i bought my SRI 1.9 CDTI 150 Vectra, a 2008 car in Feb 2009 with 15000 miles on the clock, as of April 2015 it has 228000 miles on the clock, original battery, exhaust, rear brake discs, alternator. During the warranty period it had no faults. I have it serviced at 20000 miles as per the service schedule by an independent garage, it uses no oil or water and is not driven carefully at all. I have driven to the Mediterranean coast with it, no problems, the only reason I have had to contact Vauxhall was for extra pages for my service book, I know I will have to change it sometime, but will I get anything better?

I love my Vectra SRI, when I bought this car after going through so many of them to find a balance between fuel consumption, space, reliability amd power it was the only one that grabbed my attention.

i have had this car for a very short while but so far so good drove to northampton and back from where i live in sussex and the fuel economy is fantastic could not believe how much little fuel i had used cruises great on cruise control its very quick to move however seeing some of the other reviews its shocking but think its just bad luck when you buy any car you take a chance on it and hope that nothing goes wrong but so far excellent choice of car as far as i am concerned .

I have had my Vectra SRi for 4.5 years, covered 120,000 miles in it and it has never let me down. It has ABS, and that's all, so you get to drive it properly. It,s lowered suspension helps you in the corners and provided you are in the right gear, the torque pulls you through it smoothly. You can almost list one of your hobbies as "motoring". The stereo is excellent, plays MP3 files as well, so I have one disc with 12 albums on, who needs a multichanger. I also plug my iPhone in for better music enjoyment via the jack plug in the center consul. The seats are supportive in a straight line and while cornering. If you have one with the Sat Nav, it is worth every penny as this option works off postcodes street names and house numbers, so takes you to the door of your destination. Acceleration in 5th is staggering above 65mph, you will reach 100mph very quickly as the pull on it is a real surprise. 0-60 is in the 9 second region, no slouch for a diesel by any standards. I have driven my car for work for most of the miles and always felt that the car, under any weather conditions, was well balanced and forgiving. The boot is huge with a light, no ratting, aircon is more than adequate and dealt with all the extream temperatures. I have to change my car ow and quite frankly, will be sad to see it go, as I have driven the Insignia which is soulless in comparison to this model,

I too cannot believe the problems people are highlighting on other reviews - its not the Vectra that I know. All cars have faults and it seems that only those with problems are highlighted. But credit where credit's due - we have not just one but two Vectras and they are both absolutely superb. The first I bought new in 2008 and its covered 100,000 miles - not even one single problem, seriously not even one. All I've done is replace tyres and have it serviced at its recommended intervals and replaced the timing belt. At nearly 90,000 miles it sailed through its first MoT - not even one thing to be done to it. Superb. I'm a high mileage user and so passed the first one to my wife who doesn't do many miles (now done 100,000 miles and still nothing needing doing to it - runs like a dream). At the same time I bought a secondhand Vectra 1.9 cdti 150bhp with 50,000 miles on the clock. It's superb as well and I've had none of the problems reported by other reviewers on here. Its now done nearly 80,000 miles and it still runs like a dream and I've spent nothing on it except for normal/regular servicing. I've had Ford Mondeos and VW Passats and which one do I find the most comfortable, the most reliable, and the fastest? Vecta 1.9 cdti 150bhp - by a mile. Really comfortable and eats up motorway miles with ease. Seriously good value for money. Superb car.

Oh dear. I am amazed how many problems are detailed in most of the reviews here. My first used 1999 petrol 1.6 Vectra was bought in a hurry at 124,000 miles from a private seller, got more than 2000 miles out of it, ran smooth (although engine wasn't powerful) without smoking, used good petrol (not supermarket's) and Castrol oils, serviced timely, only two things were replaced - one trye and a battery during this period. Next I bought year 2000 Astra 1.6 petrol which did well again (only battery and rear exhaust were replaced). Now own a year 2007 used Vectra 1.9 Cdti 150 since end 2010, bought from a well known used car dealer, got all extended warranty etc., NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. Hear again, No Problems. This car is very efficient, truly reliable (like my previous Vauxhall's), still buy good diesel (fuel quality most important to get long engine service life, good fuel efficiency, and avoiding problems with valves and so many things). A used Vectra gives you good value for money, as it has all great features like its rivals. Before I went for this Vectra I moved to Manchester area and was thinking of going for a Ford Focus, but one morning at the traffic lights in the town centre I saw an abandoned almost new Focus in the middle of road. That's when I decided to buy another Vauxhall as I had read lots of reviews about used Ford's ECU and engine problems which made it very unreliable, imagine the engine having stopped running on a motorway. I suggest : (1) Go for a used car (specially a diesel one) from a reputed garage/dealer even though its a little pricey, (2) Use best quality fuel and oils, timely service and drive wisely, and (3) think about overall safety as well (a car is like a bullet on a fast road). This is my own experience. I understand some gentle humans will still disagree with all this.

