A lot of reviewers are complaining about Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld battery life, but I wonder what they are comparing it too. Do you really expect a handheld to be able to hoover a whole car, or is that perhaps a job better suited to a mains powered device? Surely, this is for using for small areas that need a quick clean - in my case under the table once the monkeys have been fed, or when I have walked through the house in the morning dropping dried mud off my running shoes. For those jobs, this works perfectly. And wall mounting inside a cupboard makes it discrete and accessible. So, fit for purpose....

I bought the Dyson Root several years ago and it had always worked great. I had trouble with the unit and upon calling Dyson support, all I had to have was the serial number and after trouble shooting for only a few minutes and not finding a solution, they sent me a whole new unit! No harrassing paperwork, did not have to send the old one back or anything!!! Dyson's support team and willingness to back up their products with such simplicity is a nice relief compared to Bissell and Hoover or a ...

The Dyson DC16 Root is a total waste of time. Both myself and father-in-law bought one at the same time. Neither of them worked whilst under the 28 day warranties, we waited several months for Dyson to sort out faulty chargers etc. Wish I had returned now under the sale of goods act - as it is certainly not fit for purpose. Save your money and purchase something that will plug into your lighter socket, it will do a better job. It is a total joke

I won't be buying Dyson again

What a really good product the Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld is, Suction is really good & its a sturdy product, perfect for what i want in a hand held.....but I am experiencing a battery problem with my one.
i cannot use it now because the battery now lasts for around five or six seconds & yes its out of warranty, i do not intend buying an expensive new battery.

Lightweight, effective, great at suction, clear easy to clean area where rubbish goes. Brilliant for stairs!!! great for cars too, far more power and suction than most car vacs have. when using the long nozzle attachment its very directional suction will pull in whatever you're aiming it at - especially large spiders! Sturdy strong build.

A great useful item to have in addition to a regular vacuum cleaner, useful to pull out and do any cobwebs etc as they appear instead of using a feather du ...

The Not many extras available for bike is well worth it if you need it for quick 5 minute jobs! Can not clean an entire car in one power charge though. Great suction, style and ease of use. Worlds worst battery life. Sent a complaint to dyson today assuming perhaps my battery was faulty, however this site is full of the exact same complaint. 5- 6 minutes of use in one battery.

My Dyson DC16 Root 6 never loses suction power as is shuts down as soon as the battery sends a signal that it's getting weak. There isn't enough time to vacuum both the front and back floors of my car. A car cord would really make this vacuum useful. For spills in the house it seems to be fine as most small ones can be cleaned up in a minute or two.

I wish I had put my money on a full size new Dyson which I have always had since I used one at least 10 years ago. Going out this week to buy a new one and will use my older one upstairs to save me carrying it up and down. I find that no other cleaner is as good as Dyson that is why I am so disappointed with the hand held one.

I would forget the Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld vacuum cleaner and go for something else, which though it might lack the flashy appearance, will in all probability be cheaper, more efficient and will fit neatly and discreetly near your electrical socket. It is very easy to accidentally switch the cleaner on when picking it up due to the location of the on off switch on the handle. Unfortunately, the 'bizarre' design seems to have been the main focus of this vacuum cleaner when it should ha ...

The DC 16 should be ideal for the car and small jobs in the house but the battery life is just too short and really lets this product down. This mini Dyson would be great but until Dyson make a longer lasting battery the product is on the verge of been useless.

cannot even clean inside of car in one go, only good for small spills indoors. Do not even attempt to do the stairs you will have to charge battery for 3 hours after only 5 steps.

Is pretty good all round, as said can be very tricky removing the battery and the battery life is too short.
Would be good if there was an adapter available to plug into the mains for use on stairs, quick spills when battery is flat etc. Overall though is not a bad product, just a bit expensive for what you get - but you pay for the name I suppose.

Very powerfull and has come in very handy, just woundering if you could buy an extra battery, so always have one fully charged that way you could extend the time to 12 mins (one battery lasts for 6 mins, not enough really to clean a car).

Found the Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld very expensive for the time to use ratio. It needs a longer battery life 5 to 6 minute operation with a three hour charge cycle is not what I expected.

Bought the Animal version (£40 or so premium) of the DC16 as we have a couple of cats. It's a pretty expensive vacuum cleaner (not a Hoover, that's another brand!), but it does a VERY good job for a battery powered unit. The powered 'Animal' head with rotating brush is very handy for removing pet hair from furniture and is a credible alternative to a mains powered machine for small clean-ups.
The only downside is the rather short 6 mins of battery life from the fully charged battery, alth ...

The Dyson DC 16 hand held hoover is a gem. It might be a bit expensive and slightly larger than most other hand-held vacuum cleaners, however, as you can expect with any Dyson product, it is superbly engineered and very effective at what it does. Its engine is powerful and will suck anything it attacks, while the ergonomics mean that you can dispose the rubbish accumulated with the single click of a button. You don't even need to get your hands dirty! It comes with a charger and a handy wall ...

A review of Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld
This is useful to just have around the house for quick bits of cleaning where formerly you might have used a dustpan and brush, also it's ideal for car cleaning.
