Good Points: Sound and true bass extension. Width and depth of the sounstage. The look of Brazilian Rosewood. Rarity.

Bad Points: err...none......although they do need a pretty large room to breath and several thousands of pounds worth of hardware and cables. It would be an insult not to provide them with the best possible signal. Like any high hi-fi and loudspeaker, they don't take kindly to bad recordings.

General comments: The sound quality and sheer width and depth of the soundstage is beguiling. The bass response is utterly wall shaking if you want it to be, mostly when the Wife is out ! It is possible to almost see (!) the bass ripples as they flow across the listening space, if that makes sense, it will do to another 107.2 owner. I have owned them for 3 years and a pair of 107's before these and they both have the same signature 107 soundstage which can take some getting used to if you are used to 'normal' speakers. The coupled cavity 10 woofers enclosed in the cabinet produce the low frequencies which is fired upwards and this is a phenominal help when positioning them as you don't get the usual boominess associated with other speakers when positioning close to walls. Mine sit 5 feet from the back wall and 4 feet from the side wall in a 14 x 30 room. The Raymond Cooke Series of Kef's loudspeakers (107.2, 104.2, LS35A) was and still is the pinnacle of Kef Reference loudspeaker design. All of the Raymond Cooke Reference Series have Gold Plaques with a quote by Raymond. Mine says : This loudspeaker is truly worthy of the title "Flagship" Even today a loudspeaker which can reproduce the full audio band from 20Hz to 20KHz to within a tolerance of +/_2db is something special. Always at the pinnacle of loudspeaker innovation, Kef has embodied within this product a wealth of technology. Coupled Cavity bass loading places maximum power handling and control where musical demands are greatest. Conjugate load matching ensures the best performance from any partnering amplifier. Computer Controlled Matching of drivers and systems ensures accuracy of stereo image. KUBE bass equalisation allows extension to 20Hz in an unbelievably small enclosure. Moulded Mid/HF head assembly provides time allignment and anti-diffraction properties. Many have copied aspects of this design but this is the original. Kef Audio (UK) Ltd bring you this Special Edition as confirmation that the greatest designs in audio are ageless. We hope that you enjoy listening to one of the World's greatest products. Signed, Raymond Cooke Founder and Life President of KEF Thankyou for reading my review, Carl Westfield.
