After owning a Dyson this one was supposed to be better - well I can tell you it is not. Very poor build quality and the belts break after 2-3 hours use.
Shame really from what used to be a reputible company.
So - its back to Dyson

This Hoover HPP16 Performer Pet model competes where they never did before. After surveying the market and ultimately considering price I was guided to Airpower and NOT watts. The machine isn't best in category for weight but tops out with features and price. Some of its operations are a little fiddly but no better or worse than other makes. It's got good suction and is sturdy and well built - would recommend and would buy again.

Bought this Hoover HPP16 Performer Pet vacuum, thinking I could trust the Hoover name for quality. You can't. It is poor quality, in no way is it lightweight and the filter blocks too quickly, loosing suction. Heavy, hard to manouvre, messy to empty, difficult to clean dust-bin, filter block too quick.

I bought the Hoover Performer Pet last year from Argos at £100 off the price. After owning a Panasonic and I can tell you that there is no comparision, the Hoover has lightweight on the box but it isn't, it is a well built machine. Some people complain about the size of the bin, there are a lot of smaller size bins on other models (do they own a hotel!). I have no complaints and would buy another if I have to.

We own one of the Hoover HPP16 Performer Pets and I think it is a classy looking hoover, a nice machine to use. Pro on this machine include the Words: the stretchy hose, the cleaning attachments, the nice and powerful pickup and the fact that it is easy to empty bin on this vacuum cleaner.

In my opinion this product is a very sad reflection on a company who used to have such a good reputation and whose products used to be built to last - my mother's Hoover was still going strong after 30 years!

I don't normally review products until I've owned them a year, but this model's predecessor has recieved a major slating & I don't think this one is so bad. In recent years we've had 2 Dysons and a Bissel, all 3 cleaners were expensive models that you expect a certain standard from. When I threw the Bissel out recently I decided that I would no longer pay several hundred pounds for a cleaner which will only last a year, so went looking for a budget cleaner. At slightly under £100 on special offer, the Performer Pet certainly is cheap compared to most others.
It's very simple & very easy to empty, so simple in fact that you may as well clean the filter while emptying the bin. It's got a good long power lead and pushing it around doesn't give you earache.
It's not the easiest cleaner to push around though, but then no way is it the hardest either. Its also fair to say that edge cleaning isn't as good as cleaners I've had in recent years BUT I would honestly recommend this cleaner! Its not stylish so won't appeal to yuppies but if you're the sort of person that likes good quality as well as value for money then this is a great choice.
Don't get me wrong, it definitely won't win any awards for best cleaner, but it does make it in to the 'best buy' catergory.
The real test comes with time, cleaners are always brilliant when you first get them, but what are they like when you're dashing around the house like a lunatic? Will this one withstand the test of time? I'll post again in a years time & let you know.
Also worth noting that Dyson have laid off British workers & moved their factories overseas to cash in on cheap labour, Hoover are still very much in the heart of the UK. It may not be a big thing to you, but I have to be honest & say this helped influence my selection.
