Read carefully their term and conditions. It is a minefield of additional costs that you will only uncover when something 'outside the basic terms' happens. They are using the comparison website to draw people in which on the face of it seems good value insurance costs BUT BEWARE this is just a disguise and they will fleece you at every chance they get. Buyers of insurance from AXA need to be very aware that your insurance will renew automatically each year unless you 'opt out' and specifically request 'manual renewal' I found this out the hard way after getting an automatic renewal which was approximately £75 above the average insurance rate being quoted by at least 10 other providers. Fortunately for me when AXA had tried to take payment they had been unsuccessful as I had switched card providers since buying insurance last year. They... (read more)

Whilst I was waiting at traffic lights, a car that was being pursued by the police smashed into my car. This, you might think, would be a clear cut "no fault" case, but AXA have logged this as a claim in which I am at fault. Nothing I say will change their view. I have provided them with eye witness statements, CCTV evidence and a report made by the police into the incident. The repairs to my car were not particularly serious, and I wish, wish, WISH that I had never bothered to make a claim.... (read more)

We took car insurance with Axa - when it cam to making a claim (our first ever in 20 years of driving) they found a technicality to avoid paying out, something I fear they do all too often (see BBC's "Rip-Off Britain" dated 7/1/2013). They also agreed to return our premium and then quite literally made up a 3rd party claim in order to retain it. We are currently dealing with this issue through the ombudsman, but if unsuccessful, our dealings with Axa will have cost us somewhere in the... (read more)

I've had a terrible experience with this insurance company. I bought used car because I found great deal and I didn't have enough money to buy the new one. I wanted to have it insured just in case. And then it came. Horrible car crash. It wasn't my fault but insurance company wasn't able to finance repair of my car. There is always something why they can't pay you. Patchypaint.........AXA are the pits. My Aixam car was insured with them for 6 years with no claims whatsoever and apparantly they decided that Aixam cars were too much trouble for them for some reason and they cancelled the insurance.

They didn't inform me -- that was left to my broker P. F. Spare -- who are the tops -- and who telephoned me immediately and put me with another company at a more advantageous price and conditions. Were it not for P. F. Spare being 'on the ball', I would have been driving uninsured!!

The similar situation happened to me, only I did cancel my insurance on time and meanwhile I also moved the house ( so my address became different as on my previous insurance cert).
I did not use my car for several months but after all i decided to insure it again, so i called different companies to check the quotes offered to me.
So I went to Axa to find out how much would they quote me, the quote was waayy to expensive ( I did had claim with Axa and i was expecting the rise but not as big).
Anyway, i said to the customer service representative that the quote was too high for me and went home.
The funniest thing happened after few months. I received FINAL WARNING letter from Axa that if i am not going to pay for my insurance, they will take me to court. This letter was sent sent to my new address ( so they took it when i was making a quote)
When I arrived to the AXA for explanations, they explained me that they have approved my quote ( even i did not agree for it, and did not sign any contracts or so) and that they have sent it to my OLD address as well as all the letters.
So i asked them , how come I did not receive this insurance disk ( even i did not want it) and all the previous warnings, BUT the FINAL WARNING came straight to my new address. No one could explain what exactly happened and why i was forced to pay for this insurance even i did not need it.
