Have applied for a new Abbey Business account for my new company six weeks ago - application being through the local 'relationship manager'.
Today I contact Abbey Business banking myself: Surprise, surprise - they do not have any record of an application in my or my companies name.
Am now trying to contact 'relationship manager'.
Guess I'll be taking my custom elsewhere....

Abbey National are absolutely terrible - have been waiting for a bank card for 6 weeks now - they keep sending it to my old address. Totally incompetent. Am on this site now looking to change. It may be free banking but its not worth it - I'd rather pay a bit and not have this hassle- Read Guest's review (56 words)

Transfered money from my business account to my private savings account with Abbey National aswell and then was not able to withdraw my money . When i called the customer help line i was told that a " hold " had been placed on the account as it was under the suspition of fraud and that to lift the hold i had to go to my local branch with photo id . I did this and was told that somebody had tried to pay money into my account and because of this it would have to be closed . OK , no problem i will ...- Read Guest's review (149 words)

2 years with Abbey National and I am flabbergasted at how poor the service is especially since santander! . just like everything in life you get what you pay for and free banking is worth jack all!
I lost 24k due to fraud and took me months to get it back and they never refunded me the costs! about £600 down all in and no refunds despit them agreeing! also useless at international chapses!!- Read Guest's review (73 words)

I applied to Abbey for a business account about 2 weeks ago, as my current Barclays account is due to start charging me soon & Abbey's free banking is very attractive. After hearing nothing for over a week, I contacted them today to check the progress of my account set-up. I was told that a letter was sent to me on 12th of this month (which I did not recieve), asking me to get a letter from either a solicitor or my accountant to validate my business as it was "high risk"! I'm a London Taxi drive ...- Read BertoDeCabio's review (135 words)

I have banked with Abbey for 2 years now but have found them to be not only penny pinching, they have poor customer service who have no idea about small businesses and i genuinely think their overseas (so called) help-line is appaling (and has cost them at least one customer - me!). My advice, get out and pay more for a better service, they make a fortune on our deposits yet we get nothing back. They provide a business bank account service that is notionally free but you lose a lot on not being ...- Read Guest's review (114 words)

The only reason I took out the Abbey National Business Bank Account was the free banking. however although they are slow to put money into the account they are very good at taking it out in charges.
they have yet to be helpfull and the recent change in the automated system caused me problems. the new set up instructions were poor.
Having used othe ron l.ine banking systems abbey are way behind.- Read Guest's review (91 words)

Abbey National Business Bank Account is a free banking service which is a major attraction, however if you have to deal with the customer services section you will see why they do not feel that they can charge for their services.- Read Guest's review (86 words)

Abbey National Business Bank Account is the worst business banking service I have every received and I regret the day I ever set foot in an Abbey branch. You are forced to make deposits and withdrawls using hole in the wall machines, you are completely denied ALL over the counter service. As a result deplosits are delayed by at least 24 hours. If you wish to withdraw a cash amount that is greater than your daily debit card limit you have no option but to transfer the funds to another bank accoun ...- Read martyngt4's review (162 words)

Despite numerous promises they have hung onto my money for over 6 weeks now. I have battled and complained and finally asked the Financial Ombudsman to intervene. I will also be complaining to the FSA.
Poor customer service, Abbey National Business Bank Account call centre personnel seem to have no banking knowledge. Put on hold all the time. Still have not had my money back.n- Read Guest's review (66 words)

I spent 3 weeks with trying to set up a business accoint with 5 other banks before I chose Abbey.
I am glad I did, as the setting up process was simple, straightforward and I was aided by a helpful customer services agent.
Having banked with Abbey on business for 2 years, I've had no issues.
The service I have received has been excellent, with a reliable and straighforward internet banking service - they used to shut the service down over-night, but it is now open 24x7!
I made a purchase that w ...- Read Guest's review (194 words)

Put money into a high interest account. Shortly after, The Abbey National brought out "Issue 2" of the account, reducing "Issue1" to less than one twelfth of the "Issue 2" level making the new account only available to "none Abbey money".
People save money over a long period and placing their savings with a bank is a trust relationship. Abbey do not seem to me to repay that trust and also seem to have more loyalty with those people who do not bank with them than those who do.- Read Guest's review (97 words)

The pro with Abbey business banking is it is completely FREE. As far as i am aware there is no other high street bank offering this service. The negative is that I have never been able to get to deal with a person face to face as the branch appears not to have anything to with business banking. You make your deposits in to the cash machine and you move money around by phone or internet. Once i got the hang of it, i have found it extremely useful. I transfer wages each month in to abbey current a ...- Read Guest's review (125 words)

Used Abbey Business Banking coming up for three years.
Truly free business banking, realtime transfers between accounts, until recently good deposit rates, no limits to transferred amounts.
Have saved / earned literally thousands of pounds more than with previous high street bank.
Was slow and cumbersome to set up and that still appears to be the case, but once done it's been really good.
Not always easy to contact (but I have found a real person's email and that gets things sorted...) ...- Read Guest's review (81 words)

i have had an account with Abbey for 18 years and I am now going to close it and move to the RBS. I am absolutely appauled at the way they deal with their customers and their money. My complaints are lengthy but have caused many headaches. I would not recommend Abbey for anything.- Read garryj's review (65 words)
