I took out car insurance with Admiral. They have automatic renewal " for my convenience". I chose not to review with them. I changed credit cards, and assumed that since their attempt to collect payment failed, my policy would lapse. This was a false assumption. Unfortunately, your insurance doesn't cover you for wear and tear or mechanical failure. It only covers you in the even of a road traffic accident, fire or theft. The fire was caused due to wear and tear and as such your insurance company doesnt have to cover it.
I'm going to be blatant and rude on this one but why should your insurers foot the bill that is down to wear and tear and not caused as the result of a car accident??? And do you even know what your car insurance is for - I suggest checking your policy

It’s not nice to have your car stolen but at least you were lucky enough to have them recovered. I don't understand why you are complaining though - as an insurance company they would have a right to investigate something if they felt it was potentially not related. How does Admiral know whether the gearbox was burnt out or not before it was stolen?
Every insurance company has the right to investigate a claim and confirm they are 100% happy to proceed. I’m sure if you were the insurer you wouldn't pay out for something that you were not sure if it was related or not.
I'm also fed up of people moaning and whinging about how much premium they have paid to an insurer - you made the decision to proceed with the policy, you agreed to the premium and just because you pay £4000 for two premium cars you think you should be treated like Gods? Come down off your pedestal for a second and smell the fresh air - your insurance company are repairing the vehicles.
I'm sure you want the cars back repaired in full and rather than a rushed repair carried out. Oh and by the way, I would definitely recommend you use spell check once in a while or even better learn how to spell.

Unfortunately speed does not constitute negligence and the majority of liability decisions are made based upon the highway code and existing case laws. I totally agree with this. I've been with Admiral for 4 years now with a multi-car insurance and for the last 3 years the renewal quote has been some £400 higher than the price I get quoted online for individual quotes on each car. From Admiral... I call up, or indeed get called by them sometimes asking about the quote, to which they then say they don't understand why the renewal was so high... Hmm, I think I do. Anyway, they have always reduced the price to less than quoted online, but I have vowed that if this happens again this year I will not be renewing with them as I don't like being taken for a fool.
To be honest though, since I noticed this a few years ago, I have done a similar search online for house insurance, gas, electricity etc. and always find a better deal, even with the same company. When you call them to ask why, they will come up with something, like "that was the best deal at the time" or they "couldn't predict changes in the market, so had estimated the price". So it is not just Admiral doing this. You just have to put some work in to save some money.

Dear Customer,
Im sure It's really frustrating if you have called before the renewals and its not been cancelled and you are getting charged for it. And even if the Admiral didn't cancel the policy as of renewals and you have proof that you are insured elsewhere from the renewals date or the policy expiry date, they shouldn't be charging you even a single penny.
But if you are insured elsewhere (say after 10 days of your renewals or anytime within the first 14 days) they have the rights to charge you £22.50 and anytime more than that its calculated on a proratebasis + £47.50 + £5 for any additional product you may have taken out, all this is applicable provided you there is no claims on the policy.
As per RTA most of the insurance company follow or reserve the right to renew policies automatically should they not receive a clear instruction from a policyholder to lapse or cancel their insurance prior to the renewal date.
And regarding the proof of no claim bonus, Just to let you know that any insurance company can call the previous insurance company and confirm the proof of no claim verbally, this way you save time as well as the trouble of sending it through post. Just provide your new insurance company with your old policy no. and they can confirm your details and get the no claims bonus yrs confirmed.
Im sorry that your issue is not yet been resolved, I hope it gets resolved soon.
Cheers!!

Dear Sir,
I wouldn't comment on the charges that comes up because it depends on what are the changes that you are making and the underwriters statistics attached to it, I can just give you an example if you are adding a driver permanently, the statistics that the underwriter has is the group of the car, the age of the driver and the type of licence that he hold and for the no. of yrs. Based of which the system normally generates a premium.
Regarding documents going to admiral online portal. There are few reasons behind it (Im not 100% sure as Im not their employee) but being in customer service industry I would say that if you go online you can view your documents right-away instead of waiting for 3-5 days to receive it through post, secondly its eco friendly and there if in case you lose your document you dont have to take the trouble of calling them again and paying reprint charges and print it on your own and of all its Eco Friendly I believe.

Dear Customer!
Im not an admiral employee but I value customer's a lot and end of the day my moto is customer should be explained why and how it works and should be happy no matter whatever happens, being within the boundaries of the policy. Regarding your query, Any call center specially during the first quarter experiences a high call flow, though they project it and staffing is done accordingly still you cant be accurate on it but we always try to solve customers queries quick becuase we are aware that there are customers waiting and they are paying a charge for it.
Regarding the cancellation charges, a general survey shows that Cancelling a policy also attracts fees, with Budget Insurance charging £75 per cancellation of a car insurance policy and Axa, Zurich, Sheila's Wheels and More Than charging £50 or more for the same service. Where by admiral charges only £47.50 which is still below the cheapest cancellation charge of £50.

