both course cold and sent back. poor quality food champignon de paris a laugh cheap tinned button mushrooms and nasty cheap cheese. A very bad experience complained at time, given bottle of wine, and meals exchanged. But upon further reflection I feel more could have been done. Went to Witney to try the new Cafe Rouge, as the flyer they handed out said they were doing 1 course for £5.95 up until 5pm, and friends had told us the food was good.

Arrived at 2.30pm, and it was packed, so we were told to come back later.

45 minutes later, we came back, and despite the restaurant now being 1/3 empty, we were rudely told to go away as they were now clearing up the restaurant for dinner, so to come back later (for dinner)!

I don't know any restaurants who need to clea ...

Ordered food and wine. House wine not chilled so ordered another. Fish cakes luke warm in parts, cold in others. At least 12 minutes to clear plates. Not offered desert menu or coffee. Eventually asked for bill. Waited and waited, gave up and went to till. Headman/manager at till completely blanked me and walked away. After standing there a while he came back. Told him food very disappointing. Mumbled something indecipherable and knocked £6 off bill. His attitude was one of every ...

Our first visit to a Cafe Rouge and probably the best meal we've had in the UK. Very authentically French, food superbly prepared and cooked to perfection. Service excellent and prices reasonable for the quality and portions.
Olive appetiser - good. Soupe de poissons - just as good as the best we've had in France. Fruits de mer dieppoise and the Loup de mer - cooked perfectly, the fish just right and the vegetables al dente.
Menu has good descriptions of each dish. The creme brulee - wonderful. ...

I met up with my brother at the Exeter branch of Cafe Rouge, we were both swiftly seated with a friendly waitress, despite this we had to help ourselves to menus from the bar staff and flag down another waiter as the girl who had seated us seemed to have forgotten about us although the resturant was not massively busy, it was a thursday and just after lunch. After that awkward start, we ordered:revettes du Caf Rouge as a starter.King prawns with a lovely tomato chilli dip and a basket of baguet ...

I dined at leeds Cafe Rouge at the light, headrow , leeds today. This was my first visit to the Headrow restaurant, but have dined many times at the Leeds Corner Exchange site of Cafe Rouge, and have had many a happy meal there. I was therefore very disappointed to have 'SUB STANDARD' meal.

I ordered King Prawns in tomato garlic sauce for my starters. The price for this was £5.95. I was therefore very disappointed to received a tiny turine with excactly 5.5 prawns in it. thats'exa ...

The local branch of Cafe Rouge is of course part of a chain setup, and it is not offering grande cuisine at the top end, but it manages to have a distinct individual atmosphere, and I have visited them many times, always enjoying the good informal atmosphere and excellent cooking. The menu is fairly short and does not change much, but the materials used are fresh, and the preparation quite skilled; the idiom is French, and they take good care of detail in the French way. I have not sampled the ...
