    To LadyFisher in Rotorua.
    Like you, we were unknowingly taken for 670 pounds vehicle deposit and fuel deposit. Following a spate of phone calls and emails, we managed to obtain a 600 pound refund but they have kept the 70 fuel deposit, claiming the tank was empty. They even produced a return document, obviously fake because it was printed out 2 months after the car was returned and filled out on the day they scanned and emailed it as "proof" the car was returned with an empty fuel tank.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Failed to return deposit. Service was fine except paid more than twice the agreed costs due to failure to return deposit. Failed to respond to any contact in relation to this matter and the fine print in the agreement fails to say 'refundable' deposit - so have been unable to gain assistance with this matter.

    We met a representative at the airport. I remember him well; he was our meet and greet staff member of Car Hire U.K. and was extremely helpful, I would have provided a written compliment for this. However, like most people who have reviews in your column, we have also been burnt.     We picked up our hire car at Heathrow airport, paid extra for meet and greet and was met off our flight and taken to car straight away. Car went okay, no problems with it at all.
    We returned it to the Hilton hotel car park and rang Car-Hire-UK.com to say we had dropped car off and took keys to the security man in the booth.
    We took photos of the whole car and the dash with mileage, and fuel tank showing full, in case of a dispute.

    We hired a car from Car-Hire-Uk in August. Paid for the hire on November 2008 and several times later contacted the customer service team to advise they had incorrect arrival time. We finally received email to advise the "records had been updated".
    Arrived on time at Heathrow and no car. Rang the company repeatedly for more than 4 hours. Car finally delivered 4.5 hours later. Departed Heathrow and discovered Air-Conditioner didn't work. This meant an uncomfortable and hot drive though London in ...

    This company should be banned from doing business. Take a serch on the net to see how many people there are still waiting for a retur of the deposit. I am one of them - and countless emails/phonecalls has not helped!

    Highly recommend Car-Hire-UK.com excellent brand new vehicle, with built in GPRS!! Something extra we didnt pay for never goes a miss, we arrived early with 2 kids 1 in buggy on my own, had booked the premier meet and greet service which is really good, nice friendly girl waiting for us on arrival and helped me with the kids and luggage to our vehicle, and helped with trolley etc, really made me pleased and happy, its not nice arriving to a strange country but this company really made my holiday ...

    Recently decided to hire a car in England so I decided to search for Car rental gatwick, Car-Hire-UK came up on the 1st page! Went through their site (easy to navigate I must say), however i'm not very confident on a computer so I used the Live chat function at the top of the homepage.     Recently returned our car to Car hire uK and found the service to be exceptional good value for money, vehicle latest specifiation new vehicle, and cant go wrong for only £265.55 for 3 weeks hire, we took excess cover so never paid a deposit, as we damaged a car with hertz and got stung, well paid for damage is suppose never a nice feeling, but certainly recommend good value for money.

    Hired a car from Car-Hire-UK.com and later regretted not checking the company out on the Internet. To cut a long story short any over seas visitors renting a car from this company will be lucky to see their deposit again.
    Check the company out on Google and you will see trading standards have regular dealings with this company. It took me 3 months to get my deposit back but it seems the number of complaints against this company is catching up with them. Trading Standards and the credit card comp ...

    Will never use Car-Hire-UK.com again. Car was fine, pick up was fine. But absolutely no response on getting my deposit back after calling and e-mailing for 8 weeks!

    Rented car last year, deposit was taken immediately however took months to return after finally making legal threats.
    Car-Hire-UK will not answer calls and seem to run the business on the premise that people from overseas will not pursue lost deposits. I'm surprised the firm hasn't been shut down yet. Hire company never claimed car was damamged, they simply lied when deposit was asked for.

    I rented a car from Car-Hire-UK.com in late Jan 2009. They never returned my deposit despite numerous attempts to contact them. Each time I did, no one wanted to handle my queries and was left on hold or they simply hung up.

    I rented a car from Car-Hire-UK.com in December, 2008, until now they have not refunded my deposits charged to my credit card despite numerous emails, and enquiry to the credit card company. I would not use them again and would not recommend them.

    The car was fine and no hassle in getting the car. Unfortunately, Car-Hire-UK.com still have my deposits though i have returned the car in perfect condition and full fuel. I think this is no fair to the customers.
