Im on the soul souce diet (just 3 shakes a day) around my 5th day i got very bad constipation, even taking laxatives didnt work. I was in so much pain, i felt like i was in labour again BUT this did not stop me, as by the 6th day i had lost 9lb. i spoke to a pharmicts & he said to eat fibre to help move my bowls. I eat a bowl of porridge & oh my gosh, it worked wonders but i want to know if this were to happen agen, eating normal porridge without any sugar & red top milk from supermarket,... (read more)

I'm sorry to hear the Cambridge Weight Plan affected your daughter-in-law in this way. There are several plans available, with a higher calorie content and which allow conventional food also. Your consultant should discuss which plan is suitable for you, taking into account, your lifestyle, how active or inactive your daily work life is etc and make allowances for that. For example, a nurse, policeman wouldn't be recommended to use the very lowest calorie plan as they are more active than someone who sits at a desk all day. I myself lost 3 stone using Cambridge and yes, the first week is the hardest but after that, I never felt so good. The products are full of all the vitamins, minerals and trace elements that the body needs, so most people feel energised and fabulous whilst using it. Im also pleased to say, that with controlled maintenance, the weight has stayed off, 2 years later.

Am also sorry to hear of your daughter in law's difficulties, I hope she is on the mend soon. I wanted to say that I am about to start on this diet and my consultant has already advised me not to go on the first step as it could be too hard for me, but to try the step 2 and see how I feel... I think this is sensible and I hope I will be able to say the same as you Lovetobeslim in a few months time..I am aiming to loose between 2 and 21/2 stone...

“Stick with it!”

Written on: 14/04/2013 by Derryair (1 review written)

Started this diet 14 days ago and the first day was definitely the hardest. Hunger pains kicked in around 5pm. Stick with it. You have to drink the water, if you don't that's when side effects kick in. I have not suffered any side effects yet but again that's down to drinking the water (add some of the berry powder to water). Only thing I have found is I get a very dry mouth but you can chew sugar free gum. It is a hard diet but then I think any diet is hard. I lost 8 and half pound on my... (read more)

Hi, Yes I'm stilling following it....stuck with sole source and today had my 6th weigh in and I've lost a total of 1 stone 11lbs. I'm over the moon. Gone down 2 dress sizes.
It is not easy but then no diet is. I found day 1 the worse! There are days when I get hungry but I just keep drinking water and that seems to take away the pang. The only side effect I've had is a very dry mouth but I think that is the nature of the shakes. I do eat copious amounts of sugar free gum.
As long as you drink the 2 litres of water a day, I've had no hand aches at all. My consultant is good at the beginning she would txt me a couple of times aday...very supportive.
Just stick with it as I've said it is not easy but any diet is hard.
Good Luck and let me know how you get on

Stick with it is the first thing I'd say im on one week in and can notice a major difference not only in my weight but my confidence, make sure you drink plenty of water that helps a lot, and if in the night time you do get hungry just go to bed, everyone said the first few days are the hardest but I found them ok I wouldnt say it was easy but definitely manageable. I'm in for my weight in tonight and can't wait I'd recommend it but again like any diet it's not for everyone. Best of luck I hope you do well x

“Fantastic - for a certain type of person!!”

Written on: 13/01/2013

The Cambridge Weight Plan is GREAT for a certain type of person!! I find having all the decision-making done for me as to what I can eat SUCH a relief! Even cooking for others or being the only one at work who doesn't partake of a birthday cake ("thanks, but I'm on a diet" - people DO understand!) after the first couple of days, doesn't feel like a problem. I am quite strong willed which is fairly essential, although once you're in ketosis, the physical hunger all-but vanishes. This then... (read more)

“Day one so far so good!!! ”

After being rather sceptical I went to meet with a consultant yesterday who was fantastic and really seemed to understand what I am looking achieve I decided to give the Cambridge a go. Initially I thought the shakes and soups would be vile however I have had a banana shake for breakfast - really nice and a chicken and mushroom soup for lunch (tastes like any normal sachet mix that you add hot water to) so all in all not too bad. After giving birth to my son in 2010 my weight ballooned to 16st 3lb I had always been big but it was seeing myself in the pictures at my sisters wedding that I thought I have to do something about it, so I contacted my local consultant. I started CD in June 2011 weighing in at 16.6st I done the SS and found it ok no real side effects, the odd headache maybe. I found myself really sticking to it although drinking the vast amounts of water was a no-go I would only manage 2litres at the most.... (read more)

Written on: 17/11/2012

Having tried every diet under the sun I thought I'd give CD a try after reading an article about it. In the grand scheme of things I haven't got a huge amount of weight to loose, 2 stones. My consultant recommended the third stage, with 3 CD products & a high protein dinner, chosen from a list of foods from your booklet. There was no way I wasn't going to follow the plan wholeheartedly as I'm determined to loose this weight. First week, made sure I drank lots of water before & after having... (read more)

