I was excited when I first found Mott's website. My 10 year old daughter is just starting to put finishing details on her dollhouse and this company had Mott's had some harder to find items at reasonable prices. So I place my order on December 3rd. I made an order August 30. Mid September I made and inquiry to get my shipping number because I had not received the product. I, too, received a rude response that I included my order number and apparently my message went to spam. First, I am sad that Mott's no longer has a brick & mortar store because it was fun the one or two times I visited a few years ago to see the actual products and I wish, now that I'm building a doll house, that I could still do that. Very disappointed - Motts used to be great. Since they're in CA and I'm in AZ, thought the items needed for my new miniature creation would be obtained fairly quickly. Customer placed a non-rush, ground-shipped, special order. Shipping days, weekends and holidays do not count in order processing time. Customers non-rush special order was placed on a weekend. This non-rush special order was shipped when it was only 5 business days old. Messages with spam content are sent to a spam folder. Customer did not indicate a desire to pay for air shipping or rush handling fees. Information regarding customers order was available to her through the web site 24/7, cust. did receive emails of shipment notices. Not our fault that customer is highly impatient and also not willing to pay for air shipping.

Not only did they process my order immediately. But when they realized that I had not received a discount I was supposed to get (which I missed), they wrote me right away and made sure my order had the discount taken off -- which by the way was just about $10! Item clearly marked as "assorted", meaning that the individual item comes assorted, it could vary in color or other finish. The customer ordered a miniature item of a petroleum jelly jar assorted and received the same. The customer was sent again instructions regarding how to request return for exchange but the customer has stated that she will keep the item. The customer received the item she ordered, at the price specified in the contract, and given a free upgrade to air shipping.

SEE "NONEONE'S" response below for confirmation of what I said above: He STILL wants to argue his ridiculous "policies," even as he gets yet another terrible review online. I never received an "upgrade" -- I paid $9 for shipping a $3 item 30 miles. The "instructions" I received (in a completely abusive, condescending and legalistic tone) for returning asked me to send volumes of information the seller already had and then wait for HIM to decide whether or not he deemed a return appropriate. Let me guess what the answer would have been! And let me guess who would have paid for shipping. Yes! They are definitely "arrogant" seeming, and abusive & bizarre in their behavior. I have ordered several hundred dollars worth of stuff from them and actually gave them a glowing review, but the problem comes in when you have a question or a problem & then it is like you enter the twilight zone. Their customer attitude is - well, you said it, bizarre.

Customer has falsely claimed that order status was not given. Nothing could be further from the truth. The back order status was clearly written on the customers invoice that was sent with first shipment. The customer need only have read their own invoice. Each time the customer contacted us we provided them with the link to log in to check the status of their own order. Customer received tracking numbers by email. Delivery is not pending, delivery has been made.

Update on my situation--Shortly after my barrage of questions I got one of my back order items, and a couple of days after that the second one. No one told me that one of my items was received by the company. Someone made the decision without consulting with me to send the first item because I was complaining so much and assumed incorrectly that I authorized the first item to be sent immediately even though it would cost me extra money.----Yes, I was glad to get my two outstanding items eventually and the company completed their end of the contract. However it should be noted that I ordered two apothecary cabinets and the second one, sent weeks later, didn't match ther first one because the company redesigned their product. It's not a random error or a slight color mismatch, it was a redesign. I do not trust the company to rectify any problems due to the mismatch and anyway I was able to work with the problem on my own.

Customer has falsely claimed that we did not respond, nothing could be further from the truth. The customers back order status was clearly printed on the invoice sent with their first shipment. The information on the web site that the customer was aware of before placing their order stated how the customer was to use the web site to calculate their own delivery estimates. The customer was repeatedly sent the log-in link to log in to the web site to read the status of their own order. The customer need only have read their own invoice or logged into their own account to read their order status.

