Good Points: Tried and true design for a battle rifle. The Colt AR-15 is easy to use, handles well, is accurate, accepts numerous accessories, and is relatively easy to clean. The upper can be swapped out for different calibers, from .204 Ruger to .450 Bushmaster, making this a very versatile firearm.
Bad Points: Complete disassembly can be trying. Removal of the forearm stock via the delta ring is fairly awkward. A delta ring wrench simplifies matters greatly. The stock iron sights leave much to be desired in a low light environment. And, the 5.56 mm NATO round is a bit underpowered. Accessories are very expensive.
General comments: I purchased a Colt AR-15 HBAR-II Match Target with a 1 in 9" twist 16" barrel. It is a great little rifle for target shooting and varmint hunting. I bought it for use in law enforcement where it is really handy for clearing a building or conducting traffic stops. The only issue is that I needed to spend an additional $600.00 (collapsible stock, EOTech Holographic Sight, etc.) to make it meet my exact needs. However, right out of the box it is a great utilitarian rifle.
