It's so convenient, if you're just looking for something small to throw in your pocket. Great for bringing on the bus, or out for a run. Batter is not brilliant on it, but you learn to live with it I suppose. It's not the only one I have, but it's a handy little one to keep all the same. (read more)

I hated the Ipod Mini beacuse the thing froze on me many times. Now it does not work at all, so it stays in my house untouched. I did not like how the screen froze and the good thing was that I could hold all my songs that came from my CD. I did like some of it the games were ok but took up lots of battery. Now I have a new Ipod the new Nano and it works wonders, color screen and more better games and video storage too. (read more)

I really do love the iPod series and this has got to be the best iPod Apple have ever made.
The battery life is brilliant, mine lasts about 13 hours now after owning it for 2 years it used to be 18 but I'm considering changing the battery soon anyway,So I'm going to get a few years out of this!
Generally, I do like the iPod Mini more than my iPod Video even though it's old!

I have a silver iPod Mini which i bought off eBay about 6 months ago now and the previous owner had it for at least 18 months before me and its still in a great in great condition!
I have bought a separate case for it to ensure minimal scratching as I use it for work, the gym and carrying around in my bag so it does get bashed around quite a bit but this doesn't deter the sound quality in the slightest and the memory is brilliant. I've had this iPod since sept 2005 and it gave me great use, I had encounted battery issues but it was fixed quickly by an iPod updater on the apple site that you can get free. I find it very sturdy to the point that my horse stood on it and it didn't even get damaged apart from a teeny nick.
Shame apple discontinued this, its an advantage for those who want small but decent music players that wont break easily as the nano. My mom's buying this off me as I'm purchasing an 30gb video soon :D

The iPod mini is the best selling iPod in the market. Too bad it got discountinued. Its sound is excellent, many features, 4 GB memory (1000 songs), uses iTunes which is a very good software. It's also very reliable, which means it doesn't break for no reason. Mine is in excellent condition with not one problem and no scratches at all.
People say that the battery is low. But I think 7 hours is enough. It doesn't have a color screen but who cares about the color it's the music that's...

I've had this little gem for over a year now and it has never let me down yet. I had read reports that iPods could be unreliable and prone to breaking but in my experience that has not been the case. In spite of frequent use my iPod is as reliable as the day I bought it. The sound quality is excellent with the supplied headphones and is even better with the Sennheiser set I bought. The Apple iPod Mini is a great MP3 player for anyone. I found that they are very durable, and mine did not break. I encountered no problems with it at all, which is why I was very surprised when I saw how many people reviewed it negatively and had problems with it. Granted, the headphones it comes with do deteriorate after a little while, but you can use any headphones with the iPod Mini.
An iPod Mini is especially great for someone who wants an iPod but doesn't want to spend a whole bunch...

WARNING: THIS IPOD WILL SELF-DESTRUCT IN 5 SECONDS. When it was new it only lasted a few hours but now it will only switch on for a few seconds unless it is plugged into a charger. And a replacement battery is at least £50! I honestly think they time them to self destruct after their warranty has run out so you are forced to buy a new product. (read more)

i disagree. i have had my mini for over a year and it is working just fine this day. you must have mistreated it in some way or dropped it or something.

OK well maybe I was a little harsh saying that ipod minis are programmed to self-destruct; I had just expected mine to last a little longer that's all. I would like to point out however that just because yours is still working fine after one year it doesn't mean they all are. Equally just because mine no longer works doesnt mean they all wont work after one year or so. Total battery life depends on how many times the battery is recharged so all ipod batteries can only take a certain number of charges. I can assure you that I cared for my ipod very well!

I've had an iPod Mini for over a year now, and it is the worst purchase I have ever made. Mine is now sitting on my shelf broken. Why? It just decided to pack in for no reason, just after my 1 year warranty ran out. How convenient! Apple say I need a new battery which I'll have to fork out £40 for. I have had an iPod Mini MP3 player since they were released on the market. Although the storage capacity is not as high as some of the other iPod's, it is definitely worth the sacrifice for the smaller size of the Mini. (read more)

My ipod does not stay charged for more than a couple of hours - so take it for a day out and I can listen to it on the way out, but not on the way back. I do a lot of long-haul flying (main reason I bought it) and I can only get a couple of hours out of it in-flight. Sent it to be fixed, but it doesn't seem any better now I have it back. (read more)

I was originally bought the Apple iPod Mini MP3 player for my birthday back in 2004. At first it was brilliant, but after I put more than 500 songs on it, it started jamming up and freezing, which is bad for a product which costs £179.99.
Then there's the rubbish battery life!! I sent it back to Apple and complained, but all they did was put on the new firmware for a Mac computer. I had to then restore my iPod back to the factory settings.

