A wonderful holiday was spoiled yesterday 13/10/2010 when Ocean Village fell at the last hurdle of getting it's Glasgow passengers to the airport on time to catch the Thomas Cook flight TCX827L home. They got us to Palma airport barely one hour before we were supposed to be in the air. The check in girl was incredibly slow. It took her half an hour to check in three couples and two families of three. The security took half an hour. By the time we cleared there it was after our flight time so... (read more)

This was my first cruise. Being only 18 I was a bit concerned that the cruise would be rather boring and full of 'older' passengers, however, it was brilliant! There was a great mix of old and young alike.. the entertainment was brilliant, especially the tribute acts and comedian Kevin McCarthy. Food was gorgeous in all places, we mainly ate in the Waterfront restaurant as it was cleaner than Plantation. The Bistro was well worth the extra money, shame James Martin wasn't onboard. The cabins... (read more)

We are in our late forties. This was our third caribbean cruise with OV1 - we wanted to celebrate her final visit to the wonderful caribbean. Three and a half thousand pounds (plus) not well spent which is a shame.
Unfortunately, both she and some of the staff seemed very tired and weary.
The ships FEMALE photographers definately needed an attitude adjustment, we watched as they sneered and tutted at older passengers, and constantly made snide comments between themselves when people refused... (read more)

Our first cruise and we were a little dubious as it was for 23 nights! We were on OV2, the ship was lovely and kept very clean, staff were always friendly and helpful. Some of the entertainment was mediocre but some of it was excellent Robbie Williams and Freddy Mercuty tributes were really good. Food was excellent with plenty of choice, fantastic desserts. We ate at La Luna a number of times because the food was so good and the prices really good. Ports of call were great (St Kitts,... (read more)

This was our fist time cruising and was a little concerned from some of the comments we received beforehand about it being 'too' informal. However, we had a fantastic time. You could dress up if you wanted (we did), you could eat when you wanted, do as much or as little as you wanted - it's all about you. We chose to take part in the excursions at every port and we are so glad we did, as these were excellent value for money and very well arranged. We ate in The Bistro once and the food was... We have 3 weeks to go before our cruise on Ocean Village starts. Already we regret booking it. We booked early for a special anniversary and have since discovered that the cruise has since been sold for £1,000 less than we paid. Also, we booked a specific cabin and our booking confirmation confirms this. Now 3 weeks before we leave our cabin has been changed. Ocean Village say they can do nothing about it. They changed it, why can't they change it back. (read more)

Ocean Village Two, Excellent Caribbean Cruise
We have just returned from an AMAZING 2 week Caribbean cruise aboard Ocean Village two. We have absolutely NO faults with the ship, service, staff, entertainers, cabins, etc. This was a most memorable cruise you could ever hope to go on.
The ship has a casual feel to it. No need to dress formally for dining etc. The cabins were large, spacious, with plenty of storage space. In the main cabin there are 2 sets of 4 drawers on the bedside... (read more)

We enjoyed our holiday to the Caribbean in January 08 we went on the Ocean Village 2. We could not really fault this ship, lovely cabins well kept, showers and fascilities excellent. The food was great. We only went on trips organised by ourselves, and this can be done very cheaply if when you get o/s you match up with others who want to do the same and see the same sights as yourself. very easy, and we are in our seventies so can't afford tp go on the trips (expensive) from the ship. The main plus point was the friendliness of the staff who really went out there way to help. The cabins were very comfortable with the air conditioning and were cleaned frequently. The showers and wash facilities were good also.

Food, service general value for money. Holiday camp bingo type atmosphere.

Staff on Ocean village Cruises are extremely polite where ever you went on board. The food in all the restaurants was first class, plenty of things to do, entertainment very professional On March 15th 2008 our cruise arrived at Belize and we tried to find the fruit market that we were told was worthy of a visit, unfortunately this was a bad experience as we wandered in to a no-go area of Belize. I feel passengers should be told of the no-go areas that exist in ports-of-call. (read more)

1st cruise, very pleased, good itinerary, the ships staff were great, food great, the only negatives for me were the flights. Ocean Village should consider using a better airline. On the last night our luggage had to be ready for collection so the day that we flew back we had no spare clothes to change in to. Apart from that I thought Ocean Village offered outstanding value for money, the ship was in great shape for a 20 year old ship, staff are always cleaning and painting. Well recommended.

First and foremost bear in mind that once you are on the ship (presumably this goes for most cruises) that it's a 'target rich' customer environment! You will be pushed to purchase photographs, art, book places in the paid restaurants (Bistro and La Luna) excursions and the like. However, it is your choice you don't have to buy them so prepare for that and you'll be fine.

We loved the relaxed atmosphere of this ship, the food was good, hardly any children about although they were very well behaved. We went with OV2 last November 2007, with one week prior to the cruise at the Accra Beach hotel in Barbados, that was fabulous, couldn't fault the hotel or Barbados.
We were then looking forward to the cruise, 'sugar and spice', well it was absolutely awful. If you like queuing this is the place to be, you have to queue for everything, the lifts, food, shops, getting on and off the ship, queuing everywhere.

The ship is spotless through out, there is a fairly good choice of food in restaurants but they seem to cater for people north of the border (uk) so lots of curries (bland)and stews with chips. We felt a little let down by the on board repetitiveness of the entertainment and the food (although it was good) was also very repetitive, I felt as though we where on a "Butlins" holiday with the "Red Coats" doing all the entertaining! Given that this was a no frills cruise, I have to say that in general it was good value. However for the sake of a little adjustment it could be excellant.
I would also like to point out that the ship missed two stop out of 10. There was a mixed message given for this, I could see that the sea was abit rough for the Catalina Island, however at Ochio Rios there seemed no reason other than the ship was not capable of docking in what seemed to be a mild swell and a bit of wind. The entertainment is very poor (although it does have its high spots - the theatre lighting was great as was the lead female singer in the theatre group) and suffers from mixing the role of retail and events director.
