“Good for travel but poor interest rates”

I use mine for travel abroad and internet purchases abroad because of they do not charge extra for foreign currency transactions. Particularly good is the ability to buy foreign currency on the card at Post Offices at the standard rate of interest. The bad news is that they have hiked my interest rate from 16.9% to 19.9% over the past 15 months for no apparent reason! This card is good value if you use it abroad but is a nightmare to manage. When I came back from my trip abroad I wanted to reconcile the till receipts against the credit card records but this turned out to be enormously time consuming. Firstly, the website does not even show the amount of the transaction in the original currency (e.g. Euros) making it very difficult to match up transactions. “Poor service - don't get it!”

AVOID!!! The application process is simple, and the initial offer is attractive. However when you have a query or need assistance you will struggle to get assistance for anyone and will be passed from one person to another, all of which will be via another 0800 number and 30 minutes of time on the phone. “No fees abroad - but 0845 calls quickly adds up ”

I applied for Post Office credit card through Topcashback in the hope that I would receive £40 as a cashback which was promised 100% but after getting the credit card and being with it for four months I still have not been given the cashback simply because this post office company does not want to. As many of the reviews for PO Credit Card I agree that the customer service is terrible. A common thread in reviews is that the card is good value when used overseas however look again and see how many people say that they get extra charges. Now my gripe about PO generating income. If you enter the website you will find a page giving your current status and spending for the month. This page always reads zero in for your outstanding balance and minimum payment. “Worst customer service”

I phoned the credit card various times just for change of address. They are just plain rude. The guy that picked the phone just kept typing and ignored me the whole time. I could tell he could hear me as he asked me for name before going quiet and kept mumbling. I cut it off and phoned again. This time thankfully the lady was responsive but very slow. “Appalling service”

I give this card one star as imhad no issues initially opening the account but that's where the positives end. Customer service is highly primitive and unhelpful. Mostly by post with a very weak website. The real problems started when I tried to change my address and they ultimately decided it was easier to cancel my card than act on my (repeat) instruction to change my home address. Their credit card online page is useless. Cannot make payment over the phone, cannot make payment through their website. I am unable to setup a direct debit over the phone, they still do it the traditional way by posting a form to fill out for direct debit. i got confirmation on feb 2012 money transferred this now june and even had letters off post office to say they are investigating and yet guess what still waiting even by there own rules this is a joke ,and never once have they even phoned or emailed to sort ,all by post so thats probably lost aswell and i will have to pay the interest on my card even with proof they have said its transferred .just pointless using this service cough cough… Read Full Review

I applied for this card for use abroad due to it having no additional fees.
What a hassle. Proof of ID documents were requested and copies duly sent, signed by my local Post Office. Then a week later returned to me saying they were incorrect as the person who had checked them had not Printed their name.....it doesn't stipulate this though! Customer service absolutely shocking. No manner's at all, if there's any problem they aren't interested and don't want to help you sort it out. If you pay at the Post Office in cash for your amount due a day before it take's five working days to reach the Bank of Ireland. You therefore get charged a late payment. I have had exactly the same problem - tried to set up a direct debit 3 times and they repeatedly tell me that the bank has declined the payment - its all set up - I can see it on mty internet account. Late payment charged!

Never ask for duplicate statement from them, they will charge you £5 for that 2 pieces of A4 photo copy like prints. So..if you somehow don`t get your statement like me and get charged £12 for late payment fee and ask for statement..that`s £17. Stay well clear, very annoying customer service. I have been using this card since 2006. As someone who travels frequently, I have saved hundreds of pounds thanks to the commission-free exchange rate provided. When overseas this is basically a 3% discount compared to nearly all other cards (or holiday money). Customer services have always been good. I would have to concede that the online facility is rather limited, but have never had any problems paying online from my bank's website. “I got the Post Office Platinum Credit Card last year...”

I got the Post Office Platinum Credit Card last year to go on holiday. This is the real benefit of the card as they do not charge transaction and conversion fees for foreign purchases. I can not fault the card on this as it a bit cheaper than my other credit cards and much cheaper than using my Visa Debit card.
