“much improved on older models”

★★★★☆

written by on 11/03/2014

We have had 2 of these hot tubs. The first one was no end of hassle as the heater/pump units kept breaking. Having said that Bestway were happy to keep sending us replacements. We bought an updated 'VEGAS' version in 2013 which is far better. We have had no heater/pump issues, the fiddly zip cover has been changed to an adjustable push lock affair which is far easier and I think they have done a good job of addressing the faults on previous models. These hot tubs are not a lot of money so are good value for what they are. However dont expect a pulsating massage as it is just an air blower that makes the water bubble. It's a good way of seeing if you would use a hot tub frequently enough to justify investing in a proper one which is what we are now going to do. One word of warning...... there is no insulation on these tubs so its the air in the lid and sides that is used to keep any heat in so they can be quite pricey to keep re heating to the full running temperature.

Very great tub. I like it much. It was not easy to build up, but after I build it up, it was very great. The functions were great, and work very well. The summer is now over and I put it into my garage. I will be happy if I can build it up again next year.

“Nice Spa”

★★★★☆

written by patrickpreston on 21/08/2013

Had it almost a year now and never had a problem, used in the middle of winter as well and it was just amazing, you can't expect too much as it is quite cheap compared to other brands, but it does work and makes you feel relaxed.

“Early Days so far but top marks for after care”

In our haist to to get our hot tub up we screwed the filter on the wrong outlet. This should have been a case of unscrewing and correcting but sadly this was not to be. We emialed after care asking how much a spare filter and outlet would be and they sent it out free of charge. Amazed so far!

“Premium Lay Z Spa 2012”

★★★★☆

written by on 09/11/2012

I've just bought myself the new premium lay z spa which is the cheaper model, and it is much better than I expected. Fairly quick and easy to set up, within 24 hours we had it filled, warm and working. The only downside is the unreliable weather and you have to be careful not to let the water freeze in it during Winter, but we have put ours in a gazebo which works a treat. Looking forward to spending our Friday night in the tub with a glass of red!

written by on 19/06/2012

I bought one of these spa's three years ago and it was excellent until the heater packed in working. After searching for a replacement it seems everyone was having the same problem. If you sort this heater problem out and offer a reasonable repair service i would purchase again without any problem. You have a great value for money product i would buy again just sort the heater problem out. A quality product that maybe is not designed for the kind of use it was subjected to under my ownership (Used Daily in all weathers) (Gazzebo protection over & around the unit raised on decking). But during its two year use it was a excellent product that delivered what it ewas suposed to do until the heater failed. The Customer Service was excellent when the tube seam split(replaced within two weeks)in the 12 month purchase period. Mr Harrison UK

“Hi, I bought my laz-y-spa last summer after buying...”

★★★★☆

written by on 11/04/2011

Hi, I bought my laz-y-spa last summer after buying another type of portable spa for my villa in Spain which I've used for the past 2 years. I missed it so much when I got home to the UK that I bought a laz-y-spa. I love it and so do all the visitors who come round to use it! I got my laz-y-spa out of the box 2 days ago and it went up like a dream after it's winter break. It is all working perfectly. My only criticism is the zipped cover which doesn't work. I use another cover but surprise, surprise Bestway have now bought out a new one, after obviously realising that the zipped one "isn't fit for purpose" but want to sting us for near on £80 for it (my only criticism). It is like our cover in Spain which works perfectly. FROM: Annie in Romsey. PS. To the person who enquired - the spa does cut out after 24 hrs and it says so in the instructions and that is why we empty it before we go to Spain and do the same in Spain when we come back to the UK.

WE were given our lazy spa second hand 3 years ago. Before coming to us it was left outside in all weathers. Amazingly it still worked and has given us loads of fun. Even had a spa in the snow!

We bought ours in the summer of 2009, and have certainly had our use from it. We have friends come round in the summer and they think its great fun. As someone else said, its only£300, so its a bit unfair to expect a Gucci spa when youve been shopping in Primani. Cant wait for the summer !! Party party !!

“We bought a lay z spa about 5 weeks agos, really easy...”

★★★★☆

written by Peppie on 29/07/2010

We bought a lay z spa about 5 weeks agos, really easy to put up (well my husband thought so), didn't take long to fill (we were using 2 hose pips only took about 30 minutes), and that night we were in it (only 29 degrees a bit chilly), and I haven't been out of it since.

I love my spa, and so does my neighbour, especially late in the evening around 10pm to 11pm it is lovely. We usually turn it on around 3.30pm and it is at 39 degrees by about 7pm (not long at all). During the day the temp only drops to between 30/32 degrees.

I can't wait to use it in the winter and I would be interest in frenzid's experience, did you do anything special - instructions say don't leave out below 4 Degrees.

Only one little problem and that is the zip, but it does seem to be getting better with use, it is especially difficult where the joins are any suggestions? At first the lid was over inflated but it is still reasonably difficult to do up.

Love this product best £300 I ever spent, and would highly recommend it.

Tip for the zip working a little smoother.........get a little almond oil on a piece of tissue and rub all around the zip with it, that helps. We have had ours for a month and the cover does seem to get looser, also make sure the inflatable bit in the middle isn't inflated too much.

written by frenzid on 21/06/2010

I've just read most of the reviews so far posted and shocked to hear of all the problems people have been experiencing. I got my spa on 20th July 2009 and it has been great. I kept it running over winter and enjoyed the experience of sitting in a warm tub with the snow falling on me. Sadly, on 20th June 2010, the pump failed!! I emailed Amazon with full details of the problem and, within the hour, Bestway called back with information on what the procedure is for obtaining a new pump under the guarantee. So far very impressive! I'm hoping the new pump will arrive within 48 hours, as promised. Fortunate for me that the fault occured during the guarantee period.l

I have bought 2 lay-z-spas (one round and one oval) from ebay very cheap. I knew the heaters were'nt working in the pump so I simply bought a 3kw swimming pool heater and connected it in-line, it works a treat (even better that the internal heater)!