Written on: 09/07/2012 by NSLK

Okay, so the idea of being able to loose as much as 8pounds in one week got me hook line and sinker with the Cambridge Diet. Today is my first day of trying the diet and for breakfast I started with the Maple and Pecan flavour Porridge - it smelt lovely in the microwave BUT when I took it out to stir the armomas changed for the worse, still I tried it. I took one spoonfull and then left the rest on the kitchen side, 'Id rather be hungry than eat that' are my thoughts. Anyway putting this... (read more)

oh the very same has just happened to me. i started it yesterday morning with the very same maple and pecan porridge thinkng it would be lovely cos it did smell it, i was heaving with every mouthful and left half of it. at lunchtime i tried the cappucino shake and just managed to swallow it down. I dreaded the next shake so much and at this point felt very upset as I had just laid out £42 on shakes for the week. I don't know whether to carry on if all the shakes are inedible. I thought they would be easy and enjoyable but i am sure i won't find one i like! I felt miserable all da worrying about whether i could continue so am waiting to speak to my friend who lost at least 3 stone on this plan to see how she managed.

I absolutely LOVE the vanilla cream shake. It sounds from your comments, and the one from Keeleywest's that you were looking for "something so yummy you would not think you were dieting," so went for the fancier flavors. But this vanilla cream tastes, my 10-year-old granddaughter says, "like melted ice cream.

It won't work as well. Firstly you won't get into ketosis by eating Heinz soup and milkshakes and secondly the food packs from Cambridge are nutritionally complete so you know you are getting all your nutrients. As long as you can eat them of course. I really like the shakes, especially chocolate and fruits of the forest but it's obviously all down to personal taste

“Cambridge Weight Plan - Step 1 SS+”

Written on: 28/06/2012 by BubblesCefalo

I started the Cambridge Diet on 18th June 12 and weighed a whopping 17st 12. I thought I would find the diet really hard seen as I was drinking at least a litre of sugar free red bull and at least a 2 litre bottle of Pepsi Max a day, but to my surprise I didn’t have a problem with drinking 4 to 5 litres of water a day instead. Don’t get me wrong I did suffer with a few headaches the first couple of days but after that I was okay. I do find that every 3 days I need to have an extra early... (read more)

I staretd sole source 9 weeks ago and have lost 3 stone. The diet is very easy to follow as you only eat/drink 3 cambridge diet products a day. My counsellor has been amazing and so so supportive which has made a massive difference. You need to really want to loose weight and learn about your eating habbits to do this diet. Thanks for the good wishes!! I'm only 3 days in and determined to succeed. Although I think that the porridge has a slight aftertaste of sweetener, I love it and am surprised that I have enjoyed the shakes and soups that I have tried. I have experienced hunger pangs, as I would normally before a meal, but find that the Cambridge products are very satisfying. To date, I have nothing negative to say about this diet. The only extra thing that you need is willpower. After reading about some of the amazing results achieved, I am so inspired . I am keeping a daily diary, just for myself, so that I stay focused and will be able to record my progress. I also wish that I had done this years ago and am already thinking about becoming a counsellor myself. I'll let you know how I get on!!

Well done for starting and welcome to day 1. I've lost a total of 5 stone 10 pounds and have been at my target weight since Christmas. Now I'm learning to maintain which is a battle in itself but so far i've never gone further than 4 pounds up on my target weight. I've recently joined the gym and can now run 6k in 40 mins something I could NEVER have imagined doing prior to CD. I see my consultant as and when i want to , which is usually every fortnight and I can honestly say I have never felt soooooooo good. My advice is to drink as much water as you can manage, the first few days are tough ( i got up 7/8 times a night to wee) but BELIEVE me your body soon gets used to it and by day 5 I felt fantastic. I wish you so much luck and encouragement.

The diet is very easy to follow, no calories, carbs, fat, etc counting but you will definitely need willpower! I was (and still am) quite surprised that I wasn't too hungry. I think it's a combination of drinking lots more water and being in Ketosis that staves off the hunger pangs (although not completely). My starting weight was 17st 2lb. For me personally this is by far the best diet I have ever done. I just wish that I had found this 20 years ago. I lost a little over 2 1/2 stone in 6 weeks.
I put someone on it who was going on vacation in 3 weeks and wanted to lose some weight. She lost 1 1/2 stone in a little over 2 weeks and wanted to buy more to take on her vacation ... we fought about it, because I wanted her to enjoy her vacation and NOT diet.
I finally relented and let her get a box of bars.
I told her to eat a spoonful of anything she wanted.
She lost 2 more lbs on her vacation!!
How about that!

i'm not a big fan of the make yourself shakes, they are a bit powdery and don't like the 15 minute limit to drink it in. I really like the chocolate and banana ready made boxes. I don't use soups. I did cd for my wedding and it worked. Remember to drink plenty of water. Good luck!

Hi, I am about to start the Cambridge Diet. After trying Slimmers World, Weight Watchers, Cabbage soup etc etc. nothing works. A friend lost load of weight with cambridge so am finally pulling in the reigns and taking control. The only concern i have is the cost, being a single mum with 2 kids it will be a struggle, but as I won't be buying as much food each week doing the food shop I am hoping it will balance out. I am 5'7" and am almost 18 stone, so have a long way to go. Good luck to everyone on cambridge, especially us newbys!!

