“Worst service ever. Do not use.”

I have been with Safe-mail.net for over 15 years. They have devolved into a completely worthless system. No response to customer service emails and only excuses when the system fails, which is often.

“Worst service ever”

I have been with Safe-mail.net for over ten years. It has de-generated into a completely unreliable service with only excuses for answers. It is a shame as at one point it was very good. I suggest hushmail.com.

“No support, poor sending, etc.”

Problems: 1) Bcc field doesn't work for sending Bcc e-mails 2) When sending out test e-mails, my e-mails were never received or were filtered as junk. 3)"Free" 3M storage isn't enough for even one e-mail if it has pictures. 4) Can't view pictures if the e-mails sent to you have pictures. Click on "view HTML" link and nothing happens. 5) When writing customer support, the e-mail bounced back to me because their customer support inbox is FULL! 6) After paying one year's subscription (a mistake), none of these problems were corrected.

“Free service has next to no storage capacity”

I've long had a free Safe-mail address & as far as just straightforward sending & receiving of emails I've had no complaints. Yesterday I left my Safe-mail address on a site where one may request sheet music & was delighted when I received an email from an interested party saying he'd send me the one item of sheet music I'd requested ASAP. Today I checked my Safe-mail address & learned that the sheet music I'd requested had been "bounced back" as it exceeded my quota, & I was advised to remove some of my old emails. I was surprised as I had next to nothing stored but duly removed what little there was before realizing that the bounced document's size was noted as 3.2 mb & the storage quota for Safe-mail (Free) was 3 mb & my email account couldn't possibly intake the document I wished. I realize that Safe-mail has premium services available & that the storage limits of each level of service are noted but I never realized that a single document could exceed the allowed quota on the free service. I've just checked the storage quota for an alternate email address I have - also free - & the storage quota is 2 gb. To get that with Safe-mail I'd have to be a Platinum subscriber paying $240/year! Apart from being browned-off that I was advised to delete old emails when even an empty free Safe-mail account couldn't possibly handle the desired document (I realize it was an auto-generated message), I find it incredible that a single document could "overflow" any email provider free or not. This was the first time I was really counting on my Safe-mail account for something & feel really let down. I've communicated with the party who kindly attempted to send me the document: hopefully he'll be willing to resend to my alternate email address but if he feels enough is enough I really couldn't blame him. So - if you just want a free email service provider to send & receive straight-forward emails then as disenchanted as I am with Safe-mail I'll still recommend them. But if there's a possibility of your ever being sent even a single document I'd look elsewhere.

“Deceptive Advertising and Non-existant Support”

Looking for a secure email provider that supports POP3 or IMAP so I can encrypt my own messages with PGP. But after MULTIPLE attempts to configure my mail client, I get one of two errors every time I try to send a message. Their server responds with either error 550 Mail relay is not supported, or "Sorry, sending messages via this server is available for Premium accounts only. Safe-Mail's website clearly states the POP3, IMAP and SMTP are supported on their free service. Multiple emails to their support address have been totally ignored. If you just want to use their website to send and receive messages, then it should fit your needs. But, if you want to ensure your emails are secure, forget about Safe-mail and find another service.

“Poor System - No Support - Not Recommended”

As others have stated, the system regularly is down. One of my accounts has been inaccessible for 1 week now. Customer Service is non-existent. One of my accounts has not been receiving any mail for 4 weeks. I have raised the issue by email to the support team on several occasions and have had no response what-so-ever. In desperation, I have also emailed the sales team, however the mailbox rejected the mail saying that the sales account was full. From the loss of receiving of emails I have experienced a financial loss, so I am not impressed. Overall, definitely NOT RECOMMENDED. They don't provide service, nor support.

“Stay away from SAFE-MAIL.NET!”

This was once a reliable service. Thair site has been down sporadically for a few weeks now, and in the last few days, has been down 100% of the time.I've been a paying customer for years, and I now rue the day I started an account there. I have hundreds of important emails and attachments stored there, and I'm now seriously questioning whether I'll ever have access to them again. The filters haven't worked for over a year, I contune to get emailers that I marked as SPAM to my INBOX. But, now that seems to be the least of my troubles. Their support is non-existent. They used to be polite and responsive, now in the past year, requests for help or technical problem resolution go unanswered.

“Worst Service Ever - Do Not Use”

I made the mistake of using safe-mail.net for my business, and as a result I have experienced nothing but problems with them. They are down so often that I have missed out on important messages. I was not able to connect with my clients when they needed me the most, which has negatively impacted my business. They have never responded to any of my inquiries. As I am writing this, I cannot access my e-mails again. And this is happening only two days after the last incident. I will never use safe-mail again. Please be warned that it would be an extremely bad decision to utilize them. Find another service. Save yourself time, aggravation, and money. Stay away from them.

