Good Points: One of the few real pubs in Cardiff Bay that provides basic pub food - fish n chips etc - with a limited menu, but the home made Italian pasta dishes are a hidden secret locally! Don't tell anyone. Looks rougher than it is. Lovely staff - mostly family.

Bad Points: Awful meat content in the curries - tastes and smells funny. Tables a bit rickety and the menu is limited. Play it safe - go genuine Italian.

General comments: The Packet in Cardiff Bay is a great place to avoid people, the paparazzi, great and good, and in my case the boss. Great staff, family run and good Italian food. Just don't order the curry. Oh, and if you're after a snack, the £2 toastie (for two ingredients ie cheese, ham, tomato etc) is handy too. Good place to spot lost desperate tourists who don't get out much and would rather eat in a pub than restaurant, though prices are comparable.
