We returned from a 3 night weekend stay booked through The Sun Holiday's promotion. My partner and myself had a great time, although from our first evening on site when we sat in the entertainments bar it was clear to us that it was focused around children more than two adults on a weekend break away. Its a lovely clean site though, the staff are welcoming and were very helpful and organised.
The plus points....... Fairly easy to find, first time for me visiting the Torquay area. Clean and tidy site and also a clean and tidy holiday home (2 bedroom). Very quiet location, despite not being too far away from a housing estate. Good level of entertainment and things to do for children on site and a well presented bar area for the adults.
The not so good points....... The bar is expensive for drinks being the only alcohol serving place unless you take a drive down the road. The food is also over priced for what it is, you're better off cooking in your own holiday home or grabbing a bite to eat in Torquay or where my partner and myself spent most of our time in Paignton. You do need a car because you are so far out from the main towns. I'm sure that there was a reliable enough bus service but taxi fares for later in the evening would cost the earth! It is hilly, a small oversight though for such a nicely kept site and I wouldn't dwell on it too much. The food in the main bar was hit and miss, they didn't seem to have anything in, no Southern Fried Chicken meals or Jacket spuds, so a portion of chips each is all we had for tea the first night we were there. Uncomfortable beds...... Take your own sheets, duvets, pillows, etc and use the supplied duvets as cushions under your sheets..... saves alot of backache otherwise you'll feel like you're sleeping on a hospital bed all night.
All in all, we had a great weekend away, it was our once a year weekend break away from 3 children and we made what we could of it. I'm not so sure we'll return there unless we're made an offer that's too good to refuse, mostly thats due to its location more than anything - we'd look more at staying closer to Paignton as its in our eyes the better of the 2 towns. I hope no-one else has to deal with arguing young couples at midnight in the holiday home next door like we did, all a good laugh as neither of us could understand why you'd go on holiday just to argue! If you're already booked up to go then all I can say is be prepared to drive, there aren't any real walks surrounding the site and its expensive to stay on site if you fancy something to eat and a few drinks. For us it was good value for money in the sense that we had a nice clean base to go back to every night.

Just returned from a 4 night stay with the wife and our 3yr old son.
The good points:
Nice clean caravan(booked a riviera), with good heating, good working facilities (shower, microwave, toaster,tv with built in dvd player,a seperate cd player, fridge and fridge freezer). Everything worked as it should.
Nice playground for the younger kids to play in.
3yr old son loved the evening entertainment with the parks characters and dancing time.
Staff very friendly.

What a nightmare.
Shabby caravan although stated new for 2009. Cigarette ends littered outside caravan door. Dirty utensils and dishes in caravan and no fireguard provided as standard for gas fire.
Beds small and uncomfortable, no room to swing a cat - we had a 3 bedroom caravan and there were 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 7 - God knows what it would have been like if there had been more of us.
Swimming pool area was diirty - dead flies, dirty and cracked tiles, broken lockers.
Crazy ...- Read Guest's review (306 words)

I stayed at the Parkdean Holidays, Torquay Holiday Park in June. We stayed in a Riviera and found the overal cleanliness extremely poor. We tried to use the pool- but found the facilities disgusting and my young daughter cut her foot inside the pool on jagged underwater tiles.
The Patio bar was terrible- cold microwavable food and bad service. The staff appearance was poor and I expect are a reflection on how bad the park is. The hills are a nightmare- for anyone with any slight mobility issues ...- Read Guest's review (272 words)

We stayed at Parkdean Holiday Park for a week in July and then loved it so much we come back for another week in end of aug. the 1st visit we stayed in apartment and found it clean and adequate! 2nd time was in caravan which luckily was near the top of the bank. It is located on a bank but when i booked it on phone i was made aware of it and it is mentioned on the website.
We loved it here especially the entertainment staff and is great for kids. We can't recommend this place enough and will be ...- Read Guest's review (142 words)

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this dump, Torquay Holiday Park and were vey disappointed. We stayed in the Totnes apartments which are a throwback from the 1970's decor wise and smell a nasty smell! The furniture/beds are uncomfortable, the shower tray floods in less than a minute, the basin takes 20 minutes to drain and the walls/ceilings/floors are paper thin - you can hear virtually everything in the block. The place where they serve breakfast does not have enough tables and the ...- Read Guest's review (111 words)

Just completed a four day Sun Holiday and have to totally disagree with some of the last reviews remarks. Yes the Torquay Holiday Park site is hilly but the site is very clean and the club was first class especially the childrens entertainers. The site is fine if walking is an issue just ask for a caravan near the shops or club or have an apartment instead as they are on a flat part of the site. Great site for a base 3/5- Read Guest's review (89 words)

Just come back from 4 nights at the Parkdean Caravan site at Torquay. We used the park as a base only. The site is extremely hilly (they dont advertise this!) and is dirty. The Caravan we stayed in was filthy and faulty (pilot light kept going out leaving us with no hot water, great in the shower!) Swimming pool was small and changing rooms wet & dirty. Didnt bother with the entertainment but the chavs on the park loved it. I havnt seen so many tatoos and elizabeth duke gold in my life. We went ...- Read Guest's review (160 words)

I have had a marvelous week at the torquay devon resort.
Devon itself is absolutly beautiful, You do need a car to get to the beach and into the town, The rooms were basic but were clean and had everything you needed. Parkdene staff could'nt have been more helpful and did everything they could to make our holiday memorable. I would like to say thank you.- Read omoff's review (87 words)

We did only use the park only as a base, as I was doing a course in Stoke Flemming, but we were quite impressed with the facilities at Torquay Holiday Park. We enjoyed the entertainment each night, but for our holidays we do like to closer to the sea!- Read CarolandSteve's review (128 words)

Fantastic caravan, thankfully we had central heating as it was freezing at night even in June. Caravans aren't overlooked front and back as they are on different levels, but the site has very steep hills. We felt it was too far away from anything to be without a car and the site shop was expensive. Our car broke down and we had to be towed back to the site one day but the reception staff were really helpful in recommending a local garage and on the only sunny day of the week when everyone else w ...- Read sunsh1ne's review (218 words)

Patio Bar - good value for money food. Site local to all amenities. Staff very and friendly. Caravan needs bringing up to date, not as clean as I would have expected, microwave unusable, caravans should be equipped with a small vacuum cleaner - not a ewbank in this day and age. Seating area cushions disgustingly filthy. Would visit the park again if caravans were cleaned thoroughly.- Read rodeo's review (66 words)

My husband and son went to Torquay holiday park this weekend. They said that while they liked the cleanness of the camp they wouldn't go back again as it was incredibly hilly (which is not stated in the parkdean brochure). My mother and father-in-law had to take the car everywhere as they couldn't walk up and down the hills to get to the entertainment centre. Plus points definitely were the cleanliness of the site and the caravans. Also a must for people going is the steam railway in Paignton, it ...- Read nattychambers's review (124 words)
