I'd heard great things about this from friends and on impulse I thought I'd get some prior to my holiday (nothing worse than a white bum on the beach!). It went on fairly easy, but after an hour of so of waiting for a blast of colour nothing! I was hoping it would be washed off before bed as it was so sticky, but no! After a night in the spare room I did have some colour (not a bad colour), but when I jumped in the shower most of it went off down the sink! I tried again on night 2 and... (read more)

Well what can I say... This product cost me 26 quid in Debenhams and was a TOTAL waste! I've used fake bake Flawless and that was quite good but it would take a while to get to the colour I liked, so I thought I'd get the gel as it was suppost to be darker... Yeah its not, its even lighter than what I used before! I was also patchy even though I exfoliated before, I decided to use the whole bottle as I thought it might get better the more I used it and I was wrong, I looked like a tiger! I... (read more)

I have faketanned for years and am naturally very pale. I purchased this gel after using the mousse and finding that the colour wasn't dark enough for summer colour.
This gel is awful - I thought it was me and that I had exfoliated using an oil based scrub so I reapplied for a second time, but to no avail, it was awful.
I had to wash it off twice and use the remnants of my Clarins tan instead - don't buy this tan, it's the worst I've ever used and that is saying something..... (read more)

After reading lots of negative reviews of this product, I was quite sceptical and thought I might be disappointed with what I had bought.. but no.. fake bake xtreme is AMAZING! I bought the new improved formula for £27.50 and it is well worth the money. Unlike all of the other fake tans including St.Tropez and Xen-Tan, the Xtreme doesn't give you a fake yellowy looking tan.. instead it gives you a gorgeous, dark, natural browny bronze colour. As for the smell, it's pretty nice.. smells like... (read more)

I was very disappointed with this product, I have used various self-tanners, including Xen-tan, Famous Daves and Fake Bake original tanner, all of which I have been impressed with. I have quite dark hair and thought that it would be great to get an even darker version of fake bake, so purchased the Xtreme tanning gel. The gel itself if very dark brown, the first thing I noticed was the smell, its very strong and potent, the stuff dries very quickly so its impossible to blend it in, this... (read more)

I was pleasantly surprised with the results of this tan. After reading all the bad reviews I thought I would still give it a go as I got on well with all the other fake bake products. The main issues that I read about were the difficulty of applying, although I had no problem this, probably due to the fact that I use a tanning mitt instead of the gloves provided as I find that this give a more even coverage. Also I found the smell of this particular tan over the other fake bake products is a... (read more)

As a big fan of Fake Bake original lotion i was very excited to try out what I had hoped would just be a darker more 'extreme' version of it.....
I was however massively disappointed...
I had read about its 'quick drying' issue, however i consider myself a bit of a pro at tanning now and did not see this being an issue for me.An issue isnt even the word...it was ridiculous!I put the first bit onto the glove as usual, began very swiftly rubbing it over my lower leg and immediately realised that... Ive been fake tanning for years and ive tried allsorts, I thought this tan wouLd be great, it totally isnt! I heard that it dried fast but I am fast at applying anyway, but this is ridiculous theres no way you can do it neat enough in time before it dries and when you attempt to blend it in it rubs off in rolls and goes patchy, I got as far as my arms and gave up. The only good thing is the colour but i will not use this again! (read more)

i think this is an absaloute letdown for fakebake. being a a fakebake worshipper and qualified beauty therapist trained to use fakebake in the salon, i was extremely dissapointed.i decided to get some to try on myself before using on clients and its a good job i did because i found it dried wayyyy to quickly, made me look mucky and it was extremely hard to blend. It started to leave black bits of dried gel all over my body. i had prepped my skin properly and done everything i learnt from... (read more)

I am an avid fake bake user so i didn't think twice about buying the xtreme version to try out.
As they say it does dry extremley quickly and the smell is very strong when you're applying it, it smells like an anticeptic alcohol wipe! I apply fake bake twice a week so for me personally the quick drying part wasn't an issue and in fact i prefer it as it means i don't have to sleep in another sheet when i go to bed to protect my bed sheets.
It is however really stickly, so don't rest any... (read more)

