This was a great bike to ride off road but the framed snapped on the chainstay swing arm seems to be a common problem. Also the rear suspension with no lockout is a bit of a mare when climbing single track as it bottoms out. (read more)

Had 5 carrera banshee mountain bikes all bought from halfords over a period of the last 8 years, the latest bike to have was bought in June 2011 by Nov 2012 the bike frame has compleatly snapped twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They replaced the frame the first time, but refuse refund by the second time. There are defiantly much better bikes and suppliers you could go to and spend £ 700. Unfortunatly i learnt the hard way luckily i hadn't got around to attaching my Daughters child seat... (read more)

its a rearlly good bike, very few fault. it can take a beating and is brilliant all all kinds of terrain. there was one fault that occured from the beginning on the 2011 version of the bike that i got. that is that the brakes on the bike had issues and needed to be bleeded at least once a week! halfords however upgraded the brakes to a better spec for free. the tyres taht come with the bike are rearly good and grippy, however they do wear fast ecspessially on tarmac. also the chain that... I purchased my son a Carrera Banshee for his 18th birthday and I am disgusted that after 2 months of riding on low grade downhill (max 8 times) the back, lower swinging arm structure has snapped, I have now seen atleast 3 others with the same trouble. THESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AS VERY DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!!! BE AWARE if you are thinking of purchasing a Carrera Banshee from Halfords and a problem occurs they cannot help as they do not list replacement parts!!!!!! Cannot find any info on... (read more)

Bad boy bike. Looks the part rides the part and for the money i don't think there is a better bike out there. Strong and a good weight, good gear change and great breaks. Get this you wont be dissapointed. Unfortunately like cars one comes off the belt every so often that is no good, this is why people have bad experiances, but this bike is the dogs. Both on and off roads, once you get the little niggles sorted out like every new bike you will be thraping the roads and cutting the roots... (read more)

I have always been a bit weary of Halfords own brand products, this however has been a really nice surprise.
I was looking to upgrade from from my Hardtail XC as I was starting to get into free-riding. I originally planned on getting a Kona Coiler or similar, but after a chance visit to a halfords store, I saw the Carrera Banshee Mountain Bike. I double taked as I read through the spec, and couldn't believe that I could pick this up brand new for £499. Not believing what I was seeing, I...

Ive had this bike for less than a month but it already feels like the bike Ive had since I was a kid. It performs on both the road and the roots and I havent felt like Im out of my depth once. My last bike was an Orange downhill machine but i really would have this over it 9 times out of 10. I have put a fox clicker rear shock on it (personal preference) and a set of DH forks and it handles just as well as it did out of the box.
With bikes in this price range I am usually a little nervous...

I got the Carrera Banshee when I first started riding about 3 years ago It was a great bike for somone like me who was just getting into DH/FR. As I progressed I found the bikes componants like the front forks (sr sun tours) and the rims were just not up for the 8ft drops i was sending it off which was fair enough considering the £500 I paid for it. So i maid a few up grades, a pair of Halo combats and a set of marozcchi junior T's and boy does this thing perform the frame has stayed stiff... (read more)

I bought a Carrera Kashmir mountain bike about twenty years ago, and after a lot of hard work on rough trails the bike looks and performs pretty much as it did when I bought it, with no apparent wear to bearings and very little adjustment being required. It has been meticulously maintained by myself and the only replacements have been tubes and tyres.