In response to nonenone--the information given to me about the status of my order was "clearly" written but was too vague to be useful. It basically said that the two back orders were to be shipped when they arrived from the manufacturer (no approximate timeframe). The webpage to which I had been referred did not say when to expect the order, it just gave a timeframe when the back order would be held but said nothing about what happened when the timeframe expired. Too unclear for me to understand. This was my first time ordering doll furniture from anyone. Then when I asked repeatedly for clarifications of what this all meant, I was referred back to the literature and didn't get an explanation. Therefore, I didn't receive personal service. This company thinks that personally sending an e-mail back to a customer is personal service. It is not. Personal service means tailoring the response to the customer's specific need, even if the customer is new and totally unknowledgeable about the doll furniture ordering business. No one told me that one of my items had arrived and that the company was holding it until the second arrived. No one told me before I received my items that on the whole the manufacturer was erratic (the company admitted to this after my business was completed with them). I asked them early in the game for this information. WHY WOULD THIS INFORMATION BE WITHHELD FROM ME? If I had this information timely, I would at least had a clue about what to expect from the manufacturer, instead I was totally in the dark. I would have saved the company money by not taking up so much of their customer service energy.

I would be very leery about submitting another order. They have been totally unresponsive to my requests for information about my back order, despite my many and specific questions. They responded to general questions with wrote-type references to the contract without explaining the contract. Then when questions become harder and more specifically directed at the meaning of their policies, customer service didn't attempt personal responses at all. Instead they casually referred me to a webpage that did not help. They are totally stonewalling me. They implicitly state that they have the right to do so--my back order item arrives when it arrives and I am supposed to be charged when it ships. I believe they wrote the contract totally for their own benefit to protect themselves against problem cases, for which they take no responsibility. The customer provided a non-deliverable delivery address (an address not serviced by the carrier chosen by the customer) so the order was sent to the billing address provided by the customer. Customer received tracking number and delivery notice via email and was notified that because they had failed to provide a valid delivery address that the package would have to be sent to the customers billing address.

This customer is embarrassed because they failed to have enough money in their checking account to cover the purchase they made with us. Once they finally took care of their financial obligation we then processed the order. The customer caused their own delay due to their own failure to have enough money in their debit account. The customers statement that they are still waiting for delivery is false, the customer has received notice of delivery.

Shipment terms are FOB Shipping Point, all shipments become the legal property of the receiver once they are turned over to the customers carrier. All shipments are deemed to be delivered legally to the customer once they are turned over to the customers carrier.

I needed a small light on a pseudo birdhouse I built over some unsightly swimming pool electronics (to control the cover). At night I could not see the controls, so found a darling Miniature Dollhouse Outside Utility Light in the MOTT’s website. I had looked for some time to find just the right lamp. Though my order was a little late, this was apparently caused by a delay in the items I had ordered reaching Motts from the suppliers. I recently ordered dollhouse miniature wallpaper and flooring. I opted for standard shipping since I was not in a rush as the dollhouse build had just been started. If I were able to I would change my review from 5 stars to 1 based on the bizarre interactions that occur with this company when you have a problem. I've purchased several 100$s of items from them. Yes they have good selection, prices & fast shipment. However, if you ask them a question (via email or phone) they respond in a very rude manner. The worst issue occurred after I left my review & received my $5 coupon code. I for some reason was unable to complete my order online, and thus called in a phone order. When I tried to use my coupon code they said it could only be used online. So I told the guy to hold off on the order & I would try again on line. I successfully completed the online order & used the coupon code. When my order arrived, they had charged me a $5 restocking fee for the "phone order" thus negating my $5 coupon. When I emailed them to complain, I received the same type of email complained about in some of the other reviews - rude, bizarre, etc. Essentially they said I had to write a letter & send it via US Mail (interesting since they were so hot for "on line" when I tried to use my coupon). Their email also outlined other rather bizarre requirements (to meet the requirements of their sales contract...). I sent them a letter & they have not responded. It's only $5. No - it's the principal.
