I have thought about getting a break barrel pellet gun for a long time. A few weeks ago I was in a local pawn shop looking for deals, and I saw a Crosman Storm XT, and decided to take a look. It was in great condition, and I decided I'd give it a shot. I got them down to $35.00 and took it home. I started out by checking the scope mounts, and they were a little lose, after tightening them up I grabbed some old pellets I had at the house and tried it out. To my surprise it shot very good... I've purchased airguns that cost upwards of 200 to $300 dollars that didn't live up to its price or aparent quality. But the Crosman Storm XT by far surpasses all of them. The barrel is a break barrel that is riffled for outstanding acuracy the scope was my problem I got a different scope (Multi adjustable varidable zoom scope). My favorite thing about this rifle without a doubt is that this airgun shoots pellets at a screaming 1000 FPS. It's a good gun for pest control and plinking I've... (read more)

for the most part i have liked my xt better than dislike. when i first got it i had lots of fun shooting. It seemed that the scope was already zeroed in. almost every thing i aimed at i hit. if i could put it in my crosshairs then i could hit it(mostly squirrels). That was until i started using alloy (light weight)pellets. It seemed like my gun was uncomfortably louder than i wanted it to be, also it seemed like my accuracy was off. I also noticed the damage of the lighter pellet as opposed... (read more)

Just like most of the other reviews you will read this is a well built gun that shoots great with the right pellet. I myself did not like the scope that came with it cause it was constantly losing center point. So I bought another Center Point scope and i am hitting anything that moves. I suggest using Crosman Premier Hollow Point pellets with this gun for real good accuracy no matter if your target practicing or hunting. I hate the storm xt the scope is horriable it is a little slow but it is accurate but in my opinion a RWS air rife is better than the crosman storm xt.Heck i would say that any other air rife would be better than the crosman storm xt.Well it least the scope would be better on those other brands than the storm xt.Also the .177 caliber is a bite small and slow for a .177 caliber i mean a 22 caliber goes just as fast and hits harder. It doesn't preform good in the feild. (read more)

Sounds like your parallax is off on the scope, adj the front lens to match your shooting distance and it will be much better. You might also want to shim the scope to match the guns barrel so they're parallel. As for power I'd look at the breach seal for sealing and the piston seal for damage. The breach is not very flat and with the stiff seal it has a hard time sealing, especially if the barrel catch is not engaging perfectly which makes the pressure on the seal weaker. I smoothed my breach with a "Ruby Stone Nail File" google it, it's a great tool for filing hard steel or just about anything else. If your piston seal was damaged during factory install and causing lost pressure, you can get a new one from Crosman for $1.15, same with the breach seal. A new main spring might not hurt just in case, they're ~$5, just be sure you get the full powered one from a gun like the Optimus. Once everything is right it should perform really well and they can hit 1000fps with an 8gr pellet.

Bought this gun at Walmart and it seems like a pretty good gun. The scope has to be tightened every few shots, which is easy to do, (all you do is tighten the screws with your fingers) because the power of the gun causes it to come loose often. This is really not a big deal at all. It is a very powerful gun, and I love the hardwood body. This gun is a very good quality gun and could be compared to the Gamo Big Cat, which I am going to get soon. Overall I would give the Crosman Storm xt four... (read more)

Just bought the 1000xt today from Walmart for 109$. I purchased it to keep the buzzards and such from getting into my trash here in SWFL. First shot out the package scared me a little because it is just as powerful as a real gun of the .22 .25 caliber range. Accuracy is dead on, the rifle itself is clearly well built and sturdy. Only downside is cocking, takes a little backbone and firing is surprisingly loud for a pellet gun. That just lets you know its no joke and it can be very dangerous!... (read more)

I purchased the Crosman Storm XT about a month ago from Walmart. I have shot a few hundred rounds through it. I found so far accuracy and dependability the Crosman Premier hollow points are just fine. I spent much more on Gamo ones with small bb's in the front and the only difference I saw was lost velocity. I bought the Storm XT a few weeks ago and I can honestly say it's the best hundred bucks I've ever spent. The scope rings and iron sights aren't great and the trigger is a little spongy, but for $100 the overall quality and value for money is outstanding.
Right out of the box the accuracy isn't fantastic, but bear in mind that this is a spring piston gun which means it'll take around 500 shots to break in and can't be shot like a centerfire rifle. At first I was getting about 5" groups at...

Just got it back from repair for the second time. Had the main spring replaced twice now and a few other small parts. Crosman was excellent in arranging the repairs but twice in a year with maybe 1,300 pellets through it, is not very impressive quality.

Yeah, I agree about claimed accuracy, I think people exaggerate. I'd check the parallax on the scope which is a problem with most all scopes on airguns and will cause mysterious accuracy loss, adj by the front lens to your shooting distance. It's also good to shim the scope to match the barrel so they're parallel. All the screws tight, and hold the gun loosely and the same each time, same grip, same hand placement, everything! The scope should also have some kind of stop to prevent it from sliding backwards, use it.
Sorry about the bad springs, bad luck I guess. It does happen but it's rare. All I can suggest is buying a quality made aftermarket spring, US or Swiss made like Maccari, Vortek, or Titan.
As for "helpless" critters many of us are shooting because they're a problem in the area and destroying things, like gophers, starlings, rabbits, squirrels, racoons, rats (I hate rats!), sparrows, pigeons, and so on. There's also the hunting urge males have, I have it. Put a gun in the hands of a kid and some critter is going to die, we can't help it anymore than a cat can't help doing the same. I hope this helps you and your gun

Sounds like your parallax is off, they're usually set for 100' to 100yards. Adjust it by the front lens down to your shooting distance and it should be golden. It's also good to shim the scope so it matches the barrel, the barrel usually points a bit down. Shimming puts the internal lens in alignment vs cranking the elevation to compensate. Hold the gun the same each time you shoot, same pressure, same hand placement, the easiest way is to hold it lightly as possible. Also be sure all the screws on the gun are tight.

You shouldn't use the alloy pellets, they're virtually useless for most everything but seeing how fast your gun can shoot. That extra noise is the pellet going super sonic and that combined with its light weight will kill accuracy. It's also not good for the gun because the piston slams the breach harder. Try 8.4gr JSB or similar high quality pellets in the mid weight range. As for the barrel catch you should try some grease on it to help it engage, hopefully that will fix it but sometimes they just don't fit quite right and need a little grinding or maybe just a little sanding and polishing to get the right fit.
