Good Points: Enough power, good handling.
Bad Points: Sights.
General comments: My K98 was purchased in a small second hand shop. I think I paid $35 in the early 60's. It had a fine bore and was good to very good NRA condition otherwise. A trip to a gun show netted a quantity of 8 mm ammo.
I didn't try for a group size with this gun because the rifle's v notch rear and cone front sight are too hard for me to see. But, my friend was able to "kill" one gallon paint cans regularily at 50+ yards.
The guns size was just right and the action operated with typical Mauser smoothness and there were no malfunctions. With an Enfield type peep sight this would have made a good shooter in my opinion.
