I went to see The Sound of Music musical at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton two weeks ago. It was a family outing and the occasion - my Mum's Birthday. Now, I'm not a musical fan, and I wasn't particularly interested in seeing The Sound of Music, but... it was a Birthday, and I went in with an open mind.
I have to say, Connie Fisher was very good indeed. Very professional, fantastic singing voice, and she took to the stage brilliantly and pretty much captivated the audience throughout the show.
In fact, the rest of the cast weren't that bad either. I did find a lot of the story was either missing or amended slightly. I suppose you have to except this when converting a movie to a theatre production.
I did find the length of the show to be quite long, but not painfully long.
One thing to mention, the stage production was fantastic. In fact we all commented on that as we were leaving.
Overall, a feel good factor musical. Didn't blow me away, quite slow in places but a great performance from Connie. Most importantly, my Mum enjoyed it :)

The show was great in terms of singing but all round a big disappointment, I would wait some time before going, there are some big kinks in need of ironing.- Read jbowller's review (90 words)