The Apple iPod Mini MP3 player is fantastic!! It's not too big and not too small; it's just perfect!! The sound is fantastic; especially on big speakers, and it's very easy to find your music on this incredible piece of technology.
5***** stars! Well worth the money!!
A little note: I have had the iPod Nano for 2 days and it is already scratched too pieces, so I wouldn't recommend the Nano!!

If you are looking to buy an mp3 player whatever you do don't get a mini ipod!! I got one for my birthday 2 months ago and am about to take it back for the third time. When I connect it to my computer itunes doesn't recognise that it has come up so I can't put any music on it. Also the headphones are of a very poor quality and go all fuzzy after about 2 weeks. I have owned a Mini iPod for a year now, and I've had to send it back 5 times. The headphones are useless (they just break), and the battery is terrible. Although it is lightweight, and the customer service is great.
I do recommend it to others, but before you decide to buy one, compare it to other MP3 players!

I bought an Apple iPod Mini in the USA immediately after its launch in September 2004. Due to Prolonged use and travelling in India, an amount of dust got inside it.
As the product was still under warranty, I called their Service Centre, and was told that the product could not be serviced as it is a MOULDED product. So just throw it away, and buy a new one if it stops working due to dust.

I just got my Apple iPod Mini today and I have been absolutely thrilled with it so far. Its so cute! Its the best thing I have ever bought. Its really clever. You just plug it in and add iTunes automatically which uploads all the songs in your libary! It has excellent sound quality and you can even play games on it while you listen to songs. Day 2 I did encounter a problem. I switched it on and it just displayed a pic of a folder and an exclamation mark so I plugged it into my pc and when i took it back out it started working. Fingers crossed it wont happen again.=)

Having owned my Apple iPod Mini for over a month now, I can easily say it's one of the coolest players out there. It has a great user interface, great battey life, and the build quality is good too. But it's size and feel makes you very wary about taking it out in the big bad world. I was almost scared to take it out for if it got scratched or stolen. So I would recommend if you buy one to buy an "iSkin mini" as it protects the whole iPod, including the screen. Go Buy an iPod Mini! (read more)

ok, you have to send it in to them saying that theres a problem with the battery, and that you want it replaced. if they still wont do it, then take it to the apple store and prove it to them. let them charge it and then show them that it dies in 15 minutes.

<br>the thing is with the Li-Ion batteries in the ipod, their rated to 500 charge cycles. thats a complete depletion then a full recharge. if your battery dies after one month, then you did some very poor reading of the manual, and didnt notice all the big bold warnings about proper battery use.

<br>the ipod mini is fine, its your error that caused this. dont blame it on apple.

I bought an iPod mini a few months ago and have encountered exactly the same problem. I am well aware of how to care for a Li-On battery correctly as I read the manual inside out before touching my iPod simply because I had heard so many horror stories, but still my iPod won't hold a charge. I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they replaced it, which meant I lost all my files.

I got my iPod Mini for Christmas 2004 and its been great. I have over 500 songs on it but I have only used 200mb, I bought an optional Apple compressor. This means each song takes up roughly 100kb each and still has the same quality. I did however drop it from desk height the other day onto a tiled floor and it chipped the metal front. It still works fine though but I wouldn't recommend dropping it as it is very fragile. (read more)

The iPod Mini has been a sensation in the U.S.
The small colorful mp3 player has definitely caught many peoples eyes. The Apple name assures a quailty product with a long life span. But you have to use this product right as in not dropping it (which is bad in my book beacuse I'm very clumsy), banging on it, or getting it wet. But the iPod Mini is very expensive for most people. But the songs on iTunes are expensive. But the iPod Mini is a very good product overall and I would recommend it.

Having lost my MZ N10 minidisc during a night out, I was very pleased when my wife bought me an Ipod Mini for my birthday. I had been looking forward to buying one as I hadn't heard bad things about it. I am extremely pleased with my iPod and haven't experienced any of the problems the other reviewers are going on about. The day finally came, early January 2005. My iPod came, and I was anxious to open it and get it running. I had previously owned the 5GB First Generation iPod, which was really good. Christmas day! I opened my box for iPod mini and couldn't wait to get started. I installed iTunes on my computer and tried to turn on my iPod mini...no response. It would not turn on, and would not charge. After getting EXTREMELY annoyed I decided to box it up and leave it forever. The next morning I again attempted to charge it, and there was life! i bought a mini ipod and guess what... yep it wouldnt work and still doesnt and i got so annoyed i was throwing every thing. i would certainly NOT reccomend a mini ipod.

The ipod mini is a very good mp3 player. I would have bought the new iPod model but my money is a little short. And really, who needs 20 GBs of music. The only people that complain about the small harddrive are geeks and losers, and they have no taste in music at all. So if your just a regular person that wants something more from an mp3 player but not a loser who tries and point out every bad detail then get the ipod mini. Also, so small. Amazing! (read more)
