Good Points: You get to play all most of your Genesis games that's been collecting dust for ages. Very fashionable since Retro is back.

Bad Points: Not all games are playable; 32X can't be played on the Nomad since it can only handle 16bit games.

General comments: The SEGA Nomad was way ahead of its time when it was first conceived. Now, it's still ahead of its time for hardcore game collectors. If you still have some SEGA Genesis (Mega Drive) games laying some where in your house, you still can play it if you have one of these. Now, the good thing about this is that the Nomad is region free like the Genesis. But of course, because of the different size cartridge size per region, it might have some technical problems inserting the game. Over all, because of how the battery life had improve over the age, the Nomad can run for 4-6 hours which is pretty good seeing that it supports AV cables to TV gameplay, backlight for the color screen, second player controller port. It's still one of the best systems that SEGA had created so if you spot one of these Nmad laying around in your game store, get it or else it's too late!

    - when compared to the gameboy advanced (basically a portable snes), it actually uses the same cartridges as the genesis, as opposed to snes ports. the gba only has 2 face buttons thus limiting gameplay in snes ports.
    - the nomad plays all genesis games
-i personally consiter the nomad to be another remake of the genesis, like a smaller genesis 3 (the genesis 3 is about twice the size, comes with a 6-button controller, and is equally incompatible with the add-ons) this makes it the most portable ...

First, it is Sega then its design, its screen, its capabilities... perfect!
Grab it if you can, if you saw one yesterday and missed it, that was your last chance to own one. Then, you are doomed. Without this, you are not a serious Sega collector.

The Sega Nomad is probably the best handheld ever released. Certainly the most powerful for a long time.
It plays all Genesis games, minus a few REALLY early ones, and ones than require a special controller in the Player 1 port.
Yea, it has terrible battery life, but hey, that's the price you pay for portablization, right? And besides, with the ability to hook the Nomad up to a TV and connect a second player, you have a full-fledged Genesis too!

But unfortunately, everyone has realized ho ...

Sega Nomad is AWESOME! I love playing golden axe hanheld. Vectorman is awesome also. they are cool on the genesis, but on the nomad it's awesome!

The only problem is, you have to order it on eBay because its no longer avalible.

    Over and out,

The Sega Nomad was and is still a very good hand held game system. Nintendo might of just caught up with the G.B.A. but its more than 10 years after the Nomad was out. The Nomad is backlit, has video out to tv hookups, A hookup for controller 2, So two people can play on one Nomad or hook it up to a Tv so its a full size Genesis. The Grapics were and still are amazing and the Genesis games it plays are just as good as the G.B.A. games but can be found for $1 to $5, unlike the G.B.A. games. The s ...
