I like the fact that they are innovating with printed media at the time when printed media are in decline. I like their editorial independence which can be seen by the fact that they publish Robert Fisk. (read more)

Pity really when the Independent first came out it was going to be something different from the usual politically biased newspapers. Sadly they have given up facts for opinion. Often the front page is little more than an editorial. Coverage of Iraq, war on terror, green issues is woeful, driven by political bias. Only recommended for Neanderthals who never think they may be wrong. Makes the Daily Mail look like a beacon of objectivity by comparison. (read more)

I haven't taken the Independent since 1992, when the editorial told us there was no alternative to ERM membership and anything else was folly.
Well, folly won and turned out to be the best thing ever for the British Economy (until Brown wrecked it of course).
But this grey and humourless publication continues to pump out its multi-cultural-metropolitan-espresso drinking, black polar-neck wearing, europhile-marxist propaganda. If you're not one of those leave the rag alone. Thankfully...

Whilst I would agree that political bias is at the centre of every national newspaper, the Independent really takes the proverbial biscuit. It has its opinion set out, and any incoming news is then filtered accordingly. Its aim is only to appeal to its core readership who seem basically to be affluent young trendies who live in Battersea and shop in Farmers Markets. It inherently believes that nothing in this country exists beyond the M25, and its editorials read like a spaced-out... (read more)

It's definitely green-left-leaning. It's also willing to go out on a limb and try new things that others won't. It is a tad biased. The Guardian's probably better than The Independent if you want a paper that's green, left of centre and contains quality journalism. (read more)

The independent was once a fine newspaper with intellegent impartial journalism and backed up with the finest photojournalism in any UK Newspaper. These days it has become a polemical waste of your time. It reads like the Sun newspaper with slightly longer words and an open bias. Perhaps this was a marketing decision in order to appeal to the more "direct-action" among us. (read more)

Sadly the title "The Independant" is misleading. It implies a non-biased, non-political newspaper. In fact, the paper can be quite one-sided, even substituting opinion for fact on the front page. Fine if you have already made up your mind, but not to be relied on if you want an "independant" or objective style of reporting! (read more)

The Independant newspaper provides objective, truthful journalism on the stories that affect all of us. I suppose like all journals, it can never be 100% accurate, but it is by far the best of the UK daily newspapers. (read more)

Agree with this review, there are superior "quality" daily newspapers to choose from than The Independant.