But if we see from the insurance company point of view, the post codes are basically categorized in 20 category, were 1 been the safest and 20 being the most riskiest place, reason being the no. of claims and accidents, where fire and theft is also taken into consideration, are reported more. I'm sorry if this was not explained to you clearly but this is the reason why the system generates an additional premium, you might see a huge refund as well when you move to a place which is in the lower category.

I fail to understand what you are actually complaining about. Your insurance has done what its meant to & pay you out for the reps or insurance write off of your vehicle.
First of all it sounds like your car was deemed an insurance write off so you wouldnt be entitled to a courtesy car. The only way you would have a replacement vehicle is if you took out the hire car & Im guessing you were too tight fisted to pay the extra £30ish pound for it.
Secondly, just because you trinstated the policy on a new car doesn't mean you get it for the same price or cheaper. Surely you can understand every car is different to insure & costs different amounts, EG you cant insure a Rolls Royce for the price of a Fiesta.
Do ou actually understand what insurance does & how your insurance works. Maybe you should read your policy booklet from time to time.

After being involved in an accident that was not my fault, I naturally assumed that the hire car I was told I must have (or pay my excess of £250.00) would be the same hire car I had paid extra for on my policy. Unfortunately, it clearly wasn't, as I am now having to go to County court over the exorbitant Fee that the company is asking for from the other insurer. I must point out that Admiral don't seem to do anything themselves;the hire car was a company in Leeds, whilst my claim was... (read more)

I recently advised that someone had gone into me, but that we were dealing with it ourselves. but in the interest of being honest told Admiral. during the phonecall the adviser decided to change my occupation without telling me. Following a non blame accident Admiral almost begged us to agree to go with their 3rd party partner Albany Assistance to arrange repair. We did and that was a whopping mistake! They have been useless and close to fraudulent and it has taken months and months to get excess back. They failed to arrange the hire car and then charged us £50 after we ended up dealign with hire company ourselves. We complained afterwards to Admiral who shrugged their shoulders and said talk to Albany even... (read more)

Why do people automatically assume they work for the company if they place a positive comment?!? It's always the case people are quick to post negative comments about a company or service than it is to leave good comments.
Can I ask why you feel the need to rack up £40 phone bill costs? I bet any money your claim is a liability dispute and you have either chosen to wait on liability or refusing to pay your insurance excess and this is why it's taking so long.
Quick tip do what I do phone the freephone sales number and ask to be transferred through to the claims dept = FREE CALLS!

Unfortunately although the other party may have admitted liability at the scene its down to his insurance to admit liability as they repay the cost of the claim. So I don't see how it's Admiral's fault its taking so long.
And if the other insurers offered to repair your vehicle why haven't you got it repaired with them? Or why haven't you had your car repaired under your insurance?? The police report can often take months to get off the police - they police will provide you with a letter or abstract report long before they will a company who have applied and paid for it.
If your car was repaired at least Admiral would have money to recover which means they can pass the file to solicitors if the other insurance company are dragging their heels.
I really fail to see why you are moaning - get your car repaired with Admiral and they can look to pass their file to Solicitors if it is a clear cut non fault accident.

Again I'm still lost at what your issue is - you havent paid extra for legal expense's cover as it's included in all Admiral policies whether fully comp or third party fire and theft.
The police will often provide the police report to the customer, as they were involved, sooner then they will provide it to the insurance company. The police will hide behind all the red tape and data protection things and make the insurance company jump through a million hoops to get it. So that is the police's fault and not the insurer. If you have the full police report have you provided this to the insurance company?
Again why havent you got the repairs done through the other parties insurance? If they are offering to pay for the repairs then get them done. I fail to see why you are whinging and moaning over the repairs when by the sounds of it you have the option to get them done.
You sound like one of those people that has to be spoon fed or have their hand held at every turn of the page.

You may have had an MOT but then you had an accident! If you did not agree that the vehicle was a total loss why did you not go and get another quote for repairs from a different garage. A full tank of petrol and new tyres don't affect how much a car is worth and you can always arrange to take the tyres off yourself or remove the fuel....it just seems like you do nothing to help yourself. Just be happy you weren't badly injured at the end of the day its just a car.

Again I don't see what your point is as you aren't helping yourself and yes you may be comprehensive but do you really understand what that means????
I will reiterate my point - it seems the other insurance company are dealing the claim and disputing liability. Admiral offer to pay out for your car you refused. The other insurers offered to repair you didn't take up the offer - so you put yourself in this position 8months later.
Fuel would not add value to the car as you need this to keep the car moving. Secondly the new tyres would be needed to maintain the car and again wouldn't add value to the vehicle. If you had asked the insurance company may have allowed you to change the tyres and remove the fuel.
You need insurance to be compliant with the law and it protects inncocent drivers. Grow up and get a grip of yourself.
Secondly I don't have a silver spoon in my mouth I understand what my insurance is for, how it works and clearly have a better idea of your claim then you do. If you haven't noticed myself and the other users are offering you our advice and experience.
