I would like to warn those who wish to work for Tucan Travel. Stay away and stay at home, my advise!!! "Shoddy operators" isn't a good enough phrase to describe them. Their policies, pay and staff are totally bananas. The wages they pay, that's if you are lucky to get it all, mostly attract junkies and hippies, all previously either criminals or losers who were given second chance to reform their lives. You pay your relocation fees and support yourself for a month before you get a chance to withdraw half of your daily wages in cash, that is $12.50 and second half will be paid after completion of 50 weeks employment, considering that's if you are lucky to last that long. And if you think that $12.50 will go a long way in South America, think again, a bottle of water costs $3 in a local supermarket and you'll need 2 of those every day.
And their staff isn't very happy to see new employees either. You fly half way round the world and you are greeted by a drunken junkie high on drugs who turns out be a Tour Driver. Then they treat you like scam from day one and will try to find any way to get your butt kicked out. I've just had a very unpleasant experience with them and when I got back home and complained, I was simply insulted in return. In days like these I don't see tour operators like them to last for much longer......
