I had been with Bluebottle for close to 6 years. The occasional outage happens and in all fairness there weren't many. Then 1 day I wake up to a message that my account had been "suspended due to questionable sending activity". I don't do anything with email that would offend anyone nor do I send out any form of bulk mail. So, being curious and annoyed at the same time I contact their service email as requested. At this point any incoming mail was being bounced from my account, so pretty... (read more)

Been with Bluebottle now for three or four years. Put up with the occasional server problems but now they are becoming more frequent. It is ridiculous to offer a service like this when you simply can't rely on it to produce the goods. I am going to leave it because I'm sick and tired of not being able to read my mail and of course, it happens at the most inopportune moments. I also don't like the way there is no automatic save on emails either which I think is essential and which google... (read more)

I've had trouble with bluebottle too...I've had an account since they started and had no problems with them at all for several years. This year, however, it's been lots of problems. I was considering downgrading but there wasn't a way to do it so I e-mailed the support team. They e-mailed me back. Before they did my subscription expired and I could only read my mail. I decided to keep the address since this is the one my family uses for me so I clicked on the link at the top. (This was in... (read more)

I've used a bluebottle account for a number of years now both online and through Outlook and Thunderbird.
After being free for a year or so in 2008 I was forced to start paying; everyone had my address and although somewhat miffed I thought that about 6 quid was a fair charge for access for a year. I paid again in 2009.
It came round to renew about a month ago I reluctantly agreed, again because everyone had this address. My access subsequently failed, I was charged 9.95 USD, their...

I've had a Bluebottle account since they started back in about 2000. Back then the service was free and quite reliable. Since then they've had numerous long outages with no explanation or apology on their website (when their website including their forum hasn't crashed too), though it's been OK for months now.
Their main web page contains tributes from users about the "free" service. It is not free at all, and that is misleading advertising. I'm about to get my annual bill for $9.95 and...

Bluebottle is a great e-mail choice if you do not want to be bothered with spam. No spam in about 2 years that I have had Bluebottle e-mail. Also, very few ads, and you can always minimize the them. Just one odd thing--if I e-mail myself from my Bluebottle account, it allows the e-mail, but says that it is "Not Trusted". This does not really interfere with using it, though. (read more)

NO spam, at all, ever. Well, they have a few down moments and 1-2 slipped by in the last 2 years.
Couldn't be happier, at the moment. $10 a year is pretty cheap for no spam email. And the white/black listing is so easy to take care of with them, the way they have it set up.

Great email service. No problems receiving my mail via Apple's Mail application (Apple's email client)... SO, GREAT FOR APPLE MAC'S! With Apple's Mail application there doesn't seem to be any delays between Mail and Bluebottle. Finally an email service without pop-ups and no spam and works perfectly with my MAC!
Don't know about PC users but MAC users when you are setting up the preferences in Mail SMTP should be port 25, 26 or 587 (some ISP's block port 25). I use 26 with no problems.

I like the no garbage, sell you something ads that cover the pages of other email offers. I do not have to search the page to find a way to get into my mail. I like the fact that bluebottle.com is off the beaten path. When I tell someone my email address, they are curious and investigate for themselves. Not a a lot of dog doo doo on this email site. Love it.
What more can I tell you, bluebottle.com rocks.

Becoming totally unreliable with frequent interruption to service for me, meaning I cannot receive important emails, which are the lifeblood of my business.
I said to think it was a good service, but would no longer recommend Bluebottle. Until they sort their service problems out.

Have been using it for over 4 years now, NEVER got ANY SPAM or anything like that. Pending system is easy to understand: you just check the pending-folder -for exemple once a week- for those new contacts, who do not understand the system and allow the good ones and trash the bad ones.
Now all servers are dead and the fora also...indeed should they have been on different servers, for now no communication is possible and nobody knows what is going on...
The first time in years, these BIG...

Pretty much everything else about it has been a bad experience for me. Often times there are server problems which delay the receipt of emails for weeks at a time in my experience. I'm still receiving emails from March when they had server problems then. Comcast has blocked the entire Blue Bottle server ISP due to spamming as far as I am aware, and now I can't even seem to email between my own accounts! Comcast has a procedure to unblock ISP's, however, as far as I am concerned Blue Bottle... (read more)

Apparently they have now closed the doors for good. POP, SMTP, IMAP - you name it - is down once again, but this time, the outage include their support forum at forums.bluebottle.com and even the website is down.
So much for them stating they were getting their resources in place. Now, there's no way to contact them to get a refund for us paying users as they promised.
Luckily, noone can sign up, as they cannot go to bluebottle.com.

The infrastructure of this service for me personally recently became apparent when bluebottle servers were not accepting emails or delaying them for days at time for well over a week as far as I am concerned. No public announcement of the issue was displayed anywhere on the website, and in the forums, bluebottle representatives refused to discuss what was causing the problem in my opinion. (read more)

The last two weeks of March 2008 have been a disaster for them. I have lost lots of emails as they have simply been undeliverable, to which I find out later when my contacts rewrite asking where my response is in my experience. Also, during this time many contacts report emails to me being returned to them after they have written. When bluebottle is contacted they blame Trusted Delivery Pty Ltd as far as I am concerned. I don't care whom you blame, just fix it! If these down times didn't... (read more)

Strange Spam protection in my opinion, uses pending folder--must disable it in reality.
SMTP server has been down over a week.
Reliability seems to leave something to be desired. Probably ok for a throw away account, but not for your primary account as far as I am aware.