I would like to buy all your faulty lay z spa pumps. Anyone wanting to get rid of them for some cash, I will be happy to take it off your hands. I am in the London Are and have my own car. Willing to pick it up.

“Just put just put up our spa this weekend and found it...”

★★★★☆

written by on 29/05/2010

Just put just put up our spa this weekend and found it fairly easy and quick and the video was a great advantage. Took about an hour to fill we heated it overnight and come the morning it was luke warm and up to 104f (the highest temp) by mid afternoon. When hot it is lovely, just like a warm bath. Have used it twice already! Very impressed so far, but we are wary of other reviews regards the pump so are keeping it covered in the rain to keep moisture from the pump.
Were worried about noise of the pump in other reviews but this is only when running the jets, not when heating/filtering.

Overall very happy with our purchse and great fun for the money.

“This is now our second year with the Lay z spa series...”

★★★★☆

written by monalisa01 on 24/05/2010

This is now our second year with the Lay z spa series 2 and myself and my family have had great fun in this hottub! Yes, the pump did need to be replaced last year, but Bestway was very helpful. And yes, we did have to send off the lid of the pump to prove it was faulty, but we didn't mind!
Touch wood, we have had a brill time already, but the the best way to look after your pump is to cover it with a plastic bag, so no water will get into it!
We have also found out that it will turn itself off after 24 hours of not using it.
Also to take out the clorine tablet just before you turn it on, so the water is not so strong when you get in! Get it running for 10 mins before you jump in!
This is a good cheap hottub, but does need to be looked after!
Just use and abuse!! xx

“I thought the Lay-Z-Spa was a great idea and was so...”

★★★★☆

written by on 29/04/2010

I thought the Lay-Z-Spa was a great idea and was so excited when I first got it working. We bought the round one as it would fit our terrace perfectly! It was fine for a couple of weeks and then our pump started to get condensation in the display and not work like before. We went back to Homebase where we had bought it and they advised us to call the Bestway Aftersales support team as our spa was in warranty having only bought it about 2 weeks before - which we did - and they were really great. We had to provide proof of purchase etc but it was simple and they delt with our enquiry really quickly. We've since had a replcaement sent out and everything is working as it should, we are so glad we didn't opt for a refund now. I would still reccommend this to freinds - it would stop them coming over to use ours!!!

all I would say is that if you do have problem - go to Bestway Aftersales Support as they are really helpful!

I found this review very helpful because... there are lots of conflicting statements about the lay z spa. It is now the beginning of May. I want to make the most of the summer with a spa in the garden. I don't want a disappointed family until July. The review has made me decide to buy a spa and now look forward to a trouble free experience

I bought the Lay-Z Spa last December and have had absolutely no problems with it to date. Having read the other reviews since purchase I was concerned so I called Bestway support for advice. They were really helpful with my enquiry and have put my mind at rest. The lay-z spa is still one of my top purchases and am looking forward to making the most of it this summer!

written by thealman on 28/02/2010

We bought the new 2010 lay-z-spa in January from hot tubs 2 buy. It apears that the concerns of the other reviews have been addressed with this model. There seams to be a number of changes to the pump and liner and looks very different. We have used it without fault and come up to temperature quickly and bubbles work very well. The family absolutely love it. There is no way we could of afforded a full size hot tub so this is a great alternative.

written by Hamishbyrne on 25/05/2009

I bought a Bestway Lay-Z-Spa Hot Tub Spa in spring 2008 and I have used it constantly ever since. if the pump has been switched off for a while then it is sometimes hesitant to start, but persevere and it will come on, once on it will run no problem for as long as you want it to. All those people who have given up at the first sign of trouble, hard luck you just blew 400 quid!!

Written on: 07/09/2009

I've had my crappy spa since May '09 and been able to use it 4 times, I've spent countless hours on the phone to the customer helpline and have had one replacement pump so far, that worked once. I now need another pump and a new tub as the one I have is now warped. I have left several emails for Customer Services (as they rarely answer their phone), however I will probably have to wait another 3 months for them to get the relevant parts back in stock.
<br/>You should count yourself lucky that you have one of the new spas that actually work, rather than slating everyone else.

“If you want to have a spa/jacuzzi and can't run to...”

★★★★★

written by snowleopard on 17/08/2008

If you want to have a spa/jacuzzi and can't run to £2000 or more then the Bestway Spa is a cheap fun and effective piece of kit. It's easy to use, simple to set up and put away for winter. As with all garden pool equipment you need to maintain the water to a good standard. This can be tricky but you get used to what to do and the quantities of chemicals to be used etc.
The pumps appear to be very prone to early failure, however this could be partly due to water ingress beneath the control panel, so we protect ours during wet weather and spa use.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely yes!

Hi, I have a bucket which is just the right size, and I place it upside-down over the pump, which in turn covers the control panel. It keeps all rain, water spill off the panel thus preventing water ingress under the membrane.

This is a 2nd season installation. I have a large air pocket trapped under the bottom of the pool. This is frustrating when sitting in the water. I have tried emptying it again (water costs), followed the instructions in blowing it up but to no avail. It isn't an air pocket from underneath but between the outer sleeve and the inner pool lining. What can I do?
