“expensive on Brussel-Stuttgart”

check on flight Brussel-Stuttgart the alternatives: Swiss, Lufthansa even KLM are often cheaper via Zurich, Munich or Amsterdam. You easily pay 250 Euro and you even do not get access to the lounch with a frequent traveller card. (read more)

“Brilliant for their prices”

The prices are mostly low and great, you get so much more out of it compared to ryanair and they not only fly from far away from the centre airports. You can really see its a Lufthansa daughter, they have decent design and great sale newsletters where I often catch really cheap flights! Will always prefer Germanwings to other "cheap" airlines! “Ignore the negatives”

Please ignore these negative reviews. I happened to read these reviews and I was extremely worried about flying with them! I flew from London to Germany and then Germany Rome. I then also went did a connecting flight when going back to London, so again RomeGermanyLondon. You can check in online 72 hours before you fly and I did this and was very easy and because I had hand luggage I didn't have to line up at the checkin desk and when I got to Germany I was able to just go straight to the... “Rude staff and delayed flights!”

I work in London and my wife studies in Hannover. So we have to frequently TAKE (there is no option) the Germanwings flight between Stansted and Hannover. Firstly the staff is very rude and at times even uncooperative, especially the German staff on the flights. Secondly, the evening flights are delayed all the time. One hour delay is normal and we have had up to 4 hours of delays very often. We have missed the last train/bus so many times and had to take the very expensive taxis instead.... (read more)

“Extensive delays becomin a regular occurence”

We are regularly travelling between Manchester and Cologne as we have family in both destinations. I have always regarded Germanwings as one of the best lowcost carriers and never had any problems until late last year when we, a family with a two year old, were delayed for the first time - but not for an hour or two, by a whole eight hours without any information on estimated departure etc. As we've not had any bad experience beforehand, we put this down to bad luck, however, we have... Bad ! I wanted to write a advice to Germanwings but there is no email address unless you paid to call them. So no service you can see from this point . I was taking germanwings from Majorca to Dtm.you dont get a seats number with Germanwings. so the first come get the better seats. So we were there very early to get a better seat. When we are in there was a guy blocked three seats for his friend who still in the duty free . He swear and pulled his legs blocked the entrance for not let us in.... (read more)

“I would never fly Germanwings again, the flight was...”

I would never fly Germanwings again, the flight was fine but our original flight was cancelled. We had to wait 8 hours to get our bags back and then just told to find ourselves a hotel and we would be able to claim back the expenses. So far I have written, e mailed and telephoned Germanwings. The call centre cannot help and there is no response from the e mails or letters. The company is a disgrace and I will never fly with it again. The costs we incurred due to our cancelled flight... “We flew with Germanwings from Stansted to Hanover and...”

We flew with Germanwings from Stansted to Hanover and back in June 2010. THe flight out was fine, the one back was delayed by three hours due to technical difficulties. I had a business trip the next morning, and due to the delay had to get a taxi home in order to collect the stuff for my trip and make my next flight. I have written to Germanwings repeatedly, asking for recompense for the taxi journey. I've also chased the emails up with phone calls over the last six months. Responses so... (read more)

Cannot believe that you have rated this company so badly when "the flight out was fine" and the one back was delayed 3 hours due to a techinical fault which is just tough luck, you should always book a flight knowing that something like this may happen (I always book to go 24 hours or more before what I need to get to a place for incase of a delay or cancellations). Every airline on this planet has delayed flights for the same reason! You cannot expect any airline, most certainly a low-cost carrier to provide or pay for alternative transport for every passenger effected or just one individual (all passengers must be treated equally). In my a view a totally invalid disadvantage pointed out here, one that cannot be avoided by any airline. Also remember that safety is every airline's number one priority!

Germanwings is a good airline which offers good value for money and would recommend. We have flown with Germanwings twice, most recently from London-Stansted to Cologne/Bonn and back. Check-in is smooth and fairly quick at most of the airports they use. Boarding could be more organised as the gate number at Cologne/Bonn changed twice. Their aircraft appear to be clean and comfortable with plenty of legroom. The food and drinks sold onboard are overpriced and the quality could be improved.... (read more)

The flight I was on couldn't be faulted: it was punctual, the cabin crew were helpful and friendly, and the plane was spotlessly clean. Food and drink were not included in my ticket, but prices were reasonable. Check-in was also quick and hassle-free. I booked the flight on the internet and made an error in the booking, carelessly booking from Cologne to Edinburgh instead of the other way round. “Germanwings was the only budget airline that had...”

Germanwings was the only budget airline that had flights to Croatia from Germany that suited our itinerary. After a while though, I tried to contact them and realized I could not. None of the phone numbers on the website worked. Second, they altered our flight time pushing it back 6 hours and that was the only flight for that day.
Frankly, the fact that I could not even get in touch with the company is a huge con and makes me wonder if theyre trying to avoid a massive number of complaints. (read more)

Germanwings lost our luggage on our flight from Berlin to Munich. Below is a list of all what went wrong thereafter:
1. After reporting our luggage loss at the airport, customer service told us that only purchases made 48 hours after our report were refundable. Since we arrived on a Friday night and 48 hours later meant Sunday (and stores are closed on Sundays), we bought our basic necessities at the airport knowing that we would never get our refund.

“Good value for money, customer service is good and...”

Good value for money, customer service is good and onboard food is quite nice

I would recommend Germanwings because apart from the seats not being uncomfortable it is a good airline and most flights are on time. (read more)