Fake Bake Xtreme Tanning Gel
This product is going to get so many different reviews as it definately has it's good and bad points.
The end colour is incredibly natural, the best I have ever experienced, and gives a lovely 'few days in the sun' look.
It is almost odourless and does not leave you smelling of biscuits or nasty purfume.
Even if the guide colour looks patchy the end result is always streak and patchy free.
It breaks down evenly, does not leave you patchy and... (read more)

I was told this was darker than st tropez, but when I tried it I found it was no darker infact possibly even lighter (after you wash off the next day.) It went on a nice colour though and very light scent.I have fairly dry skin on my hands and found this made my hands VERY patchy, where st tropez lotion doesn't. The gel just doesnt feel as good as putting lotion on and you have to apply fairly quickly although I didnt find that a problem. Prefer st tropez lotion. (read more)

i thought this was ok! like ppl have said, it dries really quick as soon as it touches the skin so difficult to blend, u have to be super fast! this was my 1st time using it and i did the whole exfoliating, moisturising then applying the tan and left it overnight. i have used it 3 times so far, 3 days in a row. the first application, there wasn't much colour that i could notice so i applied another layer the next day....it began to look darker but i wanted an all round BRONZE/BROWN look so i... I have very fair skin and have used Fake Bake Xtreme Self Tanning Gel but most of it washes off so I decided I would buy fake bake extreme, thinking that I might be left with some sort of a tan and believe it or not this was worse, it completely washed off , all I had to do was stand under the shower and I was left as white as I was before I put it on after having left it on overnight. Needless to say I will be changing to another product. (read more)

I was so looking forward to trying (Fake Bake Xtreme) only to be really disappointed, I applied the first application not much colour so i applied again the second and third night, and still not a dark colour as it states, I'm a (lighter)olive skin tone so i thought the xtreme would be the best one to get a good colour but it was a big big disappointment !!!!!!! The colour of Fake Bake Xtreme Self Tanning Gel was dark, nice bottle. Being a highly qualisfied beauty therapist, I am a pro at getting the most streak free natural looking tan from a bottle! ... But this stuff was quite frankly a let down. I bought it from my local Harvey Nichols for £28, so it was a little more expensive than the usual Fake bake, but as it makes out it is the most extreme dark tan you can possibly get- i thought it would be quite an investment.
I prepped my skin as... (read more)

I bought Fake Bake Xtreme Self Tanning Gel after reading about fake bake reviews, but i wanted to try the xtreme tan.
I bought it of ebay for 11.99 plus £2.00 postage which was very good price.
I've used it about 3 times now and it is awesome! best fake tan i have ever used and so much better than St Tropez (that's my opinion) But the 4th time i used it about 3 days ago.. i have been itching really bad and my body has gone all red. I've looked on the internet on sites and it says i may have... (read more)

Wow I was so excited to get fake bake..since its supposed to be the best self tanner ever. When it was the worst! I put it on and it dries so fast so it leaves streaks on ur skin and when u go to take a shower it all washes off and u have no tan!..everyone should try xen-tan..its the best I've tried it looks good right after u apply it so u don't have to shower to get an even tan..and it doesn't wash off! On application - it appears a nice deep & dark colour that is until the next morning when you go for a shower, EVERYTHING washes off and you are left with a VERY VERY VERY LIGHT tan shade.
It states on bottle normally apply once a week-not if want an XTREME tan...this product would need to be applied 3-4 a week to get an xtreme tan and for the price per bottle there is much better products out there a lot cheaper to do the 3-4 times a week application.
Not worth the high price tag.
I would... (read more)

Being quite tanned already I found this to be a wonder product, you get a great, deep looking tan that lasts for days. People will comment on your lovely tan.
You can use on your face so its a nice even colour all over your body, very natural.
£25 well spent and the best tan on the market BY FAR!! (read more)

I don't know about Fake Bake Xtreme Tanning Gel but it certainly was an Extreme disappointment! You hear people ranting and raving about Fake Bake and how good it is. That was not the case for me! I was most upset and felt cheated of my £25. Thats a lot of money to spend on something that doesn't do what it says on the bottle! As I said above I will try it again. Only because I don't want to waste my money completely. I will update my review/post a new comment after the next... (read more)
