Good Points: All-steel construction, solid proven design, excellent sights.

    Bad Points: None

General comments: The Model 629 is S&W's stainless steel version of the famous .44 magnum "Dirty Harry" revolver.

The 629 has been on the market for 25 years. It comes in a choice of barrel lengths. I prefer the 5" model for its balance and ease of carry. My 629 has fired thousands of .44 Special target loads and hundreds of full-power .44 magnum rounds. It is equipped with soft rubber Hogue grips which are excellent in taming the recoil.

The 629 is the ultimate all-purpose outdoorman's revolver. It is not as massive as the Ruger or Colt .44s, but retains enough weight to make it manageable. Everything about this revolver says "quality".

You will not find a better .44 magnum revolver. It is much easier to shoot than the newer feather-weight .44 magnums. I give this gun an A+ rating.
