“demanding”

Written on: 10/04/2016 by Cameron10 (1 review written)

I have been with Payplan almost 3 years. It was going well until last year. I sent my documents for the annual review, they said had not received this information and wrongly recorded this in a Summary. I also had 6k of ppi paid into the Iva, they said in the summary I hadn't paid enough into the plan. I am already 6k in front. Despite having been on maternity leave and now having an extra mouth to feed, they are still demanding more money. I also earn less due to a reduction in hours. The… Read Full Review

I have been in a DMP with Payplan for approx 5 years. This year is my final year and i will then be debt free. I have had no contact from my creditors since starting my DMP. This was the best decision and i would advise anyone struggling to contact Payplan :)… Read Full Review

“LIFE CHANGING DECISION”

Written on: 21/03/2016 by yvCrowley94 (1 review written)

I had run up unsecured debts of nearly £80,000 over a seven year period an then I lost my job. Even before redundancy I was struggling every month with massive credit card interest, added late interest and endless phone calls. I managed to get another job within a couple of months but now realised that I couldnt carry on. Went to Citizens advice intially and they were quite dismissive, so called Payplan after seeing some information on line and never looked back. They work out your available… Read Full Review

“why use any of them?”

Written on: 11/02/2016 by eddy100 (1 review written)

I have read through a lot of these reviews concerning debt management company's and in particular this pay plan outfit. I feel empathy for all of you people who are trapped in this debt cycle, that is why if the moderator allows this post through, I am going to give you all some advice. Firstly you must lose the fear. Debt management company's, all of them are not there for your benefit, even though they intimate that they are. If anything they are there to maintain the illusion that you have… Read Full Review

“Increased paymen demands”

Written on: 22/01/2016 by 1948Jones (1 review written)

I've been with Payplan for 17 months and it all started fairly well but is going down hill quick. . Ive had a rough time like most, my mum passing away, having to find a new housing association home, coming out as gay, sister having a spinal stroke and unable to walk, payday loan debt, other loan debt and wanted a fresh start for my self so took up the courage to join Payplan. I've had 2 case officers and although I appreciate there not there to be your mate or agony aunt, I get the feeling… Read Full Review

“steer clear?!!”

Written on: 06/11/2015 by TaliaCoyle71 (1 review written)

I am 2 years in to an IVA with Payplan and after 2 years my debt is 4 times what it was when I entered the agreement with Payplan 2 years ago. Why? I can't get a straight answer on that - like many others who's reviews I have read I have had numerous case officers - people seem to come and go so quickly they never become familiar with your case and as a result you get bad advise and inacutrate information. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of entering into an agreement with Payplan to… Read Full Review

“Great to start with, but downhill after that”

Written on: 04/10/2015 by 264Koch (1 review written)

I am with Payplan. The only time they contact me is when they want something and when I last left a review, was advised to contact them, which I did. The mail box was full -of complainants I shouldn't wonder. Little assistance and I now only have three and a bit payments left, contact about is is like trying to find hens' teeth! I rather think they are well established now and don't care; a bit like BT and they're pants too!… Read Full Review

Payplan were recommended to me by two separate friends, as I was paying another firm a fee to manage my debts for me an pay my creditors. To start with the service was up to standard, now a year on, it is gong from bad to worse, I noticed a change about 4 months ago, I had not missed any payments, but they are now hounding me for more money when it's is not there to give, they act worse than the people I owe money to. I shall be changing back to the company I paid a management fee to, better… Read Full Review

“Not happy.”

Written on: 13/05/2015

I took my IVA out in May 2013, like a lot of people, it took me a long time to get the courage to call someone and ask for help. At first, PayPlan were fabulous, and everything was clearly laid out. However, I'm now on my 5th/6th (I think) case manager, and I'm really disillusioned with them - especially since having my annual statement sent through. Payments to creditors seem really low for the amount I have paid overall, whereas PayPlan's dividends seem a lot higher than I thought they… Read Full Review

I too have had this same experience. I am confused as to who my case officer is. I also recently had a letter stating that I had to pay extra money into my plan, despite me having been on maternity leave for almost 12 months. I have given them my new expenditure on more than one occasion and have left messages which have not been answered on the Payplan website. I have received PPA money which has been paid into my plan. When they did a review of my payments this year, I too was disappointed to see how much had been paid to my creditors. They also stated that not as much money as been paid in as should have been. I can't work this out, given the fact that I received over 6k in PPA money. I think it's a little misleading and wish that I had gone down the bankruptcy route.

“PPI Claim”

Written on: 26/10/2014

I was in an IVA with Payplan over 2 years ago, I have been awarded PPI from CitiFinancial but have been told that Payplan will get this money minus the interest which I find totally unfair as two of the loans were before my IVA. It has been agreed I am entitled to the interest, considering this has gone on since May as I applied for the PPI myself Payplan have now received the cheque and waiting to clear into my arrangement yet when I ask they cannot give me a timescale when I will receive the… Read Full Review

“Terrible”

Written on: 09/10/2014 by Madysone112 (1 review written)

I would not recommend this company, this is just my honest opinion. I contacted this company about 2 months ago. My situation was this, I was already on a dmp with stepchange but I was struggling and stupidly took out more payday loans, I was worried to tell stepchange as it broke the terms of my dmp so applied to payplan. They made everything all sound great and that everything would be sorted, I sent in all the info about me and my debts they asked for but heard nothing back, I kept having to… Read Full Review

“Can't get a straight answer”

Written on: 03/09/2014 by EliasDickson238 (1 review written)

When I first joined Payplan I thought great all the pressure had stopped. I became able to offer a full and final settlement, that is when things went wrong. It was as if they had switched off and didn't care anymore. They wouldn't or couldn't answer any of my questions. I wanted a rough time scale but they wouldn't give an answer. All I got was process and as long as it takes. When I phone to find out where we were at things had stopped due to holidays or illness. There was no consideration as… Read Full Review

“Payplan paid the WRONG creditors!”

