Just seen my phone bill!! Over £5 in call charges in two phone calls to buy my new car insurance from AXA. What a way to treat new customers!! “An utter shambles”

I wish I'd read these other reviews. I had the misfortune to have a car policy with them. They sit on claims, don't reply to emails when I provide the info they ask for and are unable to accept any customer complaint 'cos I was insured through a broker. Best of all no-one at AXA will accept a formal complaint from me as "I'm not insured direct". Yet its their claims dept who is in corresponence with me and it is they who are sitting on it. “Never had a problem”

I can only speak from my own experience. I was with Axa for 3 years and have only changed because I had a cheaper quote this year. I found them easy to contact and when I had a claim it was resolved quickly and efficiently. Firstly if you make a claim they sub out all the admin and assessment to Swift cover so you are paying Axa rates for budget customer care, if your car is newish and still under the manufacturers warranty they take an absolute age to give approval if you want to use an approved body shop instead of their own allocated repairer. When they leave you on hold for half an hour at a time during one of the dozens and dozens of calls you will have to make on premium rate numbers they play the one same… Read Full Review

Please avoid this company at all costs. I was involved in a non fault accident which was captured on cctv 14 months ago and yet Axa still haven't resolved my case. To date I am approximately £900 out of pocket due to their incompetency which includes my having to pay £400 excess, hiring a car (despite them providing me with a hire car for 2 weeks) due to the garage they sent the car to for repairs being notorious for being slow at completing repairs and 2 years of paying excess premiums. I have just made the terrible mistake of taking out car insurance with AXA and I'm just out of my 14 days cooling off period, however I'm cancelling my policy anyway. They say you have to make any modifications to your policy via their website, otherwise, if you have to do it by phone, they charge you a £30 admin fee. I'm having a similar experience to another reviewer here. It seems that no progress is made until I phone Axa for an update. I've never been able to contact my 'dedicated claims handler' since first reporting the accident and he has never contacted me. Axa never keep me informed as to what is happening and are treating me as though I was at fault. They have made an upsetting and stressful situation worse… Read Full Review

“Review as a third party”

My wife was hit from behind by a young man insured with Axa at 3pm on a Sunday. At 1030 on the Monday morning I had a phone call from Axa accepting responsibility for the incident and in this phone call they arranged for my damaged car to be collected by a very reputable repairer and arranged a like for like hire car from Enterprise All this and I am not even insured with them. AXA's CONTINUED LIES, AND SUBSEQUENT COURT ACTION. AXA unlawfully debited my bank account with an insurance renewal, without my authority. They state they sent in total 4 emails and one SMS. My SMS phone log does not show their message received at all. I also never received any emails frOm them. I was tempted by the cheap policies and insured 2 cars and my house with AXA. Big mistake!! I had to make my first ever claim on my car policy after a driver almost hit me head on. From day one the whole experience has been dreadful and very stressful at times. Please do not take a policy with Axa, read the reviews and take notice , I wouldn't have believed all the bad reviews , but what I have read over and over again is all true. Dont be fooled by the one star ive had to give, they are simply the worst excuse for an insurance company I have ever encountered. I wont bore you with the details but god help you if you need to make a claim - its really that bad. We had a car crash into us approximately 10 weeks ago. “Truly disgusting company, appalling structure, STAY AWAY!”

After getting insured with said company, I was contacted a week later letting me know that I am now too young to be insured and will be charged a £125 admin fee to cancel my insurance. After trying to fight for the admin fee to not be taken out as it was there mistake, they cancelled all communication with me, deleted my account and have had no further contact with me.