“Not Reliable”

Their up time is OK, but they go down so often that it is irritating. And when they go done, their support page goes down too, so you can't reach out to them. Also, they don't put any kind of notice on their main page, which, for some reason, never goes down. Why not put support info on this page. Bottom line, do not use this service if you need access to your email at all times, or be able to know when you will get access. This has happened so often that I now really need to look for another email service.

“Non existent Customer Service!”

I contacted Safe-Mail's customer service on June 24th, requesting information. It is now July 2, and they have yet to even read the email I sent them! I checked my Sent Safe-Mail email folder, and it shows it is still "Unread". It appears there is no one at the Office, so it leads one to believe, are they as secure as they claim?

“Total garbage!”

I had a premium paid account and the email is now down for 5 days! Cannot get on or anything. This happened last year as well and took them 2 days to fix. Now it is down for 5 days and does not look like it will be fixed yet or who knows if my email will every work. For a paid Premium account it is complete BS, they do not care to fix it. Help, does not even reply to your emails! Stay clear of this email provided, and sure as hell do not pay for it as you will just lose your money here!

“Safe-mail: Not safe against losing your mail”

I've used Safe-Mail for a while, and while it's fairly easy to sign up and use and I haven't ever had problems with getting spammed or account highjacks, I'm definitely not satisfied with it. Safe-Mail has one huge problem, and that is that it isn't reliable. Outgoing e-mails get lost. Incoming e-mails get lost. My outgoing mail frequently got labeled as SPAM by other mail providers, no matter the content of the messages, and I found myself having to resort to other methods of communication just to check on whether people got the e-mails or not. This is simply not acceptable for an e-mail provider, and I cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a mail provider on the basis of its purported security, there are better options, that won't lose your messages.

“After 2 years of paying for this service my annoyance...”

After 2 years of paying for this service my annoyance finally reached the point where I changed my email provider (spent 6 hours yesterday updating my contact info everywhere, so believe me when I tell you I had a high threshold for this). I originally signed up for the security, and while safe-mail may provide that, nothing else works properly, and they don't care. I never recieved any help from their customer support despite multiple contact attempts.

Here are the issues I encountered:
- Incoming emails sometimes disappear. Majority of emails sent to me from deltabit.fi and all of the emails from ebay.com never reached me. Probably also others that I don't know about.
- Sometimes Thunderbird doesn't work with safe-mail. Most of the time it does, but sometimes it just can't connect and support offers no help.
- It's slow. Often takes several minutes for emails to reach my inbox. With my new email provider I recieve email practicly instantly.
- There are also bugs in their software. For example, I tried to move all 2010 emails to a folder named "2010". Apparantly their software first copies all of the emails, then deletes the originals. Since my mailbox was 70% full when I started, it quickly became 100% full and stopped. Now I had duplicates of multiple emails, and incoming emails bounced back because my mailbox was full.

There are lots of better email providers around. Safe-mail is not of good value.

I have used Safe-mail for over 5 years now and love the fact that there is no advertizing popping up all over the place and quite fast loading up. I have introduced other people to the site and they are happily using it. My only gripes are the 3mb storage site for free members (me), it has not increased at all ever since the time I joined (over 5yrs ago), even though emails now are commenly using photo attachments as a norm, so my Inbox easily gets full and 'inbox full - mail returned' are now increasingly usual, I have to download attachments even though I don't use the mail every day. I don't think I really want to update my account as there are plenty of other free email clients out there with FAR BIGGER FREE storage spaces, usually with the downside of advertizing being prevalent, but this may have to be a potential option to take up. Also like a previous users comments, I did find the mail filtering system not particularly accurate, I have found some 'filtered' mails not in the proper folder, and apart from being in the 'junk' folder have also found them in the'Inbox' folder. But one gets used to this and it is easily re-directed to the proper folder.
I do hope they increase the 3mb free storage as in this day and age it is very minimal.

I've had a safe-mail account over 5 years and during that time I've never lost an e-mail or had my account high jacked or compromised in any way. It's great having a super secure e-mail service that I can access from any web browser on any computer.

One of the safest email services around. Particularly like the encryption feature. Highly recommend the service. Purchased 150MG and it is well worth it. Haven't really found any yet. Sometimes, lists emails in Junk file that are not junk despite multiple communications from same email address. I don't worry nearly as much now about safety of information.

I've had a SAFemail account/address for over 6 years and I've never had a problem with it. It's never been hacked, hijacked or compromised. You can sign up for free and use it as long as you like but you're limited to 3MB of storage space. More storage space will cost you but the top notch security and service are the same either way.

Guest below: My e-mails have always reached other people's email accounts, and e-mails from them have reached my inbox. The service is very user friendly, and it is easy to send e-mail. The 3MB does bother me, but besides that, overall I would give safe-mail a 4.7/5.
