“Terrible company, do not use”

What a horrible company. We were broken into on holiday, followed the correct procedure, contacted the police immediately, gave a statement, got a crime report, contacted Virgin while there. Then got on with our holiday. Had all sorts stolen, engagement ring and Pandora bracelet being the most sentimental. Once back home they were impossible to deal with. I was always confident that I am covered for all incidents that may arise, luckily not having to test it! “Verging on the ridiculous”

On a recent holiday to Australia we hired a car and moved between hotels and apartments thinking we were fully covered by our Virgin Money Annual Travel Insurance,how wrong could we be!! The car was broken into through the back passenger window and access was made to the boot via the fold down back seat. A rucksack with our Passports,an IPad ,Binocular and several other items was stolen. I must say usually getting money out of travel insurance companies is a nightmare, but with Virgin Money i was pleasantly surprised. My Wife and I were stranded due to bad weather returning from Canada over Christmas 2015 with Aer Lingus ( DO NOT FLY AER LINGUS long haul they are atrocious). First of all thay take your money at a reasonable price. Then the fun starts. Unfortunately my wife's bag was stolen while on holiday in Spain which had our money camara and camcorder inside so we followed policy Down to a tee including reporting the theft to the local police within 24 hours. “Defeats the Whole Purpose of Travel Insurance”

Following a flight cancellation for the final leg of a trip from Orlando to London we were delayed by over 24 hours. It was 28 hours in total. We naturally expected Virgin to deal with our claim in sensitive and efficient matter. Hah! As I've seen on earlier comments on Mumsnet they do not even consider a claim until you've jumped through many hoops and provided endless amounts of information for a £40 a person claim. “They take your money then ask you to prove you owned it”

Basic short of the long is that unless you get them to accept the fact that you may not have the receipt for something due to it being a gift or lost at time of purchasing your insurance you are considered a liar. Still fighting with them on paying out on a gift and cannot get any confirmation from the gift giver since they are now deceased. My wife and I took Virgin Travel (Medical) Insurance to cover an extended trip to the USA. My wife fell very ill from a stomach infection. Because the infection and bacteria causing it was difficult to locate she required several visits to Emergency Medical Clinics and finally a speciality doctor. Very bad experience. I had my bags stolen and they dont want to give me the money back for it ,finding silly explanations that it was left unattended after 10pm when we left a car for 5 min and it was maybe 50meters far from us. We have nearly same issue. We are in same position. Already 6 months have passed. But we cannot come to solution. Just a headache. Dont take virgin travel insurance...

“Useless”

Took out Virgin winter-sports insurance. Had an accident on the second day with torn knee ligaments the result. Could not snowboard for the rest of the holiday and on return to the UK submitted all necessary paperwork: doctor's bills, medication receipts, X-Rays all that they asked for, including the receipts for my ski-pass, etc. 

Have just received email to say they will not pay anything at all. From my original description of the accident it was clear that there was no third party
