I don't write reviews but rescuemycar deserve a mention for the super price and service they offer. I couldnt get my car to start earlier this week so had to call them out as I needed to be in work before 10am for an appraisal, tmi, sorry. I called them up and the lovely recovery guy was so polite and efficient at his job that he had me on my way within about 45 mins, this is from me making the initial call. I changed from a "big brand" breakdown provider last year and was a little apprehensive not having used these guys before. Their prices are excellent (around half what I paid the AA) and I made a claim for an engine fault last week, delighted to say the lady in the call centre that handled the call and the prompt arrival by the recovery truck driver were brilliant. I have just encountered the worst customer service ever, my car broke down while travelling on the motorway luckily I managed to drive to safe area before calling rescue my car, I was told they would send someone out to check what was wrong and if it wasn't fixable they would get me to my destination I paid my excess after much debate with the so called advisor who kept going off the phone to check with his manager what to say. In these circumstances where the policy has been purchased, we require the £40.00 excess payment to be taken before we can offer assistance from one of our recovery agents. We always aim to have our agents on scene within 40 to 60 minutes I apologise that this was not the case with your breakdown. In regards to recovering the vehicle we look to find the most appropriate option depending
on your circumstances.

“Superb Service and Great Value For Money”

I am writing this review to prevent anyone else wasting their money on this company. After a terrible experience I have now joined the AA. When you have broken down you feel very vulnerable, and the last thing you need is to be asked LOADS of questions,ADR to pay extra and be issued with any warnings about how you will NOT BE ELIGIBLE for further cover unless you have paid a garage to check out your car and can PRPVE their is no fault. The payment that you’re referring to is an excess payment which is applicable on some of our policies, predominantly the lower premium policies we offer. In these circumstances where the policy has been purchased, we require the £40.00 excess payment to be taken before we can offer assistance from one of our recovery agents. In regards to our call handlers asking you questions this is a legal requirement under the Data Protection Act 1998, this governs the protection of your personal data. We advise all of our clients to have garage attention following breakdown assistance from ourselves to check for any underlying faults and to have the vehicle fully checked over. This is part of the policy and is listed in the general cover exclusions.

48. Service for the same or similar fault or cause of incident to that previously attended in regard to the same vehicle unless written proof of garage or dealer is presented to us.

“worst company ever”

I advise no one to join rescue my car breakdown or their insurance adding extra charges the staff are rude and not helpful I broke down they weren't going to come out for a min of 4 hours they wanted 40 charge extra I had my newborn baby with me middle of winter stuck far out from anyone or anything the staff spoke in riddles on the phone to find they wouldn't have the right tools there's lotsa loop holes in there policy so they take your money but give no service… Read Full Review

3+hrs....still nothing. Satin a Porsche in a not so nice area. Many phone calls later, i'd had enough of excuses so managed to trace the amateur's who were supposed to recover the vehicle. They said it would easily be a further 3-4hrs min before they would be able to attend. 7+hrs to recover a Porsche with a seizing n/s handbrake? “Dont buy this policy its pointless”

I got the standard breakdown national cover and broke down in London and am from Bradford, was told that l would have to pay for the excess £40 which l was happy to but they would towe me to a local garage to fix, the whole purpose I took out the national cover was for this reason so l can get towed back to Bradford surely any problems can be fixed at a garage, l should have got AA cover for the same price including for local recovery which this is effectively. Last week i bought this policy. Yesterday morning my car wouldn't start so had to call for an engineer to fix it. I was told that, i will have to pay £40 as an excess. I gave my card details. “horrible customer service”

I have breakdown cover from this company and the service was shocking after phoning three times to make sure I was covered for the damage done to my car they said it was fine and I might be charged extra for special equipment which again was fine. “Absolutely diabolical !!!! Avoid at all costs ”

This insurance company will not pay for your car to be fixed if in the even of a accident being your fault! You will be charged double excess and go through 2 claims if you want your car fixed even if your fully comp!! Which means higher premiums next time , the staff don't know what they are on about 1 tells you one thing another tells u diffrent you never know what's the truth , if your under 25..!!! My car wouldn't start outside my house which is a nightmare on a Monday morning as I have a very long commute..... I can't believe I was only half an hour late for work. “3+ hours wait lone female in sub zero temps!”

I broke down in Birmingham at 16:00hrs. Contacted Rescue my car and had to listen to a string of phone options regarding purchasing various insurance & other products. I thought I must have dialled the wrong number so cancelled & checked my breakdown card - discovered this was the correct number and it was normal procedure. Having communicated with your claims department I am totally appalled. The response I received failed to offer any reason as to why the second recovery vehicle was sent to the wrong location. Utterly unacceptable. I will never recommend anyone to Rescue My Car.

On behalf of rescue my car I would like to apologise for the level of service you have received. In the event that a vehicle cannot be recovered or repaired there are a number of solutions we look to offer our clients.

- If your vehicle is not repairable in the same working day that you first report the incident to us, or in a period agreed between us and you, we will pay up to £100.00 (maximum) towards the cost of alternative transport or car hire.

Or

- If we decide to provide alternative accommodation we will pay a maximum of £66.00 for a lone traveller or £40.00 per person for one night for up to 7 passengers, including the driver. The maximum payment per incident will be £280.00.
