“Clown Loach Fish grow up to 12 Inches in length, but...”

★★★★★

written by Mystix212 on 16/01/2007

Clown Loach Fish grow up to 12 Inches in length, but it takes an average of 10 years to get there. They live for up to 50 years however. Once they hit 6 inches, after a few years they will slow down their growing process. They tend to lose their colour as they get older, for example - lighter black bars, pale yellow body and pale orange fins. As they hit 7 - 8 inches they will get higher and become more ugly in the face.

If you have a snail problem in your tank, buy some Clown Loaches and just sit back. No need to kill them manually. Although, if a snail is too big they will try to attack it but just make the snail curl up into its shell.

Having this fish is great fun, and many years of enjoyment will come from them.

They hit maturity at the age of approximately 9 - 11 years of age, so to breed in captivity is almost impossible for the average fish keeper. They lay eggs, and they must be removed or the parents will eat them. There is no difference between male and female, except at breeding time.

It should be noted that Clown Loach's will prey on smaller fish at times. They will eat your neon tetras. I went from 20 neons to only 7. I visually watched them prey on these smaller fish. They make a loud clicking noise when eating live fish.

Well, I take my time writing reviews, when some people just do reviews under 100 words. 500 is probably a decent one, but the content is more important.