Written on: 10/07/2014 by eihposkyei (1 review written)

I have been with Payplan is 2010 to date I have paid out over £11,000 in early Jan 2013 I realised they have been paying out double the money to one creditor, as I kept on getting letters from one with extra added charges saying they weren't being paid. I was promised a refund by my case officer and this never materialised. I was even asked to contact the over paid creditor to try and organise a refund although this mistake was not of my doing. I'm still paying this company 4 years on,its just… Read Full Review

Just reading through reviews for Payplan and notice the most recent are pretty negative. Which I exactly how I am feeling. To start with Payplan seemed fine and of course offered me a solution to my debt problems. However as things have progressed the service I have received has gone down hill to say the least. It is pointless sending anything in the post as it get lost even when sent recorded delivery. I have has so many case officers I have lost count. I have never missed a payment but the… Read Full Review

Hello,

Firstly I apologise for the delay in responding to you. I am very sorry that it appears we haven't maintained the high standards we expect of ourselves, and that you feel we haven't given you the level of service you expect and would like to help you.

If you could contact me directly with your details (name of case office, case ID, contact information) and I will make sure it is passed over to a Senior Manager to deal with quickly.

Kind regard

This sounds very similar to my current situation, it all started sweetly but now as I near the end the tone of communication and the demand for money is very different!

I actually hate this company and wish I had taken bankruptcy 7 years ago!

“Terrible customer service”

Written on: 14/04/2014 by DevonLancaster (1 review written)

I've been on a DMP with Payplan now for 4 years owing in the region of £20k and it SHOULD have been finishing a few months from now. Instead one of my creditors has been charging massive amounts of interest and despite the fact I've paid through Payplan over £17,500 I still actually owe more like £10k. Recently I've been lent some money by a family member in order to try and get some of my debt cleared and wanted to pay off a chunk of the money owed to my biggest creditor which is the one… Read Full Review

Hi Devon,

Firstly I apologise for the slow response. If you would be able to send me some more details I will chase this up for you, it sounds like we have not maintained the high standards we expect of ourselves and which you deserve. Sadly on the issue of interest rates, we try our best to get these frozen by the creditors but we can not always achieve this in all cases.

If you could contact me directly with your details (name of case office, case ID, contact information) and I will make sure it is passed over to a Senior Manager to deal with quickly.

Thanks,
Martin

“Best decision I could have made”

Written on: 24/03/2014 by SanaiHaley (1 review written)

I have read a lot of the reviews on here and just had to stick my oar in. I have 17 payments left to make to my IVA, 16 from next week, I can honestly say, I sleep a whole lot better now than I did for the 12 months before I entered into the IVA. I have had a change of supervisor but so far so good. I am actually enjoying living without credit, if I cant afford it I cant have it, I just wish this way of life had come to me sooner then I wouldn't have gotten into the mess I did. Thanks Payplan… Read Full Review

“Payplan Looking Out For Themselves”

Written on: 08/01/2014 by 2xsmiths (1 review written)

Like a lot of people in debt, we were grateful to Payplan for taking the pressure off from our creditors chasing us. We were recommended an IVA which we started in 2008. We were told that after 48 months we would have to try to release equity in our property. If we couldn't we would have to continue to 60 months. What actually happened was that they have extended my wife's IVA to 6 years as we couldn't release the equity. I've just made my last payment, yippee!! But a mis sold ppi claim has now… Read Full Review

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and your comments.

To explain about some of your comments:
Under the terms of an IVA you have an obligation to pay back your creditors as much as possible, remembering that you will never pay back more than what you owe with the addition of statutory interest and charges which are frozen in an IVA.
In general terms, PPI is an asset of the IVA and as such must be realised into the arrangement for the benefit of your creditors.

Regarding equity, if your wife was unable to release any equity in your property, an extension of the term provides a higher return to your creditors who are expecting a release of a lump sum into the arrangement. Each IVA proposal will contain how to deal with various scenarios and must be consulted each time.

I hope that explains our position, if you require any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your assigned Case Officer or anyone in the Client Support department, who will be more than happy to answer any queries that you may have.

Kind regards,
Samuel

Thank you for taking the time to stand up for Payplan. You must remember that you also have a duty of care to your clients and not only the creditors. You are legally obliged to treat clients fairly and taking money owed to them after they've made their final payment isn't treating them fairly. How long after making a last payment do you continue to take money? If as in my case my grandmother died whilst in my IVA, will you chase for any inheritance I receive??

The money is not owed to you - it is owed to the creditors. Just because you have made your final payment does not mean you do not owe the creditors money. The answer to how long they can take PPI for is - forever. Legally any PPI money from any debt you had prior to or during the IVA belongs to your creditors not to you. And yes you will need to declare your inheritance, as it IS due to the IVA.
