Good Points: Very intellectual.
Bad Points: Far too politically biased.
General comments: I find the The Guardian newspaper too selective about what news is included so as not to damage the delusion that a liberalized society, with poor standards in every aspect of life, is somehow a better place to live. The comments are also politically angled so as to disguise the truth. Either the reporters and columnists live in ivory towers or they simply refuse to accept the harsh reality of modern society and its declining standards.
For example, it was recently reported that recorded crime is decreasing and it is merely people's perception of crime that is increasing (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/apr/25/ukcrime.police). This is true. However, there was no mention that certain types of crime are no longer recorded, a lot more crime goes unreported and there is a cap on the number of crimes recorded per person.

I like this paper as I would not read any of the tabloids but i think that papers such as The Independent are far to pompous and drag on far too much. This is a paper that prints all the important news you want to read but also other stories of interest and excellent case studies which other papers do not offer.

The Guardian is by far my favourite newspaper. I find their news coverage fair and rational and I suppose that, as I tend to agree with their liberal political bias and I would rather read a newspaper that doesn't enrage me, the Guardian is an obvious choice.
Coupled with this is the fact that their Saturday magazine section is by far the best with loads of detailed and in-depth articles ranging from cheesy Hollywood interviews to more political and topical issues and a whole host of lifesty ...

The guardian is probably the best newspaper around for graduate jobs which is why I found myself buying it whilst still a student. However I've got to be honest, other than that I was not impressed. I'm a Times reader normally and dabble in the tabloids for amusement every now and then. The sport is one of the poorest going, they seem to want to over develop unimportant points whilst ignoring a lot of stories that other papers cover. The news is supposed to be 'what free thinkers welcome' wh ...