Hi, I have just started week 3, and have lost 13lbs, really pleased....I found the "cappachino and chocolate" shakes the best....The soups..."mushroom...vegetable....leek/potato"......The porridge (is like baby food)!! but I found "pecan and cinnamon" ok.....I have just introduced the "bars" into my diet....So now I have a Shake for breakfast....A Bar for lunch...A soup for Tea.....Hope this has been helpful...Good luck Xx

Buy a whisk (ideally electronic) Supermarkets normally do own brand ones for £5 to £10 like a hand blender - these make the shakes mix up so much better, therefore so much more enjoyable. I lived off just Strawberry and Banana shakes whilst on plan in 2010 as they were 2 flavours I enjoyed instead of forcing down!

“Fastest loss I have ever had on a diet !”

Written on: 05/04/2012

I am on day 19 of Cambridge and have lost around a stone and a half ! I find the products great and easy to prepare. Ive not had the bars as of yet but look forward to those next week. I am not hungry on the plan but do think about food although I am yet to cave in as I have stuck so far 100% to the SS plan. My 1st week loss was 11lb, 2nd week was 5lb and not had my official weigh in yet for this week. On average people lose 1stone each month which is amazing ! Value for money I have said... (read more)

Hello :)

I am glad to hear the cambridge is working for you. I am up to day 3 and have been quite hungry at the moment .. tummy keeps growling. I do beleive that you do not get hunger pains because you are taking 4 shakes plus one meal.. I am on step 1 with only 3 shakes a day which is why you may be feeling better!

good luck

Hi really great to read your story I am going to be a bride next year too and alot of weight to loose also, I am on day 3 and really finding it hard now. I am on 4 shakes a day but not eating meals or anything seems like your plan would work better for me I need to loose about 7 stone.. There is no way I am going to be a fat bride I have to do it but I really want some food.
I have not measured myself or weighed myself wish I could have a cheeky look.
would be great to have a diet buddy

hi all, well im nearing the end of my cambridge adventure, i am 3 pounds away from 4 stone loss, being on the diet has made me realise how much food i actualy "need" as opposed to want , i think a little time away from your unhealthy eating habits is a good way to reflect. The reason i am ending the plan is because i want to do it while im in control and the way im going to do it is low carb, as soon as i eat bread or pasta i baloon. all i can do is try out my theory.Cambridge is a brilliant head start, but life goes on and as much as i love those yummy shakes and soups i also crave normality without all the baddies this time, just to recap i have lost the equivalent of " 1 pound per day, for the past 50 days" not too shabby.and this was on step 2, 3 shakes and a meal. so blend your shakes with ice, add tobasco or worcester sauce to your spicy tomato, chicken and mushroom soup and focus on your goal, remember its not forever, and use your time to plan your next step. And all you brides to be , good luck, we deserve it : ) xx

Hi I am on day 14 and to date I have lost 10lb. It does get easier, try drinking your milkshakes through a straw and mix them up with ice in a blender. Also drink your water through a straw. My friend lost 6.5 stone on this diet in 6 months and kept it off so that inspires me. Just try keep busy. I got 4 stone to lose. If I am hungry. I get a early night. I craved savoury and have found that mushroom soup and potatoes. And leek soup are okay by adding pepper and have a soup for my dinner every day. Stay focused and remember why you are doing this? Your health, confidence, happiness, and other important reasons you may have. Keep going your doing brilliant...

I started this diet just over a week ago (sole source), lost 7 lbs in the 1st week and I'm expecting at least another 4lbs this week. It is a little costly but to be fair, I would easily spend £40 a week on diet food, you just notice it cos it's one payment rather than spread out. I felt hungry the first few days then on the third day I woke up really full of energy and not hungry at all. I won't say I've had no hunger pangs and I still smell food cooking and long to eat it, but I stuck... (read more)

“Cambrige diet - first impressions”

This is my 5th day, I have around 60Kg to lose. Have been a yo-yo during th past 60 years - lose 50, put on 55, lose 60, put on 60. For almost 2 years I have been going to a nutritionist to lose weight which focusses on 'fixing' my muscle to fix my metabolism. I managed to lose 17kg & then got sick, the medication I took made me put all the weight back on! Now I am back to square one, tried for a couple of months the 'healthy' but I am fed up of eating healthy, exercising TWO times a day and... (read more)

You can only go into ketosis if you do it sole source.
I did it sole source for a few days until that happened. Once it happened I added a piece of fruit a day and either a salad or steamed herbed veggies.

This is a tough diet I'll agree ... but the results are so fast .... and more importantly safe (you DO NOT lose lean muscle --- your skin shrinks to fit your body) This doesn't happen with the stomach band operation .... you will need to have a further operation to remove all of your hanging skin.

According to the book this is not sole source bur sole source plus. Does not inspire confidence at the moment. Did nt expect to pay £53.20 for 28 milkshakes thought it would be a bit cheaper.
