I arrived at the Hacienda del sol in las Americas late at night and the first thing I noticed was the open air reception with 2 drunks asleep on the dirty sofas. These awoke and proceeded to harrass the new guests queueing for their rooms. I Was given a large map giving directions to my room(I was a lady on my own, meeting my husband the following day) I had no help or offer to carry my suitcase(I have always had someone offer when with other female friends or alone).I walked around complex, up and down several flights of stairs and finally got to my appartment. There are lots of stairs so not good for the disabled.

My room smelt of stale aftershave and general uncleanliness. The bedroom was on my left as I walked in and had a window with absolutely no view as it consisted of a long thin opening near the ceiling with slats(like a prison cell)The furniture in my room was very dated.

I was awoken at approx 5am by a several drunks screaming in the coutyard that lay in the centre of the appartments. Then a guy repeatedly banged on my door calling for his friend(wrong appartment)then he proceeded to bang on several other doors.I was woken regularly throughout my week by drunks.

When the sun came up I explored my apartment and realised someone had carved their initials into the work surfaces, fixtures were damaged and the cooker didn't work properly. The bathroom was mouldy and tatty and cleanliness wasn't of a very high standard.

The pool was awful,it was also filthy with crisp pkts floating in it.

The staff were helpful and friendly. There were cockcroaches around but I understand this to be the norm in Tenerife.I had a large one on my balcony and requested the staff remove it for me which they did.

This was the worst accomodation I had ever stayed in and I wouldn't ever stay there again. It was so bad I actually booked into a nearby hotel(at my expense)for my last 2 nights.

In the reception area there were posters advertising various activities all of which seemed very focussed at the 18-25 yr olds,i.e foam parties and booze cruises.Certainly not a place you would want to take your mother to or your children.

Arrived mid afternoon, got to our room overlooking the pool (thought this would be a good point) which was very basic and slightly shabby at first inspection.
On closer inspection electric sockets were faulty, the ceiling in the bathroom was just about falling in on us & also dripped constantly. The bed sheets had blue stains on them and had a door to adjoining room which every new guest who was not with our party seemed to think was a wardrobe they would be able to open if they tried it enough ...

We arrived at the Hacienda Del Sol at approximately 12.30am on the 15th August. The taxi dropped us off and we noticed as we were making our way to check in at the reception there were several cockroaches in the grounds of the apartments.

We were given a map to show us to our room which was 327. When we arrived at room 327 we thought this can't be the room advertised in the brochure, because it was dark, dirty and everything looked worn out. Some of the fittings were hanging off the wall and ...

I would not reccomend this filthy hotel to anybody, unless you want to have cockroaches crawling in your bed at night.
The pool was hosed down once in a fortnight. The pool was dirty.
Everywhere was unclean and crawling with cockroaches.
    The staff were very friendly.
Lots of steps in this hotel.
Beds were bad quality. Two singles and a camp bed.
