Good Points: It's a great test for your ingenuity to find ways of getting decent reception from it.

Bad Points: It is not a walkman, because you can't walk while it's playing

General comments: I made the mistake of choosing the Sony XDRM1 model based on Sony's reputation in personal stereos, without checking their reviews first. I won't make that mistake again! The sound quality is superb as long as you place the radio at least a metre away from you, preferably hung over a bush, but you can't walk while it's playing as you won't get any reception if you do. If you want a DAB personal stereo with great reception and a long battery life, check out the Pure 1500 Personal DAB Radio.

Portable radio? I don't think so with that battery life.

This is my first DAB portable radio which is on it's way back to Sony because the external power adapter does not work resulting in high battery usage. The sound quality is exceptional, providing the radio is stationary. However, whenever I move with the radio on the reception becomes poor, which is not my idea of how a portable radio should function
The design is great but the poly-carbonate case is easily scratched and I would have expected better quality or at least a case to put the radio i ...

Got a pure digital pocket radio for christmas last year which was fantastic, however due to my own carelessness I dropped and broke it, thus giving my missus the opportunity to provide me with a new dab portable radio.

Sorry Sony but there is just no comparision between the reception I got on my old Pure radio and my new very pretty but digitally challanged XDRM1.

I had to scan a number of times before picking up any stations at all, but the quality of reception is just pathetic. Sony wou ...

It's very hard to be positive about the Sony XDRM1 portable DAB radio because of the hopeless reception. I live in South West London where a scan found 5 stations. Everywhere else in the UK I have tried it hasn't found a single station. I bought the XDRM1 to use when travelling - not to use at home, and it is hopeless. Which Magazine had it as a Best Buy with excellent sound quality, which is fine, but if you can't receive any stations you can't get any sound! If you don't intend to use this dev ...
