The Post Office credit card is a nightmare! Stay away. It's incredible how you never receive a statement but always receive Late payment letters!! I am so glad I have got rid of this as this could affect my credit rating. Never again! (read more)

Website says this is an instant decision. I have a good credit report and it was not instant. I've now received a letter asking me to post certified copies of documentation! I view that as a major inconvenience and totally un-necessary. So much so that i've binned it and gone for a halifax clarity card instead! (read more)

As many of the reviews for PO Credit Card I agree that the customer service is terrible. A common thread in reviews is that the card is good value when used overseas however look again and see how many people say that they get extra charges. Now my gripe about PO generating income. If you enter the website you will find a page giving your current status and spending for the month. This page always reads zero in for your outstanding balance and minimum payment. In fact you may have payments... (read more)

I phoned the credit card various times just for change of address. They are just plain rude. The guy that picked the phone just kept typing and ignored me the whole time. I could tell he could hear me as he asked me for name before going quiet and kept mumbling. I cut it off and phoned again. This time thankfully the lady was responsive but very slow. Put me on hold three times after hearing my query, post code and house number so it got cut off after eight minutes before I even reached the... (read more)

I give this card one star as imhad no issues initially opening the account but that's where the positives end. Customer service is highly primitive and unhelpful. Mostly by post with a very weak website. The real problems started when I tried to change my address and they ultimately decided it was easier to cancel my card than act on my (repeat) instruction to change my home address. I would recommend avoiding this card like the plague as you don't when or where you'll be when they cancel... (read more)

Their credit card online page is useless. Cannot make payment over the phone, cannot make payment through their website. I am unable to setup a direct debit over the phone, they still do it the traditional way by posting a form to fill out for direct debit. Even though they do not charge a fee when using it abroad, their level of customer service is appalling. I would not recommend it to anyone (read more)

I applied for this card for use abroad due to it having no additional fees.
What a hassle. Proof of ID documents were requested and copies duly sent, signed by my local Post Office. Then a week later returned to me saying they were incorrect as the person who had checked them had not Printed their name.....it doesn't stipulate this though! The documents were then re-sent...correct this time...and two weeks later still no decision! It may be a good card, but make sure you leave plenty of time... (read more)

Customer service absolutely shocking. No manner's at all, if there's any problem they aren't interested and don't want to help you sort it out. If you pay at the Post Office in cash for your amount due a day before it take's five working days to reach the Bank of Ireland. You therefore get charged a late payment. You are not allowed to make a payment over the phone UNLESS you are already in arrears. This all happened because I had a nightmare trying to set a direct debit up. When I tried to... (read more)

Never ask for duplicate statement from them, they will charge you £5 for that 2 pieces of A4 photo copy like prints. So..if you somehow don`t get your statement like me and get charged £12 for late payment fee and ask for statement..that`s £17. Stay well clear, very annoying customer service. For that £5 this card just met the mr. shredder. (read more)

I have been using this card since 2006. As someone who travels frequently, I have saved hundreds of pounds thanks to the commission-free exchange rate provided. When overseas this is basically a 3% discount compared to nearly all other cards (or holiday money). Customer services have always been good. I would have to concede that the online facility is rather limited, but have never had any problems paying online from my bank's website. Another plus is the full 3 week payment window... (read more)

I got the Post Office Platinum Credit Card last year to go on holiday. This is the real benefit of the card as they do not charge transaction and conversion fees for foreign purchases. I can not fault the card on this as it a bit cheaper than my other credit cards and much cheaper than using my Visa Debit card.
However the administration behind the card is pretty archaic. There is virtually no online management available, you can just basically view previous statements. You can not pay over... (read more)

I applied for the Post Office Platinum MasterCard three months ago to take advantage of the introductory three months 0% APR on purchases.
The card was easy to apply for, through the Post Office website. Although braded as the Post Office the card is provided by Bank of Ireland UK, which is a company I haven't dealt with before. After dealing with some of the other UK financial institutions I have found Bank of Ireland to be somewhat lacking.
My experience of speaking to the Customer... (read more)

Would not recommend this card to anyone.
Ridiculous amounts of red tape when trying to change address to reclaim the money on my card.
I sent my documents twice, speaking to three members of staff 5 times over a period of 4 days with differing reasons as to why they had not accepted my change of address. Finally after asking to speak to a supervisor, my documents were miraculously acceptable.
Poor organisation, inconsistent service and very disappointing for the post office.
Avoid this at... (read more)

I would not recommend the post office credit card because the service is very poor. You are not able to make payments over the phone and they are closed when you need to contact them. They are not open at weekends. It is the most inconvenient credit card! They make mistakes also. My account was supposed to be closed and I was given the wrong information. I ended up being fined because of their mistake! Rubbish service! Am only leaving one star because I can't leave none! (read more)

I have just applied for Post Office platinum credit card, and have been asked to provide certified copies of my driving license, pay slip, a utility bill and original bank statements. I bank online, so would only be able to provide printouts, and have just been told that this would be rejected even if my bank confirmed that I bank online. The only option would have been to request original bank statements at a cost of £5 each, which I was unwilling to do - the whole point of changing cards... (read more)

0 percent commission free on transactions abroad, what can I say?! Especially when the post office has one of the best exchange rates as it is. Just pay the exchange rate at the time, and no other charges... that's why I got the Post Office Platinum Credit card.
I don't need it for credit. That is the important part! (read more)

I was attracted to this card because of 9 months at 0% and a recommendation in a Sunday paper. The card is backed the Bank of Ireland (BOI).
The application process was dreadful and bizarre. They wanted me to send ORIGINALS of my passport, my driving licence, my council tax demand, my latest bank statement, my latest pay statement and a recent utility bill. I phoned to say I wasn't willing to do that - put such important documents in the post to them with no guarantee that they would... (read more)
