“Failure of basic services”

Every time I try and use the Visa card associated with Business Current Account, fraud prevention systems are activated and the card PIN locked. It is impossible to use the card for any transactions, as each attempt delivers these results. Cheque clearing times are variable for no apparent reason, made worse by the fact that I am forced to use ATM machines in-branch to pay in cheques rather than over the counter, adding 2 days to the process. “Online Corporate banking designed by a monkey”

I switched our corporate account from Clydesdale as the service was deteriorating, unfortunately despite the advertising this banks online system was designed by a team of wombats that have no idea what a business wants and a backup team that are themselves totally frustrated by its limitations. Bulk payments are only paid twice a day! Faster payments arrive sometime in the future and payments to Santander accounts take longer than to other banks. “I'm leaving”

Personal and business app is appalling you can't transfer payments between the two. I paid money in via post office and the cash got lost between the post office and Santander. I've now been told it could take up to six weeks to retrieve the cash due to protocol and procedures. Business Start Up Account - Our experience with the bank has been horrific. We are a new business and applied for our account and were told we would receive notification of this within 3 days - didn't happen. Chased and chased the progress, after two months they said they were progressing with it. Then got a phone call to say I needed to complete an application form, said I had already done this, they said I only needed to sign it to get my overdraft approved. “Online system useless”

Steer well clear! After the balls up setting up my business account up (took nearly 2 months) it's been up and running for 2 months now. The online portal is so bad it makes me want to cry. I use this for my personal saving too. Last week I got locked out of the online business portal. Had to wait 4 working days to receive the new password in the post (received today). “Utterly useless in almost every possible way”

I'm unfortunate to have a hand full of business accounts with Santander. Up until the last few years I've always found them fairly easy to deal with, polite in the phone and knowledgeable staff. Since then it's quite the opposite. They switched me to "Corporate" for a few months, what a disaster that was, some inept fool sat in my meeting room, no idea who I was, why he was there, no idea what facilities I use, and zero product knowledge. “online banking nothing but trouble”

I had my business account with Alliance and Leicester for years, online banking had no problems, ran smoothly as it should. Santander took over and it has gone down hill rapidly, their service has gone from poor (from day one) to terrible. I continually have problems accessing my account and transferring money. “Gave up on getting the account opened”

After a month of me chasing them to open an account, gave up and cancelled. They kept giving a different reason every time for why the account was not opened. Kept changing what paper work that needed to be send, because they had changes their procedures. They never told me there was a problem, unless I phoned to ask what was happening. “refused to take cash! ”

Just opened a new business account with the Poole branch transferred from Barclays. Tried to pay in substantial amount of cash over the counter and They refused to take it despite there bring NO one else in the bank I.e. zero queue!. Was made to feel dirty and unworthy and told to pay it into a machine near the open front door in full view of passing pedestrians! No envelopes available. Dreadful. “Online banking a joke”

I make regular payments to my customers once a week using their "Multiple payments" section of the website. Its very clunky and difficult to use compounded by the fact that it keeps timing out and I lose all of the input data and have to start over. A few weeks ago, I made a large payment which crashed the site, I rang "help" and was told to try again, I did, It crashed a further two times. I gave up at that point. Since Santander took over from Alliance and Leicester, our small business banking needs have become ridiculously troublesome to manage, with non-existence service over the telephone and no in-branch support. Statements no longer received and unable to activate online statements as the system says I don't get paper statements (I know this...). Probably the worst decision of my entire life to use santander for business banking. They offer free banking as the main feature for new customers but as we signed up we quickly learnt you get absolutely no customer service, no in branch help, astronomical charges and a mickey mouse outfit on the end of the phone every time we called. I own a new start up business and have a business account with Santander for 7 months. We are profitable and most of our income is with BACS or cheques. Occasionally some of our customers pay by cash including coins. Today I had an awful experience at the Clapham Junction branch who refused, even after speaking with the manger, to pay in my coins. “Online banking migrated from Alliance/Leicester to...”

Alliance & Leicester had a really simple and efficient My Business Bank site. We got moved to Santander Corporate Banking's online "service". There are many examples of how not do implement a website and this is one of them. “They are absolutely clueless.....don't risk it....”

It's been nearly two months since I applied for a business startup account and still nothing. Several requests for information which I respond to within 1 day and get nothing back for at least a week - the questions I have got back indicate that the staff do not know even the basics about business (and mine is incredibly simple!). “Avoid this bank - Don't be fooled by their marketing”

The commercial banking arm of this bank is just a joke. I spend so much time chasing things that just get ignored. I tried to make an interantional transfer, I have phoned them 4 time over a two period and no further forward. Structually they are a mess. They have a call centre who have not control of power and just take messages that they send to their back office. Even when you issue an offical complaint, it makes no difference.
