Good Points-Superb setting, great food, own orang utan sanctuary.
Bad Points- nearest place Kota Kinabalu not really worth a visit on courtesy bus
Overall--Sensational accomodation -well worth upgrade to Ocean wing recommended by fantastic Audley Travel- huge outdoor bath with electric blinds and daybed on terrace, much quieter pool and dining.Staff wonderful Stayed 4 days as part of 5 week tour. (read more)

I'm usually very critical in my reviews, with 9 out 10 being my usual highest rating (there's always room for improvement), but the Shangri-La Rasa Ria is just excellent. We have travelled to many places in the world, and Malaysia is our favourite destination. This hotel made a potentially very good holiday into the best so far. It is fancy and luxurious enough to feel relaxed and pampered without the snob factor. The hotel has its own (real) rainforest, which both adults and children will... (read more)
