The best vacuum I've had, would recommend this to anyone , had a motor fault after nearly 4 years, got in touch with Miele the vacuum was picked up the next day, fixed with a new bag , serviced and the part garanteed for 12 months, all for the ( I think very reasonable price of £84 pound, oh and for those folk who want to moan about the price of the bags, when you did your homework into. I bought a Miele S5261 Ct and Dog vacuum in Sept 2008. It has been used for normal domestic use in a three bed semi.
Now, 6 months out of guarantee, the motor has burn out.
I think that a £200 premium quality cleaner should last much longer than that particularly as Miele claim that they design their products to have an average lifespan of 20 years.
I will be taking it back to Currys to complain.

The motor has burnt out on mine twice in 3.5 years - not waht I expected from Miele. Exit filter needs replacing often so guess there is too much dust gettign through the bags or from around the pipe fitting. Won't be sending it fro repair again - perhaps Bosch Home Pro? (read more)

I have for many years now owned a Miele vacuum cleaner in my own own. I have several rental properties and for those I opted for alternative brands. This decision was purely based on price, as obviously Miele is at the higher end of the pricing spectrum. Considering the breakdowns and problems incurred with the alternative brands, I started purchasing Miele vacumm cleaners for my rental properties also as Miele, regardless being quite pricy, still offers good value for money and combined... Great vacuum cleaner, picks up all the dogs hairs, leaves the pile on the carpet standing up looking freshly vacuumed. Have had for 9 years without fault, still works as good as new. would recommend to anyone! (read more)

I have owned many brands of vacuum cleaner over the years( electrolux, Goblin, Sebo, Henry etc) the Miele Cat & Dog is infinitely superior! The suction is outstanding and the filtration system ( stopping dust being blown into room) is excellent. Further, a little research online provides replacement bags and accompanying dust filters at a very good price! Superb Build quality rounds off a star buy. A very efficient and practical vacuum cleaner, most of other brands cannot even be compared with it. An excellent vacuum cleaner! Not only for cat and dog owners. Essential for everyone with a full carpeted home. If the price of dust bags was lower, this would be the best buy on the market ! The price is high, and especially the dust bags are too pricey. Not a rip-off, but not far from that !
Also, the spare parts, like the hose, are very expensive.

I have used Dyson cleaners for years and thought they were the best on the market till i disscovered the Miele CAT & DOG TT 5000 vacuum cleaner. It really is far better than the dyson in every respect if only i had purchased one years ago. (read more)

I have looked long and hard at reviews on vacuums and came to the conclusion that the cheap models I bought from local supermarkets are a complete waste of money as the suction was no good on them for picking up pet hairs and general suction was greatly reduced with only half a bag full of debrie.
I decided to buy the Miele as the reviews were excellent and I must say that my money was well spent. The first time I used the product, the pet hairs just vanished off the furniture and carpets...

Overall a very good product but no good to me. I note in various tests e.g. Which, much is made of the cleaner's ability to pick up hairs whilst no mention is made of the fact that they then have to be extracted from the brush MANUALLY using scissors. (read more)

I would definitely recommend the Miele CAT & DOG TT 5000 vacuum cleaner. It is well worth the money, and it is very easy to use and change bags.
It is is a different league to other vacuum cleaners.

I have 2 golden retrievers. The Miele cat and dog is just not up to the job. It does a brilliant job for the first 3 minutes with a new bag and then just gives up. I would not buy one again
