“junk”

Written on: 16/05/2012 by CaptRahn (1 review written)

I had to return the first one due to bad spring, the second lasted about six months. The gun never had good accuracy, very inconsistent. I know that sounds like the shooter but it's not. I even put it in a vice. I changed the scope. Now I bought a Gamo silent cat. I hope I have better luck with it… Read Full Review

Ouch. Sorry you're having so much trouble. Mine works fine, great in fact. The springs do break now and then, but if you want security you can buy an aftermarket spring of better quality. They're ~$15 where the oem Crosman spring is $5. Check the parallax on your scope, even the new one. Parallax will cause mysterious accuracy loss. Adj it buy the front lens to your shooting distance and it should be good to go

“Alright but.....”

Written on: 06/04/2012

The gun was alright a first, but eventually started to become inaccurate. it weighs about 8-8.5 pounds which is very heavy for an air-rifle. if you can live reside with a heavy gun, the gun should be decent. Invest a little more of your money and purchase a better rifle… Read Full Review

It's actually a great gun and is equal to much more expensive ones as far as power and accuracy. Try adjusting the parallax, that will cause mysterious accuracy problems, adj by turning the front lens.

First off, I'm a Wildlife Control Professional..Just picked up the G1 yesterday and already I see things leaning in my favor on a positive note..Bore sighted it, then dialed it in at 40 yards. Knock down ...Killer gun all the way around so far..I'm really impressed Crosman !! Keep up the good work… Read Full Review

This gun is amazing i bought it about a year ago and it has held its power. Ever other weekend i go to my friends house and we go hunting for squrriel, rabbit, birds, possum, raccon you name it you can shoot any type of small game with it. When you first get it it takes a while to break it in but once you do you can reload very swiftly and smoothly. It is great to use for target practice and hunting it is very accurite at long ranges say about 60 yards. The scope on this gun is extermely… Read Full Review

Excellent gun for the money($99), and very user friendly. Cheap pellets are still accurate enough to group at about 1.5" at 30 yards. I even hit a bird at 45 yards only about .5" off of where I was aiming. With more expensive pellets and a little more breaking in I expect to see even greater results… Read Full Review

Written on: 14/07/2010

The crossman G1 was my first ever air rifle, felt nice to hold, not to heavy not to light, was a real work out though when out hunting possums (as i would have to carry this beast for a good couple of hours), it was accurate enough with a grouping of 2 inches on a tripod. effective range would be around 30 meteres (90 feet) the only problem i had with it was while cocking, the lock that connects the spring cock to the barrel kept snapping meaning i couldnt get the spring to lock in (which is a… Read Full Review

It shouldn't be like that, they're normally great guns. From your description I don't understand what exactly broke, but it's a shame I couldn't have helped before you traded it in. The Gamo's are very similar guns, even interchangeable parts if I'm not mistaken. I've read that the common Crosman design is a copy of one of the Gamo's, but I can't say which is better, I buy Crosman because I prefer an all steel barrel. And some little things are different too, and obviously the stock. Gamo stocks aren't my taste, but neither is the G1 really. I bought it for the powerplant and the muzzle brake, then I modded the stock to look better. I did some mods here and there to squeeze the most power out if it and improve the looks, trigger etc., same stuff I would've done if I had a Gamo. Hopefully your next one will be better, I suggest one with a barrel shroud which works like the Gamo suppressor but better, and a nitro main spring which really quiets the gun down. Good luck..

Wow this thing sucks! The spring just completly went 10 days after the warrenty. It can shoot any thing. I'd be better off using a sling shot to shoot all the rabbits in my yard. Now I have the Gamo Big Cat 1200. It shoots Great I love. Do not buy the G1 Crosman Extreme… Read Full Review

Sorry about that, but the chinese springs do fail now and then. Usually if they break it's sooner rather than later due to a flaw. The Gamo's are the same too. Aftermarket springs are a good choice, good US or Swiss steel for $15, or another Crosman for $5. Accuracy is probably off due to the parallax on the scope, they're usually set for a further distance so they (and your Gamo's) should be adjusted by turning the front lens to your preferred distance. And all spring airguns need to have all the screws tight and hold the gun the exact same way each time you shoot. Shimming the scope to match the barrel is beneficial to most too because the barrels usually point down a bit. So shim the scope to match and that helps, but parallax and the hold are the primary problems with airguns. Too bad I or someone couldn't have helped with those problems, you could've had a nice gun.

All spring powered airguns are susceptible to broken springs regardless of mfg. One good benefit to having a Crosman is replacement springs are less than $6. I'd also change out the piston seal while I'm in there, those are $1.15.
That and a trigger job to fix the "lawyer trigger" problem and you have a very nice gun. If it has a scope you will probably need to adjust parallax and shim the scope to match the barrel. These are problems all break barrel guns have and the Gamo is no exception.

I did allot of reviews on Pellet Rifles so I did not rush out and buy the most $ one. I did research one them. Why I picked the Crosman G1 Xtreme because it is all around a great gun, It handles very nice, not to heavy, but not to light. I wanted a gun that would handle the distance and hit the target dead on and the G1 Xtreme is the gun to have! The only thing I did was the scope tha tcame with it was ok, So I updraded to a Center point 3x9x32 and I also bought a BSA laser/flaslight sight. I… Read Full Review

If you still have this problem you should contact Crosman or me at chevota at hotmail for help. They're great guns, but they're made in china so you can't expect perfection. Usually it's just something small like an adjustment that needs attention and they're great.

I knew nothing about air rifles, and even less about scopes! I saw this in a sporting goods store for about $120 so i bought it! The store calibrated it for me but it wasnt as good as i wanted so i calibrated it by myself in about 6 shots without difficulty. It was loud for the first couple of shots but quieted down and the reloading wasnt too difficult...i didnt expect it to be like a toy so it had to have some resistance. Power wise its great! easily blows through soda cans and nearly passes… Read Full Review

crosman g1 extreme is a great powerfull gun with good range. I didn't expect much from a pelet gun but it was much more than i had expected. the gun is loud for a little bit it even gave me an ear infection but that was fixed and its great to use. I nailed a bird from about 50 yrds. and was pleased. I loved the scope on it with the ajustable crosshairs and sight.
