“Friendly and there!”

As my mum had insured herself and she was driving my car at the time with me we were covered by the RAC. They got to me within 7 minutes with continual texts to update and a phone call from the driver! I was stuck with a blown out tyre in a mud bath but the driver was as friendly as anything and easily got it fixed. Even though his van got stuck in the mud he kept it entertaining... “Avoid at all costs do not use”

I broke down rac came out replaced a part which I paid for but the next time I used the car I broke down again with same problem rac came out got car started by pulling something in engine but said I needed to go straight home as it wasn't fixed and he didn't know what was wrong and would break down again so I had to drive 7 miles home with a new born baby and 3 other children terrified that every time I slowed down at a junction etc I would breakdown again. “Terrible Customer Service”

I tried to get a receipt from the RAC for some work that they had done (replacement tyre). It took me 8 calls and 45 minutes and still I had no receipt. They just kept bouncing me back to their very long telephone queue. “Excellent services”

I'm a lady driver and unfortunately I had a puncture there is no spare with my car, not that I know how to change a tyre.I contacted the RAC I had a very friendly man who handled my call with no fuss at all. I was in no danger as I had got to my local supermarket however they arrived within 20 mins of my call he pumped my tyre up and even seen me safely to my local garage to get it repaired. “Worse service provider ”

My car broke down with family (including 2 young children) in the car at 11am in July. We waited for over 7 hours for the toll van to get to us. And during the wait, we had to wait with the car! My car eventually got collected at 6:40pm but was not delivered at my destination till after 1am (apparently their toll van also broke down on the motorway!!!). “Stranded!”

RAC left me stranded and distraught. I am not a mechanic but I do know that when you hear a grating metal noise and you have smoke coming from your car it is broken. So I pulled to the side of the road and called the RAC who I have been a member with for 2 years and thankfully have never had to call. “Dreadful complaints process”

My car began to show a problem with the battery so I called the RAC into help. The fitted a new premium battery for £108. A month later the problem came back. I guessed their must be something else wrong so called back the RAC to ask for advice. The technician said the battery was dead, and offered to fit a new one (again, for free). “What a relief to realise I had you help. Thank you”

I had punctures on both near side tyres and a feeling of helplessness but one phone call was all it took to get the help I needed. I am disabled and have called out RAC twice over the years. The most recent today 1st September 2014. Telephone answered immediately. Explained car was completely dead. They enquired if I was safe and ok. Advised I was at Home. Advised someone would be with me in 60 Mins. ten minutes later received acall to tell me they were on their way. “1st time use with a 7hr ETA!”

Rubbish service! I called RAC just before 5pm from M20 maidstone services, yesterday 28/8/2014, a was assured that someone would be with me within 75 mins, I did explain, my rear tyre on my motorcycle was beyond economical repair so please send a vehicle suitable to tow the big motorcycle rather than a patrol to fix it, anyway a patrol rang nr the 75 min deadline and introduced himself as the RAC man in a van with no trailer, to which I told him hes wasting his time, so he made a few calls, and… Read Full Review

We broke down 200 miles from home and phoned the rac. They came out within an hour to try and get us going but unsuccessful. We stayed in a travelodge that was already arranged and without any hesitation towed me all the way home the next morning. OK, keep going all of you who have been let down by the RAC. We have just had our case with the FOS settled in our favour. It was a simple case of being sold one thing - then being deigned what was due when needed. Ours was European Breakdown - promised a large vehicle - or 2 vehicles if we broke down as kids, camping gear, bicycles etc. This is all in the contract. Myself and my mother have been with rac. Since 2011, I have called them out only once in that time. I have just got in tonite at 11 o'clock,I broke down tonite at 6.30,I was eventually Collected at 10.o'clock. Worst of all I was a woman on her own!!!! Say no more… Read Full Review

broke down in the middle of Swansea - told i would have to wait 75 mins - deadline passed had a call from the rac to say a contractor would be coming in another 165 mins - attitude from them was terrible they just said thats how long its going to be and if i did not like it they would reallocate the contractor to someone else -- will not be renewing next year… Read Full Review

I told them not to take my renewal due 1 Aug. I told them on 23 July but they still took £89.77. Now they are refusing to refund it and they won't let me speak to a manager. They say their CRT take complaints but you end up waiting in a queue for over an hour and give up. Looks like I've lost £89.77, I will try my credit card company but below £100 so probably no help. RAC in my experience are a diabolical organisation with no sense of customer service. A guy told me it was my final warning & that he would hang up if I kept asking for a manager. I was polite & never swore. he hung up. Now complained to ombudsman.

I joined rac in july 2013 paid for roadside. Went on holiday 200 miles from home in the uk. On the day before returning home went to the car found it had a flat tyre contacted rac which told me to use space saver and look for garage the next day to repair the puncture. My policy states that they would repair tyre if possible didn, t even offer the very basic service. The only repair an RAC patrol can make at the side of the road on a tyre is that of a temporary and emergency nature, if a suitable spare is not available, ie not serviceable or not supplied by the manufacturer, and even in this situation the vehicle cannot be driven above 40mph. I don't see what the problem is nor why you are trying to defame the company. You had a flat tyre you called RAC they advised you fit the spare. If you wasn't confident in fitting the spare or just wanted a technician to fit it for you then you should of requested that. Again if it was a temporary spare your vehicle had then that again would have had a maximum 50mph speed restriction.
I've heard GREEN FLAG are really really efficient and quick, maybe give them a try. Lols

The service I received was atrocious and I was unhappy with the information I received and asked to speak to a manger . I was informed by the advisor "THAT THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN".. I waited 15 minutes on 0800 number on my mobile to speak to customer services. Then I was told the recovery truck would be there at 2 40pm but failed to arrive.
