“will not charge - therefore does not clean my teeth”

★☆☆☆☆

written by louisederby on 10/01/2014

I have had my professional brush now for 3 years. Although not used it for several months as the battery will no longer charge. I kept meaning to work out how to open it up to see what type of replacement battery I need. I could not work it out so thought I would sear h online to find that it is useless and Oral b have not manufactured replacements. What??????? Would never have spent £200 on this had I known. I don't think of cleans any better than my partners £30 brush. I could have had 6 of them for the money I wasted on this item!! He wad going to buy me a new one. No way. But I would have brought a £10 battery.

“Braun scam”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/05/2012

The brush is intentionally overpriced at £150+ then the retailer knocks the price down & Braun offer £15 discount but put in the small print proof of postage in not proof of receipt for the offer!!! I will not buy or recommend Braun products to anyone again as the company are a bunch of con-men. As for the brush it is probably as good as a Philips brush, but you are being ripped off with the price & offers also u can't replace the rechargeable battery, so what is it costing to run this thing also with the exorbitant price of replacement heads that need changing ever couple of weeks. Stick to a cheap discounted toothbrush if u have to have electric, then u can throw them away. Better still use a manual brush costing u less than the price of a Braun replacement head& think of the calories burned using a manual brush plus the saving on electricity. Remember who you are dealing with Braun did not honour my £15 discount voucher even though I sent it recorded, kept a copy of the reciept, bought 3 packs of there special toothpaste & 8 replacement heads. The only reason I can think is because I got a discount off Boots but that was a boots promotion not Braun & I still paid over £100

I wrote this review a month ago and I have had to eat my words. so it's only fair I update this. (I would remove it if I knew how)
Braun has paid out on the offer, I recieved the cheque today a little late but it arrived. So I am here eating humble pie and thinking over the month of using the brush I have grown quite attached to it, wether it's worth the full asking price is debatable but I must admit its growing on me.

“I was given a Smart Oral B as a gift and i loved it. ...”

I was given a Smart Oral B as a gift and i loved it. Apart from spending a fortune on all the different kinds of heads, it can become a little compulsive.
However, all that changed when just a little over the 2 year guarantee, my tooth brush died, it just no longer charges. I have spoken to customer services and apparently it seems my battery has come to the end of it's life expectancy. Once this happens, the whole unit is defunct. The dead battery can't be replaced, nor can you buy just a new hand held unit to use with your current smart system. Apparently they expect the battery to last for 3 years, but this depends on how often you brush your teeth, three years is based on brushing for 2 min twice a day. Naughty me must have brushed my teeth more than that since mine only lasted just over two years.
So just be aware the unit will only last 3 years at the very most. Then it will become landfill.
I think they should tell people this when you are looking to buy it. Does the British Dental Health Foundation, who recommend it, know that the more you brush your teeth with this product the more you reduce it's working life. Not the brush heads, that makes sense, but the whole unit becomes defunct!

Actually, the battery can be replaced although braun have not made it real easy. There are several vids and instructions on the web to guide you (or a handy friend) in making the change, battery cost about £2.00UK!
