I will never use this company again for purchasing travel insurance. Recently bought a policy online for a single family trip to Tenerife. Purchased the policy on the basis of cost and the excess, which was advertised as being "max £100". Had to cancel the holiday due to my husband having an operation for a blood clot in his leg and when the cheque arrived for settlement of the claim, they had deducted £100 excess per person. Daughter had stolen/lost her specially insured iphone in Cambodia. Virgin won't pay up until all ORIGINAL documents are given to it, that is: signed claim form, flight documents to show she is travelling, police report etc etc. No copies, no scans, originals only So basically you have to do it on your return, then they take around 5 working days to review, and another 5 working days to bother sending a cheque... Would not pay out on flight delay even though the BA flight delayed was on the news, all docs proving travel supplied, including new flight boarding passes and BA letters apologising for the delay. “Top marks to Virgin Money Travel Insurance”

My 93 year old Mother-in-law was admitted to hospital with pneumonia 2 weeks prior to a cruise we had booked in November 12.Unfortunately due to her serious condition the holiday had to be cancelled. From my own experience Virgin Travel Insurance handled the claim quickly - within 4 weeks of me completing the documentation and submitting it. “Incompetent No Empathy”

My Daughter suffered an Ectopic pregnancy just before our booked Holiday abroad. It took several trips back and fore to the Hospital before she was told to stay in the County as she had a suspected Ectopic pregnancy. It ended up her being rushed into Hospital and a life saving operation. if you are thinking of travel insurance dont book with virgin , four weeks to look at a claim . my mother takin into hospital the night before of our holiday with abadly infected leg ,possible amputaion, so had to cancel ,filled out the forms and sent them in then to be told up to four weeks to look at the claim ,them a possible 8 till 10 weeks to finaisle the claim so phoned constantly so they said they would push it forward which they did not only to drag there feet and ask for more… Read Full Review

I agree we are still waiting for our £1500 three months after my daughter caught chicken pops on holiday and we had to extend our stay. Do Not Use Virgin!

“Avoid this company”

We took out the top of the range black cover. Thought it was the best we could get. Went florida on holiday and had our vehicle broken in to. Mainly electronics stolen and some money. Rang virgin and they told us to contact them on our return. Sent them receipts for all losses. We were involved in a car accident in France. Vehicle was repatriated to the UK my Direct Line (great service). We also had a gold family policy with Virgin. “Awful service - avoid!?”

Made a valid medical cancellation claim - took three months to process and then declined. Complained and copied complaint to Financial Ombudsman Service and they then reconsidered claim and realised they had not asked doctor for information on my claim. Once they had this and 5 months later they sent a cheque in settlement. They seem understaffed and appear to reject claims in the hope that consumers give up!!!? I took out a single policy for the time that covered my trip in 2012, I've just had a letter through to detail this years cover, which I didn't want, don't need and definitely didn't ask for. They said that they would contact me with a price on renewal but they didn't they just sucked money via my the direct debit. They refused to cancel the policy. Then they said that they would renew but leave me to say when I wanted the policy to start so that I did not waste money. Again they lied to me and interested a start date without my authority. went on holiday to spain 2nd day i had my personal belongings stolen i had silver cover both me and my wife got separate covers phoned virgin from spain was shocked when they said they would not do anything and they wriggled out of it which is what they do a lot of i thought id got professional travel insurance how wrong was i i will never ever have virgin travel insurance again and would strongly advise any one else to go else where for their travel insurance trust me… Read Full Review

Found their customer service awful. No interest in helping us. Very slow in dealing with our claim and finding the smallest of loopholes to reject the claim. Wish I had seen these bad reviews before making the mistake of buying this annual policy. Virgin would not pay out when I missed a trip due to illness. The attitude of the staff was absolutely disgraceful, and they never sent me the paperwork that I specifically requested. When I emailed customer relations, my concerns were completely ignored.