I have a 1.9 cdti, i bout it as an ex lease car at 3 years old. milage above average (80k) but the engine seemed clean and the car ok. i now have 182k on the clock and have yet to have a problem with the engine. i think maybe i have just been lucky. i do change the oil every 8-10k miles so more often than suggested by main dealer. only things i have had to change are rear suspension bushes, broken rear spring and a headlight that a pheasant took out! so all in all i like the car and have no problems with it. i know there is a few jobs that need doing, one of the front shocks is a bit damp, so that will need changing for the next MOT and the condenser for the A/C has taken a battering from stone chip damage. front strut top bearings are a bit noisey. all exceptable wear and tear i guess at 0ver 180k milage.

i Bought a 19cdtdi Vectra Elite 2 years ago it is a six speed automatic it has been no problem and is 100% reliable i have had Vauxhall,s since the late seventy,s i have had all the vectra,s from the start and have not had any problems with any of them if they are serviced regular and done by a dealer then normally you should have no problems i find the 150 bhp much better than the 120 bhp as the vectra is a heavy car the 120 is underpowered

In the real world (not silly road tests) a very useable car.I have the 6 speed auto elite model, which gives good performance and excellent m.p.g. with all the toys. A most comfortable and relaxing drive, pity its not now made.

We have purchased the 1.9 Vectra last week and thoroughly love it. We previously owned a 2003 2.2 Vectra and the suspension was shocking, not to mention the fact that it was in the garage every month without fail - not funny with the cost of parts these days. I guess it was just a 'bad egg' It's amazing just how much better the 1.9 is, the suspension is rock solid, the engine is extremely quiet for a diesel and it holds the road a treat - fantastic car so far....watch this space...oh yeah and fuel economy is amazing!

Took delivery of my new 2009 black Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150 SRi 5dr last week. I thought it strange to make a new model in 2008 and stop it in 2009, after all it is now perfect. Not so, it has been kept quiet but was a test bed for the Insignia. This is no bad thing as the power for a 1.9 diesel is amazing and the car is a head turner.
My only complaint is that it is now so quiet you don't hear that music that is the roar of the turbo. Just sit in and it shouts class and a superb build quality. The dull clunk of the door and you feel your in a car that's well over £21.000.
I did try the exact same car in the Insignia line (which was slightly cheaper!) and it was a beefed up Vectra. This is a clever move in the white collar market as the newer Vectra's have been very popular and will appeal to those who have owned one. It is going to give any similar classed car a good run for it's money and will be popular.
Back to the Vectra, it is a beautiful cruiser that can turn into a beast in a second. The balance of great suspension and steering glues it to the road on bends and is real fun! I hated the old Vectra's and preferred the slightly smaller Astra, but this new one will give you enough to smile with pride. One superb car!

i own a Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTi 150 SRi 5dr, i love it. the 1.9 CDTI diesel in the SRI is a fantastic engine producing 150 bhp. the acceleration is awesome and the pickup in third gear is amazing. the boot is huge. the cabin is also a reasonable size. Some materials could be better. but with this much power and the exhilarating rise you will hardly notice. Also the price for a second hand one (6 months old) is very reasonable for the amount of car you get.

I have driven the Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 Exclusive and this SRI if you are choosing which model choose the SRI! The boot is big enough for a family of 5 (mine) to fit all their luggage in, the seats are comfortable and the kids don't moan about there not being enough room, when I am out driving there is not many cars that I can't keep up with and some are not happy when my deisel roars past them at 3000 revs in 6 speed.
