This was our fist time cruising and was a little concerned from some of the comments we received beforehand about it being 'too' informal. However, we had a fantastic time. You could dress up if you wanted (we did), you could eat when you wanted, do as much or as little as you wanted - it's all about you. We chose to take part in the excursions at every port and we are so glad we did, as these were excellent value for money and very well arranged. We ate in The Bistro once and the food was to di ...

Went on the Ocean Village I to the carribean over easter for two weeks, the worst holiday i have ever had !! Ended up in hospital suffering with a very severe illness - have since found out was because of the ongoing water trouble onboard ship the whole fortnight. Had a dreadful haircut in the spa hair salon.

the ocean village ship was clean, spacious and the staff were friendly, helpful and worked hard to please. i thought that the food was lovely and didnt feel the need to spend extra money in la luna or the bistro. the week could be as relaxing or as hectic as you wanted.

We have 3 weeks to go before our cruise on Ocean Village starts. Already we regret booking it. We booked early for a special anniversary and have since discovered that the cruise has since been sold for £1,000 less than we paid. Also, we booked a specific cabin and our booking confirmation confirms this. Now 3 weeks before we leave our cabin has been changed. Ocean Village say they can do nothing about it. They changed it, why can't they change it back.

Just come down to earth from Ocean Village 2 Caribbean Cruise Jan 21/09 and cannot speak highly enough of my First Cruise, regardless of some of the less than flattering reviews I have read I found my own experience one that has got me ready for my next one. our flight with Thomsonfly was infinitely better than I had expected possibly due to the extra leg room the plane had I think it was an updated version First Choice Holidays flight, as other reviewers comment the food is to die for, far bet ...

Ocean Village Two, Excellent Caribbean Cruise
We have just returned from an AMAZING 2 week Caribbean cruise aboard Ocean Village two. We have absolutely NO faults with the ship, service, staff, entertainers, cabins, etc. This was a most memorable cruise you could ever hope to go on.
The ship has a casual feel to it. No need to dress formally for dining etc. The cabins were large, spacious, with plenty of storage space. In the main cabin there are 2 sets of 4 drawers on the bedside cabinets, ...

Friendly staff on deck. Food very plain, treated like cattle on last day! Had to leave cabin at 0830 while cleaners waited outside from 0700! Very expensive for what it was. Will not recommend Ocean Village to my friends.

We enjoyed our holiday to the Caribbean in January 08 we went on the Ocean Village 2. We could not really fault this ship, lovely cabins well kept, showers and fascilities excellent. The food was great. We only went on trips organised by ourselves, and this can be done very cheaply if when you get o/s you match up with others who want to do the same and see the same sights as yourself. very easy, and we are in our seventies so can't afford tp go on the trips (expensive) from the ship. We had a ...

The main plus point was the friendliness of the staff who really went out there way to help. The cabins were very comfortable with the air conditioning and were cleaned frequently. The showers and wash facilities were good also.

For me overall the entertainment wasn't up to much - cheesy music in my view and karaoke on most nights. There was a casino and cinema on board though I didn't visit often. They did have a comedian on a few nights, I saw one guy and he was really funny - he liked to tak ...

I fell the traditional cruising experience has been lost on the Ocean Village ship.

The personal touch has been lost.
I will not be reccomending this cruise to anyone.

We just came back from a 2 week Caribbean cruise with Ocean Village 2. It was absolutely fantastic. We went with Ocen Village 1 last year, again to the Caribbean and this was just as good if not better. The ship is lovely and clean, the staff are absolutely amazing. They all work so hard to make it a lovely holiday. The food is amazing, all in all it was such a good holiday. We are in our early 40's and we took our 2 daughters 17 and 18 with us on this cruise and they loved it too. The age group ...

Food, service general value for money. Holiday camp bingo type atmosphere.
Some excursions overcharged e.g. swim with Dolphins, pay direct cost per head £40, pay Ocean Village £90! Ocean direct justified their overcharging by saying all Cruise Operators do this and most of their customers would not be prepared to go it alone.

Staff on Ocean village Cruises are extremely polite where ever you went on board. The food in all the restaurants was first class, plenty of things to do, entertainment very professional

On March 15th 2008 our cruise arrived at Belize and we tried to find the fruit market that we were told was worthy of a visit, unfortunately this was a bad experience as we wandered in to a no-go area of Belize. I feel passengers should be told of the no-go areas that exist in ports-of-call.

1st cruise, very pleased, good itinerary, the ships staff were great, food great, the only negatives for me were the flights. Ocean Village should consider using a better airline. On the last night our luggage had to be ready for collection so the day that we flew back we had no spare clothes to change in to. Apart from that I thought Ocean Village offered outstanding value for money, the ship was in great shape for a 20 year old ship, staff are always cleaning and painting. Well recommended.

First and foremost bear in mind that once you are on the ship (presumably this goes for most cruises) that it's a 'target rich' customer environment! You will be pushed to purchase photographs, art, book places in the paid restaurants (Bistro and La Luna) excursions and the like. However, it is your choice you don't have to buy them so prepare for that and you'll be fine.
We have just returned from a two week Caribbean cruise (Sugar and Spice and Coral and Calypso) and thoroughly enjoyed our hol ...

We loved the relaxed atmosphere of this ship, the food was good, hardly any children about although they were very well behaved. The only downside was a large proportion of the passengers doing a "German towel trick" and saving loungers from one day to the next! Some of our relatives have now booked up for a December cruise and we will most certainly be going again, soon hopefully.

We went with OV2 last November 2007, with one week prior to the cruise at the Accra Beach hotel in Barbados, that was fabulous, couldn't fault the hotel or Barbados.
We were then looking forward to the cruise, 'sugar and spice', well it was absolutely awful. If you like queuing this is the place to be, you have to queue for everything, the lifts, food, shops, getting on and off the ship, queuing everywhere.
The entertainment for children was almost non-existent, a swimming pool slightly larger ...

We were in a large party but had a great time,
The ship is spotless through out, there is a fairly good choice of food in restaurants but they seem to cater for people north of the border (uk) so lots of curries (bland)and stews with chips. Some creole food would have been nice in the caribbean and more vegetables with the main courses would have been nice.
Although the atmosphere is casual most people dressed up a for dinner, smart casual, there was the odd idiot dressed in vest with beer bell ...
