September 2014 I joined The RAC (Motorcycle Breakdown) the level of cover consist of the following RAC Roadside, Recovery, At home, Onward Travel and European Motoring Assistant. Basically comprehensive Cover, It’s the first time I’ve used this cover and the first time I’ve used The RAC. “Disgraceful service”

We made the call at 1.30pm . We told them the clutch had gone on ou 3.5ton van. They still only sent a small van out first wich took 3 hours, he then agreed it was the clutch and then we was told it's going to be at least 2 half hours for the recovery. Needless to say Monday I'm cancelling everything I have with RAC we run 4 vans. The service from this company is disgraceful… Read Full Review

Phone @ 8pm as lights were not working, get told they will be there within an hour. Which is a relief as have a child in the car with me !!!!!! Then the person has got stuck in traffic and is near the end of his shift so is now going home. So have to wait now for another 1. I found the Rac to be totally and utterly incompetent. The customer service was a disgrace. Customer advisers contradicting each other. The person handling my complaint showed no empathy to the concerns I was raising. Her investigation into 'non payment' was one sided and only looked at the evidence the company had.
